  1. It's been a mini-Greek tragedy, watching how concussions have robbed a couple of key Twins of many productive years. Joe (and Justin) were such formidable keystones for a good while, and barring those freak injuries, should have been for several more years. But I have to concur with the above posts-- my gosh, how long have these defenses been adjusting to the oppo-outfield and roll-over infield patterns, and why in the heck hasn't the one hitter with the best batting eye I've ever seen been able to adjust to that, even minimally? But here's the kicker in the whole mix-- Molly's lineups-by-reputation. A guy who's having the worst month of his entire career, entrenched in the cleanup spot. (And Castro a couple slots behind.) Now, that is one of the biggest of Molly's many head-scratching moves. Cripe, let him work out his stuff in the 7 spot. Get Vargas backing up Sano, or throw Grossman in there sometimes. Instead, our Mgr has maybe the two most intensely-slumping hitters in the 4 and 6 holes. Fer cryin'......
  2. I think they opened for Strawberry Alarm Clock at the Met back in the summer of '68...
  3. All I know is, having Kintzler as Kloser is running up my laundry bills, having to change trousers 2-3 times whenever the 9th inning rolls around with a lead...
  4. They need to get those young hitters going, then add a couple of those young BP fireballers. Vargas needs to be in the lineup, and Park/Palka need to get up here, too. Shaggy and Burdi, or whoever shines down on the farm back there in the pen as well. Show some solid offensive support, and a back end BP to attract a FA stud pitcher to come to Minny. Next year's market already looks a lot better than last years by a longshot. "Pitcher's" park, with fleet-footed outfielders, and young guys who can rock the baseball-- now that's a recipe for getting a quality #1 or 2 to come to the Twinks. Oh, and maybe a new Mgr who puts less-than-out-of-a-hat lineups together..... but that's just MHO.
  5. Tony O used to deal out Louisville Souvenirs fairly regularly.
  6. Geez, even Joe got one--- Yikes, this game. Valdez..... whew.... Thanks, man.
  7. I, for one, am grateful. I think Molly means, 'we're not bringing him up until I'm no longer the manager. That way I can't jerk him around like I did with that Meyer fella, or that May fella.'
  8. I worked for the North Stars that last year, up in the suites. The coolest part was on game days, or event days, we could go down onto the Met Center ice and play pick-up games at noon time. It was a gas seeing Bobby Clarke roaming around on occasion, too. He was generally a cool guy, especially when I told him I'd seen him play for the Flin Flon Bombers one time, way back in the day. The bad part was, well.... Norm.
  9. Wow, good on ya, boys! Now, with our shut-down bullpen....
  10. Oh, my and Joe, too? I'm gonna volunteer to go to the beach every day if this keeps up. ...Or the dentist...
  11. Wow, I'm nowhere near to where i can see that, and grateful. But, gameday seems to say Miggy did something...good, if not freat?
  12. Well, it's Saturday morning 10 AM over here, and I had to visit the dentist down in sunny Repulse Bay for a new crown. Now I've got cotton in my mouth while it sets, and I'm just sufferin', sufferin'. What to do, but follow the TD thread, and try not to drool while the HS girls beach volleyball tournament plays out on the sand just opposite. Go Twinkies, tho, eh? Drat, mobile version won't let me attach any photo... Oh, well, use your imagination.
  13. Ahhh, Gibby. Just checked in before aettling into the dentist's chair... Thx, mate, for helping take my mind off the coming trauma.

  16. You know, I think you nailed the thing that makes me unnerved about Gibby. Kind of like the face Ewan McGregor made whenever he had to hit any high notes singing in "Moulin Rouge." He didn't look like he was in the throes of musical ecstasy, not like he was enjoying himself at all. He looked more like Gibby on the mound.
