  1. You know, back when they started messing around making May a reliever, I was wondering why they didn't do that with Gibby instead-- Still think it's a viable option for him. Hey, how about we flip-flop those two? How about it Falvey & co?
  2. Yeh. I guess the old 'rub some dirt on it' procedure may be passe by now.
  3. I agree that Maddon's bullpen moves in games 6 and 7 were illogical. And my tricorder went haywire on that bunt attempt.
  4. At last! Finally found a couple of pix from that magical night-- I know there are more around somewhere, but hey, that was life in the pre-digital age, eh?

  6. He is my GUY! I was really surprised to see English in the AFL, rather than Granite. I'm hoping for big things in Rochester for him, and maybe even a taste of the show. Speed guys, though, don't exactly have a long shelf life before it starts to diminish. I hope he plays is way into a role with the big club soon!
  7. Aye aye. Thing #1 has got to be stop making the incredibly stupid decisions they've undertaken the past couple of years- like Trevor May and Alex Meyer in the bullpen, and Mr. Sano to the OF- moves that even the most casual fan on the sidewalk would never consider. Like holding on to Mr. Plouffe way, way, way past his sell-by date. Like letting a solid catcher like John Hicks just fall through the AAA cracks, going on to post a +.900 OPS, through sheer not-paying-attention. Need I go on? I can, and that's the saddest part. Any question about pitchers who don't work out here, and go on to blossom elsewhere, as soon as they're out of the Twinkie tutelage? The utterly ridiculous grab-bag lineups that Molly threw out there day after day? The way he jerked around nearly every kid who came up to the bigs? OK, I'll stop now, but only because I'm tired, not because I ran out of stupid. So, how about it, new guy? Can you stop that fools' parade?
  8. I watched that game 5 with pals at Stub & Herbs- what a game! And that night at the Dome, when the team returned to a full house- wow, one of my favorite sports memories of all time. It was a special time, and a special team. I gotta find those old photos from that rally sometime- if I do, I'll post 'em here. If anybody else has some, please do the same!
  9. I am so not on board with keeping Molly another year. They need a whole new voice, in every direction in the ML dugout.
  10. Heh--- Rather glad today I'm in the middle of a workday, and didn't have to suffer through 11 innings for that, like a real fan would. Well, nice to drop in and snipe and snark for a bit. I'm gonna miss y'all during the long hot-stove season. Kind of sucks when you have to fire up that stove by mid-June...
  11. Argh- just check in for that leadoff walk and brain-fart steal. Well.....
  12. I don't see many games anymore this year, but every time I check in and see him, I think of all the ABs ABW II could have been taking this whole blasted time.

    Congrats, Twins!
  14. Dozey to 3rd. Polanco to 2nd. Sano, occasionally 3rd, and DH. Vargas DH/1B, and maybe Park can shake some of those cobwebs and do a spell at 1B, too. There. Fixed the infield, now getting to work on the starting pitching. ----let me just ask my consultant, Sysiphus, and get back to you on that.

  16. I'm not sure if Molly may be confused between 'infields' and 'infidels.' That may be a consideration. Perhaps he's thinking in a more metaphysical sense. Or- perhaps it's just more of the non-sensical sense that's been a Twins hallmark since he took over in the dugout. Kind of like the Logan Schafer-over-ABW kind of thing.
  17. He has more than earned it. He would have been a good-sense callup plenty of times in the past, yet has been overlooked way more than he should have been. I've been in this guy's corner for a long time, and I'm glad to see him finally getting his long-overdue shot. He reminds me of a lot of those guys who came out of the Cardinals org, with a ton and a half of minor league games under his belt, ready to contribute on the big stage. He's been solid on both O and D for a long time. I hope Molly can get him into the lineup, instead of doing what he's usually done with the young guys the last couple of years. 2017- Dozier to 3rd, Polanco SS, Beresford 2B. Now we're getting somewhere. Add about 5 more quality SP's and we're talking contention... nyuk, nyuk.
  18. I was disappointed not to see Mr. Granite (could he have a better name, unless he gets a nickname like "Rocky?") on the AFL roster. He is without a doubt my favorite Twinks minor leaguer. And what a season he's had. Watch out, Buck-- may be another CF candidate soon.
  19. Well, if there's a way to break this streak, I couldn't imagine a better opponent to do it against. PS-- then we can resume our chase for that #1 pick.

  21. How old was Crash Davis when he was with the Bulls? He had some pop, at least.
