  1. Me, I'm looking for a hybrid of the general health of the team, the young and new faces. I'm particularly interested in Kirilloff and Larnach coming back strong.
  2. Now that the players have reported to Ft Myers, albeit with some interruption from the WBC, what are you looking for or at the most? Are you looking for the general health of last seasons injured players? Are you looking to see and get to know the new acquisitions and signees? Are you just looking for all things baseball? Vote and opine below!
  3. I voted Gray, but I'm hoping it's Ryan. And I'm hoping it's Ryan because he's dominant, not because the rest of the rotation is hurt or pitching poorly.
  4. I've really liked everything that I've seen from Royce on and off the field. The kid just needs to stay healthy! I still think he can be a very integral part of this organization, and it would be so fun to watch him along with Buxton and Correa! Similar to Buxton, I feel like we've been robbed of some very fun baseball with his injuries.
  5. Agreed. I agree with @USAFChief in that dropping the K % is what would really help offenses. That's the biggest reason why I didn't really care about the shift in the first place.
  6. Ah, I was under the impression that they couldn't move until the pitcher was in his windup. Thanks for the clarification!
  7. Yeah, banning the shift will help some individual players but I don't know that it'll cure much on an overall view with K rates where they are. And really, teams are just going to camp the SS or 2B behind 2B and they'll sprint to wherever they'd have lined up before as the pitch is delivered anyway. I'll be interested to see if there ends up being any real impact at all.
  8. Right. Part of that discussion is how teams adjust to that sort of structure. Do the teams that currently spend little actually try to keep more of their players in that scenario? Or do they find another way to scrimp on payroll anyway. Since that structure takes some control away from the team's ability to budget in a long term way, how do they react to the potential of having a sudden and sizeable spike in year to year payroll based on their prospects coming up and performing well. Obviously the benefit is that they're playing well and that lends to a better team, but do the current cheap teams just find another way to continue to be cheap? That certainly affects a young team more than an average age or veteran team, but that's often how the cheap teams remain cheap.
  9. I like this approach, but I do wonder what this would do for player retention. It's obviously just one piece to that conversation, but I'd be curious to know what the impacts that would have on a team's ability to develop and then keep a player that they've invested in.
  10. This seems far too logical for MLB to consider so I'll still be waiting to see it before I believe it, but this is certainly a positive sign if they follow through with it. As always, when money is at stake, real change starts to be discussed.
  11. It'll be interesting to see how the analytics age adjusts to the shorter timeframe in which to reference said analytics. A good manager is always a step ahead anyway, but there's got to be some adjusting to do with a quicker pace of play.
  12. I really want to see what a healthy Kirilloff and Larnach can do. The glimpses we've seen show a lot of promise. The offense needs them to be productive in order for this team to be capable of winning the division.
  13. Agreed on the pitching I'm still questioning whether they can hang with a legit postseason pitching staff. I'm not convinced of that yet. Even then, they'd need to be healthy come playoff time. Could they match up? I wouldn't be shocked by it if they did, but I don't expect it. And that's what is holding them back from something greater than winning a poor division, in my opinion.
  14. I think they're more than just a piece away from being legitimate contenders for anything aside from the division, but I tend to agree that they can afford to be patient when it comes to making a move for the division. If some of the young guys can stay healthy and produce, they may surprise some people, but I'm still lery of what they can do in October. But with this division, yes, they can afford to wait.
  15. I have a piece of the turf somewhere. No idea where it is, so that was money well spent...
  16. I think the real question to come out of this is whether or not Mr. Carlsson has one of those 'FART MASTER' signs in his collection.
  17. I love Coors Field. Been there a few times and haven't found a bad seat in the house yet. Though, I like the RF corner, up high. Especially at night with a great view of the mountains and sunset. Gorgeous view In CF, you get the Denver skyline. I'll be there in May. Tickets are quite cheap. I definitely took advantage of that!
  18. Yeah, not excited about him throwing that hard already even if he did work up to it for the WBC. Long way to go this season. Need to leave some gas in the tank.
  19. It won't affect my ability to watch Twins games, I already can't! If anything, it may be a benefit to me! I'm pretty confident that the league will figure out a way to get games broadcast fairly quickly. And it may even benefit some us!
  20. Pitchers and Catchers Report! It's like music to my ears!
  21. Exactly. Why would anyone outside of LSU care about the confidence level of the staff enough to leave another job? Especially in MLB. Seems like the headline should really read something along the lines of "Wes Johnson looks to build confidence in LSU staff after leaving pro game".
