  1. Please sign Josh. Let's make a lineup of hitting freaks. If we can't get a great SP might as well roll the dice on the offense. I'd watch that!
  2. I've awoken from my winter hibernation to say, "fantastic news!!!" let's get this machine warmed up and ready for a big 2020!!
  3. Great article. My sister has been in the Marlins front office for almost 20 years now. She has some great stories about being a women in MLB.
  4. Great News! Way to go Rocco! Please row the boat to a WS championship next year. Sorry! Wrong team. Please navigate the ship to a WS victory in 2020.
  5. This is so ridiculous. Our city has waited a long time to get back to the playoffs and MLB rewards us with this? I always thought MLB was trying to grow their fan base and keep people engaged with the sport...Unfortunately for me, Mediacom doesn't carry MLB either. Because of the stupidity of MLB making this decision, the baseball gods will not be happy. Twins will sweep this series and knock out the team with the biggest television audience. Bye, bye, New York Yankees! See ya next year!
  6. The Yankees home run totals should be followed by an asterisk. Half their games are played in a softball field type of park. That will benefit us probably more than the Yankees while we are there. Right now I think our bullpen has the advantage over the Yankees pen. It's gonna be a fun series to watch though. Common sense says there will be a lot of high scoring games, the reality is it will probably be scores like 1-2, 2-1, 3-2...dramatic home runs sprinkled in here and there...Something like that. I might start self medicating Thursday evening to make sure I'm ready for Friday night.
  7. I watched the locker room celebration tonight and enjoyed the interviews. Surprisingly, the best one in my opinion was with Gibson. Audra asked him about his ailments and he deflected and said there were others who had more difficult circumstances to overcome than he did. I've never had ulcerative colitis but my dad did. It's a horrible disease. He's a total class act and in my mind a champion already. I think the chemistry of this team is special. Can't wait to watch the fireworks with the Yankees! By the way, congratulations to all the other Twins fans tonight, especially the TD gang. You all made the season so much more fun and entertaining. Just glad we could sweat this out together. Let's go beat the Yankees then argue and discuss the Astros later.
  8. It's an interesting question and a good problem to have. Who has more long term value, Sano or Buxton? Asked another way, what car sitting in my garage will be more valuable in the future, the Porsche 911GT or Ferrari Testa Rossa? To be clear I don't own either and you can't compare ball players to cars but its just an example I thought of after reading the comments above. In my mind, long term means 5-10 years. I see Buxton being a huge impact player for the next 3-5 years. However, as he ages he's gonna lose a step or two in speed, etc. Long term I think Sano has the edge. He could be pounding out homers playing a DH or 1B role until he's 40 if he stays in good shape...A la Cruz, Ortiz, Thome, Bonds, etc, etc...
  9. I personally hope we start off with the Yankees. I think we will kick their #$@%! Let the long balls fly! I'll sleep well regardless of outcome. This will be so fun to watch (I may vomit a few times during the series but exciting it will be).
  10. I'm all in on Arraez. The kid is a gamer. He will be our starting 2nd baseman next year. It will be fun to watch how he does during the playoffs. I think he'll eat the Yankees pathetic pitching staff for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  11. This news hurts but it's not going to put this team into a death spiral. The Twins do have other pitching options and those guys either step up or they don't. If I were one of the new pitchers that got called up I would look at this as my golden opportunity to be a hero and help win a World Series. It will be fun to see if anyone can step up and make something happen.
  12. The pieces to this bullpen are coming together better than I expected and the timing couldn't be more perfect. I like the assortment of arms we have available for the playoff push. More than enough quality for shorter series during the playoffs. Nicely written article. Thank you Sabir.
  13. These are the type of games we need to keep winning to make the whole Cleveland thing mute before we even begin to play them again. Let's take it to Boston next!
  14. I'd also add Buxton and Sano. Both had horrible seasons last year but have come through beautifully. A number of us had written them off (Sano for me) but very impressive when they are on the field.
  15. Definately odd man out. I really like Schoop but Arraez is the real deal. I think this kid has a great future. Love watching him take at bats!
  16. Is Kevlar allowed in MLB? Maybe if he wore chain male(SP?) it would help. It might actually weigh him down enough to stop running at mach 5...
  17. Great article. My sister works for the Marlins and loved hanging out with him. He was a clubhouse favorite. She called me and said our fan base will really like him. Her prediction is already coming true. I'm going to forward her this article. Thanks for writing it!
  18. I'm not too worried about Dyson. He's got dominate stuff and should rebound. I'm enjoying the enthusiasm of Romo as well. That attitude will help us in October.
  19. Nice comparison. I think we still have a bull pen problem to deal with but until that's fixed I'm gonna take your approach. I like baseball. Don't really like the roller coaster but will keep taking my high blood pressure meds...
  20. A few take aways after watching the highlight reels and Rocco's interview: 1. This lineup is so crazy good. I'm literally speechless on how dangerous they really are. They all look so confidant and sure of themselves. The "mojo" they are displaying on a daily basis is impressive. I think these guys are seriously playing a game that says, if I don't hit, no bother, my brother, the guy behind me will hit it. Good luck pitching around somebody. If I was a pitcher facing our full lineup I'd be like...Fudge! Hopefully I get out of here with 5 runs or less. We've managed to decimate most of the Cy Young guys this year anyways. 2. Rocco looks like he might have hit his stride too. He looks as relaxed as an Exlax pill. When we are at full strength I will take this lineup over any Astro or Yankee team all day long. 3. Yes, I know our bullpen can use some support and maybe our starting pitching too but if nothing changed, I'll take the odds this team goes the distance in October...As Jack Morris famously said, "In the immortal words of Marvin Gaye, Let's get it on". Tom - Thanks again for another great recap. Much appreciated!!!
