  1. Jeepers, this Paxton guy, what a stud. Hey! He's from the U of Kentucky! Same as Andrew Albers, and Alex Meyer, and Taylor Rogers! Hmmm. Did we.... maybe..... get the wrong guys?
  2. From the album: 2017

  3. One or both of those guys should have been the first call all along.
  4. Heh.... I had the tools on from time to time, and one game, I was perhaps a little animated back there. The ump gave me a little caution to simmer down between batters at one point-- and I quote-- "You've been jumping around like a fart in a box."
  5. Well, they showed the cojones to dip into AA- I would vote for Curtiss. But I'd rather see him bumped to Roch, to face some guys with MLB experience, and see how that goes. So my new vote is Busenitz. PS- chaps my a** that he gave up the big hit to Valencia.
  6. Come on, now, high heat, pop him up, ground ball--- over. edit--- Got the high heat part done... (new emoji)
  7. Exam week- had to step away for a while. Glad Hector already gave me good reason not to have to worry about following the game too closely. Good thing, too, he's giving the young guys a chance to audition! Go, Randy! Watch that ERA tick its way down!
  8. Awesome! Only 33 pitches in the 1st. Now, where did that new emoji go?
  9. Nothing to worry about. Only Cano, Cruz, and Seager to follow, with guys on base.
  10. Ahhh... nothing like a nothing 1st inning, followed by a lead-off walk. Uh-oh, and #OldFriend Danny V up.
  11. Just for the heck of it-- On the way to work, I pass the old HK airport, the big silver thingy in the harbor photo above. Never had the pleasure of flying into that one, as it closed in 1998. But, in the middle of a majorly-crowded big city, with big hills on both sides, and a sharp turn required right before you land- I'm just amazed at the skill of landing one of those 747's there, back in the day. The final approach took them right over one of the most densely-packed metro areas in the entire world- Kowloon City. The buildings could be no more than 6 stories there, and it seemed like the planes could take the laundry right off the lines as they came in. Lots of great cockpit videos out there, but here's a couple of my faves:
  12. It's already 8AM tomorrow here, another beautiful day in the Harbour. Do you guys want me to tell you how the game turned out, so you don't have to stay up so late?

  15. Man, that Zack is my boy! Out there raising heck on the bases, and getting key hits- I want to see that kind of excitement in the Cities soon.

  17. "Since 2010, the Twins have selected three college players in the first round, right-handed pitcher Alex Wimmers, shortstop Levi Michael and left-handed pitcher Tyler Jay." My question to this method is, "How's that workin' out for ya?" The last 10 years or so, maybe the only #1's that have been or look promising are Bux, Gordon (Looking good so far), and Berrios-- all HS picks. Oh, yes, and some cat named Aaron Hicks back in '08. I seem to remember a guy by that name... There's no guarantee a #1 pick will pan out, but Geez Louise, the Twinks' record of #1's have really not been too productive in this millenium so far, 2001 excepted.
  18. Oh, my gosh, that is a memory-jogger. Those Mauch years weren't always productive, but by golly, they were entertaining. And with that guy in the dugout, you kept watching because nearly every game was like a class in managing. Heh. I'd forgotten all about that incident, but remember it now in hindsight- Jeepers, that was scary, seeing that grown man Grich taking off after (heh- good description) fawn-like Rog Erickson. I didn't remember who that was (170-pound Rich Chiles!), until watching the video link, but I remember seeing that cross-body block he threw, and Rod teeing off on Grich when he was on the ground. That was a heck of a fight.
  19. Ok, our Kloser facing the dreaded 7-8-9... Just wish I could get that Barnum and Bailey theme song out of my mind. Edit time: that's right, Brandon. Start that .176 hitter out by not throwing any strikes.
  20. Can't watch the game, so can't hear him, can't see him, but I'm just gonna agree!
