  1. He's a bit short for a first baseman, but Luke Skywalker was a little short for a Stormtrooper and things worked out pretty well for him.
  2. Just randomly checking scores around the league, and see that the Reds are down 5-0 already in the 1st inning of their ballgame. Colorado is still batting and the starting pitcher has been lifted already. Reds are 3-18 this year. April can be cruel, season's over already in Cincy.
  3. Is Duffey this year's Colome? Winder, Ober, Ryan, and Duran proving there are plenty of quality arms in the minors ready for their shot if Duff Man can't get it together.
  4. Buxton being a late scratch is concerning. Can't help but get that creeping feeling any time he's removed for an injury. Garlick, wow. He's got 4 hits this year and 3 of them are HRs. He's making it awfully tough to send him down when he plays like this against lefties. Would be very nice to win this series in Tampa.....
  5. Bundy looking like the guy who the Twins found on the trash pile, looking for a home with that 7.78 ERA hanging around his neck. Whether he's relapsing or not, the guy is clearly off tonight.
  6. When's the last time Polanco did anything helpful on offense? Week and a half ago?
  7. I liked all of your bullet points but this one jumped out at me because I've been saying the same thing. The other day during that nutty victory over the Tigers it was Larnach alone who was responsible for the baserunning clown show. I could see how he'd be freezing on Sano's line drive, but he was actually running back towards 2nd base as the ball was rolling around at the base of the wall in the deepest part of the park. What the heck was he doing? I mean, even if a baserunner completely misjudged that ball, they should have EASILY scored from second base on that ball. The fact that Larnach was just getting his foot on 3rd base when the ball was getting back to the infield tells me that the kid might have eye problems or something. Does he need glasses? I'm being serious. If the Detroit catcher just holds the ball on that play, the Twins may not have scored at all that inning and lost the ballgame. What a terrible waste that would have been. Those baserunning gaffes can cost you games, or even a World Series. Ask Lonnie Smith.
  8. Nice for Celestino to hustle home and get that RBI for Carlos also.
  9. Stashak is so bad, we've GOT to have other better options in AAA than this?
  10. Lived in Chicago for 12 years and honestly the Italian Beef was just too much of a good thing. First bite is fantastic, but by the time I'd get halfway through I'd be feeling regretful. I'll stick to a polish sausage, done up Chicago-style. There used to be a place on Western called Duk's that I'd frequent, they really did it right there.
  11. We're cord cutters - don't have local stations or cable, just internet-based TV.
  12. Correct. I will also have to find a way to watch the game, as MLB.TV blocks me from watching both Florida teams down in these parts. I wonder if a VPN would work? Gonna have to test that out I guess.
  13. Amazing how the feel of a season can change when a few lucky bounces go your way. Those amazing finishes against the White Sox and Tigers seem to have taken some of the pressure off this team. Last year, the Twins were on the other side of tons of games like that. Right now this team seems to be having fun and there are lots of guys contributing. Polanco and Correa should start to heat up soon and then we'll really be clicking. Can't say anything more about Joe Ryan that hasn't already been said. Berrios who?!?!
  14. Walker Buehler pitched a complete game shutout in AZ two nights ago. It can be done, just ain't gonna be by Ryan - at least not this year.
  15. Drew Strotman. Struggled in St. Paul last year to the tune of a 7.33 ERA over 12 starts. This year he's been converted into a reliever, has 4 appearances and is doing OK but nothing flashy. He's got an ERA of 3.83 and has struck out 5 guys over 7 innings.
  16. Oh it's fun, don't get me wrong! In fact I think the Baseball Gods are evening things out. Wasn't it around this time last year when Luis Arraez made that throw in Oakland? Good to see both Kepler and Sano play a major part in winning this game. While Sano's base hit could have been caught by a more adept fielder, it was a frozen rope and that would go for a double against many teams. He made solid contact with the team down in the 9th, he did a nice job in the batter's box in a big situation.
  17. After watching the play again, I kinda disagree. I think Larnach should have scored easily. If you watch the replay, he's still heading back towards 2nd base when the ball is rolling around near the wall. Not to mention Grossman's arm is like a wet noodle. The Twins baserunning as a whole on that play was so awful that it confused the Tigers to the point of them throwing the ball away.
  18. I know it's still April, but it would be nice if Correa would show some signs of getting it together. With Kepler's big day it's arguable that Correa and Sano are neck-and-neck for the Most Disappointing Offensive players so far this year.
  19. At 3-0 I think "Slays Bunny" has earned his new nickname.
