  1. So just throwing it out there; last time Kurt Suzuki didn't get traded at the deadline and decided to keep him, he got extended.
  2. Uh wait a second. I just saw that Alan Busenitz, the throw in guy the Twins got from the Angels is also from Kennesaw State, just like Light. Is that a coincidence?
  3. Rosenthal tweets it's Nolasco and Meyer. So basically we gave up Meyer to dump Nolasco? Not sure I'm upset about that. And Santiago could be a gem of a trade piece next year.
  4. The whole team needs to be placed on waivers at 3:01, hoping that some of these guys don't get claimed simply because the active teams are still trying to figure out their 25 and 40-mans.
  5. Dillon Tate for two months of Carlos Beltran?! Come ON! I'm torn on a Santana trade. I want some action, but I'm also worried Anthony isn't going to get the right value.
  6. Wouldn't the Giants rather have had Santana? This board would have been in hysteria.
  7. This Santana stuff is exciting. Just so long as the front office hasn't forgotten to have someone manning the Suzuki and Kintzler phones.
  8. Fine by me, we still have an hour and a half left. Of course my work will suffer.
  9. Jeremy's Twitter is also linking a Berardino Tweet about how the Giants have also long had interest in Santana. Jeremy's response is asking for Phil Bickford. That was clearly just spitballing. A good spitball though.
  10. Plan can change especially pending the returns they get and the pieces they move at the deadline. I wouldn't be surprised if they back off of the Duffey to the pen bit in favor of Chargois.
  11. Does he go right to the pen? I'm fine if he does, but not at the continued expense of Chargois. Regardless of what happens today, Chargois should be up. Three months ago.
  12. Out of curiosity do you have his service time numbers? My go-to for that stuff is BBR and it's not showing when he becomes a free agent likely due to the major league contract he signed when drafted. My feelings on him would change if he's still controllable beyond 2018.
  13. I'm not sure of the intricacies of him singing a major league deal upon being drafted, but he's already out of options and it appears to me that he'll have four years of service time under his belt after this year. I would think that Bundy would only have two years left before becoming a free agent. As much as I'd like him as a high ceiling guy, one would have to think the odds that Santana is healthy and productive the next two years is much, much greater than Bundy. I'd want a ton more than Bundy for Santana if both are free agents following the 2018 season. It's not like you're getting a guy who is controllable for a long period of time.
  14. The reports were that he rejected it because he wanted Cleveland to void his 2017 option so he'd become a free agent sooner. This was driven be the fact that Cleveland wouldn't guarantee he would be the full time catcher next year when Gomes returned, Cleveland said he would play some 1B and DH, which could diminish his leverage when becoming a free agent. As much as it's fun to think he just hates Cleveland, he was simply doing what was best for his future.
  15. Yeah after contending last year there were lots of posts on TD about the Twins trading for him. It's probably safe to then rationalize that Lucroy is an ardent Twins Daily reader.
  16. Just like college, I know how to kill a party. This place is dead anyway.
  17. What the hell are you guys still doing here, I thought we closed up shop for the night? Last call was an hour ago.
  18. I'd rotate Polanco between 3B/SS/2B and give Sano some looks at 1B. The team has already screwed the pooch defensively this year, the new GM is going to have a few things to fix anyway, so I really wouldn't care if Polanco played SS exclusively. However, Eduardo Escobar has already started his traditional 2nd half surge with a .785 OPS since June, so I'd like to keep him in the lineup.
  19. How about instead of comparing the teams, a comparison of the draft position is made? So if the Twins drafted 10th and selected a HS kid, that pick is compared in WAR to the next 10-20 HS kids taken and the same is done separately for the college guys. Then WAR is added for each team and divided by the number of draft picks, then we'd have WAR per player and only for guys the Twins had a shot at drafting.
  20. They could limit his innings in the pen if the team also trades fellow lefty Abad. It's not something Ryan would have done, but Ryan's not in charge any more either. Not saying they should do it, or even that I care to see him this year, but they could be creative if they want him to audition for 2017 which might be smart considering he's the closest lefty in the system who may be ready for the opening day rotation. Assuming (hoping) Milone is no longer an option and Rogers remains in the pen.
