  1. I felt that way most of the season in regards to Cleveland. They're not that good and Minnesota had a chance to make a run. I wish they were more aggressive and made the moves in June when there was more games remaining. Alas, here we are 104 games in and under .500 still. The FO made an honest assessment of the season, and I'm sure everything you're discussing was taken into account before selling off Pressly and Escobar. If your job was reliant on making a call this year to go for it or sell, you would go for it with those odds? Because know that if they did go for it and fail, you're most likely on thin ice with the person who signs your checks.
  2. That's not even remotely true about ownership and management. I understand the frustration this year, but ownership and the FO didn't let this team down.
  3. But really, it's an honest assessment of where this team stands. Trading pending FAs should be done... As far as other players signed for 2019 that's really selling... That's a tougher decision for guys like Gibson and Pressly.
  4. This would be my preference over a 3-4 year extension right now. I believe in his game and the changes he's made. It looks sustainable through his early 30's just like Charlie Morton. The Twins have the luxury of one more arbitration year with him. He's at $4.5 million now, and with the wins and losses not going his way, he'll be pretty cheap again for 2019. Probably in the $8-9 million range? There's nothing wrong with taking this one year at a time and seeing what happens. If he's still awesome all the way through 2019, the Twins have a great problem to deal with.
  5. Yeah, I would push him along more aggressively than others. The bat appears to be legit, so let's get him up to AA for a month or so. Other teams have the luxury of finding an advanced bat and pushing them along quickly. Maybe Kiriloff is our guy.
  6. If a player warrants 5 pages of discussion in less than 12 hours, that's the kind of player other teams want.
  7. Re: Papa John's This is going to get ugly before it gets better for them. https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/26/news/companies/papa-johns-lawsuit-john-schnatter/index.html I wonder if they'll have to change the name and re-brand themselves after this mess.
  8. Hitting the baseball is so hard as it is. I'm fine with batters 'mastering' the strike zone... As long as they put the ball in play, and not just look for a walk every PA.
  9. Probably not a good sign this is the 2nd time he's been traded in 3 years.
  10. I had an interesting conversation with a co-worker relating to Tesla, and evolved to a general investment strategy... Is it wise to invest in an organization where the CEO is the brand? I'm not so sure these days.... Papa John's is toast now that Papa John was discovered to be a racist. When people think Tesla, they think Elon Musk, who has his fair share of issues as well. If the CEO has dirt brought up from his past or present, people can't separate the brand from the CEO.
  11. Tesla may be a disrupter one day, but I can't see Elon Musk being the one to lead them that way... He's gone off the rails since his breakup with Amber Heard.
  12. I lean towards Seth's stance in this debate. The shifts are ridiculous and baseball is becoming more like slow pitch softball with 4 OFs out there. Implement a rule that infielders need to touch the dirt at all times. Robot umpires will be a thing... The pitch clock should be implemented ASAP. There is no reason why players can play with the pitch clock all throughout the minors, then toss it all out the window when they are called up to the majors. If the game keeps continuing the way it is with less balls in play, and 3 true outcomes, I doubt I'll be a die-hard fan 10 years from now.
  13. I'm not predicting this, but if you're looking for a trade that would move the needle, trade Pressly and Gibson. Those two will give the Twins a high end prospect we're all looking for.
  14. It wouldn't prevent them from signing anyone. But it certainly hurts their trade value next season... Either the Pohlads will have to eat $6-7 million or they'll receive a worse prospect because the other team takes on $6-7 million in payroll.
  15. The Americans final season will be on Amazon Video this upcoming Sunday. I heard great things about the ending... Can't wait!
  16. Apathy has set in for me. This is the most uninteresting Twins team in the last 5 years IMO. Especially so once Dozier and/or Escobar is traded.
  17. Lots of Minnesota fans appreciate him. Don't be fooled by the loud minority voices on this site. The majority of casual fans will be sad to see him go.
  18. That's baseball for you. At least he's good enough to make up the deficit. On the other side of the coin, LaMarre's one good week masked the next 2 months of him playing bad baseball.
  19. That's my concern as well. Frankly I wasn't sure if he should be back in Minnesota anytime this season. It's encouraging that he's lost 20 lbs but I'm hoping for significant weight loss like Kyle Schwarber did last offseason.
  20. Brian Dozier is the equivalent of North Dakota men's hockey. Every year from October - December they start slow, and fans raise their pitchforks asking to fire the coach. Once January rolls around they get red hot, and end up in the NCAA tournament every year.
  21. If I didn't know better, I would think you're making up names on the Rochester roster... Who are these people? Kremmer, Wilkins, Graterol, Hazelbacker... None of these names register with me.
