  1. Stringer - are we gonna meet up for a beer this year at Target Field? I think it's your turn to buy.
  2. I agree and was going to say something but I figured someone had a crazy stat that said Arreaz can only hit .300 against lefties...I kept my damn mouth shut.
  3. Thanks Squirrel! Game threads are where all the cool people hang out!
  4. I'm going to keep playing the hot hand and choose Buxton as my pick to click tonight.
  5. Good afternoon Twins fans and welcome back to more Game Thread fun! The Minnesota Twins kick off another inter-division battle tonight with the Detroit Tigers. After sweeping the White Sox this weekend our first place Twins are looking to add some more distance between their division rivals by beating up the Tigers. Can our starting rotation keep up the good work? Can Buxton keep up the torrid pace he has been showcasing at the plate? Can Correa get in the groove and start producing at the plate? Tune into tonight's game to find out while posting some humor, opinions, and banter on this very Game Thread. Tonight's pitching matchup will feature the Tiger's lefty Eduardo Rodriguez 0-1, (5.27 ERA) going against Twin's righty Chris Paddack 0-2 (5.00 ERA). Byron Buxton will be playing the DH role tonight and looks to get a night off from playing center field. Gilberto Celestino will be roaming center field for Buxton instead. Speaking of Buxton, if he can stay healthy and keep up this crazy pace (per ESPN), he would be one of only 8 position players in the last 50 years to reach the "gold standard" of a 10-WAR season. Consider this: In the last two years when Buxton is on the field he is averaging a .076 WAR per game. For comparison, Mike Trout averaged .069 WAR per game. Of course Trout has completed the marathon seasons while Buxton has been hit with injuries. Time will tell but Buxton is certainly one of the most gifted Twins to ever take the field. Hopefully he brings some more magic tonight and sparks our anemic offense. As they say, money begets more money and hitting begets more hitting... Settle in, grab some snacks, something good to drink and enjoy a Twins team that seems to be heating up (unlike this pathetic spring weather we're experiencing in Minnesota). Go Twins! Tonight's lineups: TWINS: 1. Byron Buxton , DH 2. Carlos Correa, SS 3. Jorge Polanco, 2B 4. Kyle Garlic, LF 5. Gio Urshela, 3B 6. Max Kepler, RF 7. Miguel Sano, 1B 8. Ryan Jeffers, C 9. Gilberto Celestino, CF SP - Chris Paddack, (R) TIGERS: 1. R. Grossman, RF 2. Austin Meadows, LF 3. Javier Baez, SS 4. Miguel Cabrera, DH 5. Spencer Torkelson, 1B 6. J. Candelario, 3B 7. J. Schoop, 2B 8. T. Barnhart, C 9. Derek Hill, CF SP - E. Rodriguez, (L) Weather: Cold and 44 degrees....Where the hell did spring go?
  6. You'll need more than 4-5 million bucks. The taxes in Minnesota are horrible!
  7. At this moment in time: Yes, Buxton is the best player in baseball. He is probably the most talented athlete to ever wear a Twins uniform. Talent, longevity and success is a hard road. The smartest people or the best athletes don't always come out on top. It takes a lot of other things to reach that brass ring. Buxton is on the right road though...gonna take a lot more to become a HOF'er though. Glad I have the opportunity to watch him play...
  8. Here comes some bases loaded magic! Trust me. Here comes some runs....
  9. I like to think of myself more a BS artist than story teller.... Remember this scene from History of the World with Mel Brooks? Sooo funny!
  10. Great article! My sister has worked in the FO of the Florida Marlins for over 20 years and proudly sports her two World Series rings. Regardless, first and foremost she is a huge baseball fan. My daughter loves the game too. It's nice to see more women involved in the game at all levels including just being a fan.
  11. I like our top 4 in the lineup today. Buxton with Arreaz behind him makes sense. Just wish Correa would start getting hot. Polanco in the 4 hole isn't bad either.
  12. Buxton in the lineup adds so much more energy to this team. Its fun to watch.
  13. Good morning Twins fans and welcome to another Game Thread installment filled with fun, laughter and exciting banter! I like day games and listening to the game while at work. I also like posting on the Game Thread whilst fielding phone calls from customers and vendors. When people enter my office I tell them to leave as I am busy typing up an important email (in truth its just posting on the Game Thread). Speaking of fun at work, it got me thinking about some of the funny practical jokes I've played on my co-workers over the years. Once when I was in college and working for Pepsi as a driver I had a stop where one of my fellow Pepsi drivers was parked. He was in the store stocking shelves. In the spirit of good fun I jumped in his truck and drove it around the side of the building, I casually stood by my truck waiting for him to come out. He noticed me right away and said hi. I said, "what are you doing here"? He explained his delivery and we chatted for a bit. I eventually said, "goodbye" and got back in my truck. As he turned to leave he noticed his truck was gone and ran over to me right away. My co-worker said, "where the hell is my truck? I think someone stole the damn thing"! The look on his face was pure anxiety. I told him he should probably call back to HQ and let them know and probably call the police too. I walked in with him to the store (we didn't have cell phones back then). I told him he should probably call our supervisor and explain everything before calling the police. As he is talking to our supervisor I casually said something like, "Are you sure you remember where you parked? Maybe it's on the other side of the building"....he knew right away I had gotten him. He told our supervisor what happened and I could hear him laughing out loud on the other end of the phone. Good times! Good times.... Do you have any fun work practical jokes you've played on someone? We would love to hear a few if you have one or two. Now for today's game! Can the Twins avoid a sweep? I hope so. This offense lacks some serious punch. Last nights lineup was totally anemic. Today';s lineup looks much better! Welcome back Buxton!!!!!!! Go Twins! Today's lineups: TWINS: 1. Byron Buxton, DH 2. Carlos Correa, SS 3. Luis Arraez, 2B 4. Gio Urshela, 3B 5. Max Kepler, RF 6. Miguel Sano, 1B 7. Kyle Garlic, LF 8. Ryan Jeffers, C 9. Nick Gordon, CF SP - Joe Ryan (R) ROYALS: 1. Nicky Lopez, 2B 2. W. Merrifield, RF 3. A. Benintendi, LF 4. Salvador Perez, C 5. Carlos Santana, 1B 6. Hunter Dozier, DH 7. Bobby Witt, Jr., 3B 8. A. Mondesi, SS 9. M. Taylor, CF SP - Zack Greinke Weather: 70 degrees and nice.
  14. This might be the topic for tomorrows game thread. Thanks for the inspiration!!
  15. I forgot I need to do the game thread opener tomorrow...Any suggestions on topics? I think I'm developing writers block about this team. One idea...Maybe just a link to Rick Astley's video and the lineups???
  16. No kidding! I thought I might turn on Netflix but realized they don't have any decent content either....hence their stock cratering 35% in one day...
