  1. I don't blame Rocco for thinking he could get away with it again, especially since Bundy overall has been pretty good this year. But I think after last night, that experiment is over and moving forward nobody's going to find any more "moral victories" resulting from Bundy getting shelled in the first couple innings.
  2. Tell that to the Cincinnati Reds, who are 3-21. They might be wondering about where those 50 wins are going to come from right about now. Speaking of sad, non-Twins related stuff: Nelson Cruz is hitting .143 so far this year with 2 HRs. He's 2 for his last 38 and hasn't had a multiple-hit game in almost a month. This has to be his last year, right?
  3. There was a waterfall of key plays and moments in this game - seemed like they just kept happening! Seeing-eye bloop hits from Baltimore and misplays by the Twins in the field were taking place every inning. However, the back-breaking moment in my opinion was when Celestino hits a line drive missile that nails Sanchez for the final out of the inning. That hit was headed to right field to make the game 6-5 with Arraez and Correa coming up to bat. Instead it stays 6-4 and the inning is over. Rocco was trying to steal one more inning from Bundy there - it's classic Rocco, that's what he does, and frankly I can live with it. Bundy's pitched pretty well this year aside from a couple bad innings, Rocco's thinking if this guy can just get 3 more outs we might have a chance. PS - how about that catch from Gordon? That was maybe the best OF catch we've seen all year on this team. Also nice to see Gordon deliver a key hit in that rally as well. He's turning into a nice utility piece for this team.
  4. Another GIDP, just awful. That 3 double-plays tonight the Twins have hit into? Also, someone mentioned Urshela earlier. I read somewhere that he hit a HR on opening day and hasn't hit an extra-base hit since then? The ball comes off his bat like it's made of lead. He's got no pop at all.
  5. It looked to me like the ball that Correa threw hit just the lip of the grass, just bordering the dirt. It appears that Sanchez was ready for the ball if it would have hit the dirt - but it didn't, mainly because the throw was offline. I know Sanchez isn't exactly Drew Butera out there defensively but I don't blame him for what happened on that relay.
  6. This Twins team grounds into more double plays than any team I've ever seen.
  7. Every play has some weird bad luck going on, good grief! Can someone just ground out to 2nd base for crying out loud?
  8. Miranda, good lord. And get Bundy out of there already.
  9. His first 4 starts for the Angels last year were similar to what he gave the Twins early this year. Looked lights out in April, then just got absolutely shelled and finished with an ERA close to 7.00.
  10. Second straight game that Bundy has us down 6-0 in the third inning or less.
  11. Defense not helping at all. Pretty bad effort all around from the Twins any way you look at it.
  12. Bundy struggling as bad as we've seen a Twins starter all year right now, along with his last outing. The guy seems rattled ever since that Celestino misplay. Shine and fairy dust is coming off Mr. Bundy in his past couple outings. Looks very hittable and doesn't have any control either.
  13. I think Paddack and Ryan are going to continue and emerge as a true 1-2 punch. I see Gray as an effective, yet injury-prone arm that might contribute somewhat but we probably shouldn't count on too much. Ober's injury really knocked him down on my list as well, he was looking solid prior but I think he may have already reached his ceiling in terms of what he can give the Twins. I see Winder as a wildcard, certainly could play a big role this year if either of the two aforementioned get injured, or....when Bundy and Archer hit the wall, which I anticipate will be around mid-June. In fact I think that it's possible that one of those two might not even be with the team come July 15.
  14. He does look good, agree with what you're saying. Not sure if he's "home grown" though, he came to the Twins organization in the Eduardo Escobar trade back in 2018. Arizona drafted him. That said he's spent as much time in the Twins org as he did in the AZ org by now, so by all means I think the Twins can take credit for a lot of his development.
  15. How about Jax pitching in a big spot here? He might not be in this game if it's against the Yankees or Blue Jays, but hey it's good to see the guy hanging in there.
  16. I know. And if an Oriole is the guy stealing the bag, I'm probably less inclined to be upset about it. But c'mon, it's really really ticky-tack sometimes. NFL overdoes it too.
  17. Agree 100%, that out call isn't in the spirit of the game. You said it much more clearly than I did. The rule should be "as long as the runner beats the ball to the bag and his slide is 'controlled' he should be awarded the base". Gordon was in control of his slide, he didn't overslide the bag and beat the throw. Safe.
  18. Replay has improved the game for the most part, but this is an example of how it's changed the game for the worse. Gordon beat the throw, should have been safe, but was only called out because of a non-baseball related technicality. The ump only called him "out" because he thought that maybe Gordon's knee came off the bag for a millisecond. From 1889-2008 that's a stolen base. It's not in the spirit of the game for him to be called out there.
  19. Looking forward to seeing this kid play! Well deserved, let's get him in the starting lineup tonight Rocco.
