  1. A couple starts in a row pitching less than 5 innings for Berrios... Hope he breaks out of the funk.
  2. I mean, that's good news! Though I'm a bit surprised you think so given his slash line. Why do you think they'll move him up right away?
  3. This is fantastic Tom, thanks! Rooker has a sexy slash line over the last 28 days... AAA time would be great to end the year. The sample isn't that small for Kiriloff and Lewis in Fort Myers anymore and they're killing it. I'd love for them both to get their feet wet in AA to end the year. Why such a low K/9 for Enlow? Is he having trouble locating the curve? I was excited for Baddoo to potentially turn a corner this season but he's been cold... He'll have to spend more time in Cedar Rapids next year.
  4. Yep, the same guy! You need to separate your expectations from when he was drafted... They should be different now with 4+ years of professional experience. He's made strides this year to get this far. If you're wondering where the velocity went since HS, he was pitching once every 10 days when he was 18. So he was able to ramp it up to upper 90s and strike out HS caliber players. He's had to adjust from pitching once every 10 days to 5 days and mix his selection of pitches.
  5. Yeah with the names already penciled in the starting rotation next year I concur he probably won't stick. There will be several bullpen spots up for grabs next year though... I'm intrigued to see if he can fill one of them.
  6. Too many unfamiliar names around this team lately... I also thought he was old but that's the RP Drake. Hell, I thought he was Tommy Field earlier today.
  7. Someone is not allowing this org to move forward... Whether that's MoY, ownership, or some other voice behind the scenes. I want to believe this isn't Falvine's vision, recycling through waiver wire fodder.
  8. Re: Dozier You and Aaron asked in the podcast what fans were expecting and what they wanted to do in regards to the trades last week. This fan would have kept him and let him walk in FA, given the return. It was the only trade they made where there was no advantage to the Twins. They didn't gain any financial advantage with Forsythe thrown in. The prospects also don't fill an org need.
  9. Any team needs consistent back end of the rotation guys. It helps that he's left handed and making the minimum. That's valuable.
  10. Lots of stuff to digest here. It was a long week discussing the trades. May has been encouraging since his return. With Pressly gone there's an opening for high leverage situations. Seize the moment Mr. May. Reading Buxton's name right now makes me sad and ill. The FO drew the line of how they value the AAA 'reinforcements' by picking up Drake. They would rather see a 31 year old journeyman than see the AAA guys IMO. I'm becoming increasingly concerned about Gordon. His 2nd half fades are becoming as common as a slow 1st half for Dozier. Call up Rooker to AAA and give him some PAs so he can hit the ground running next season.
  11. It's possible he gets 10 years but very unlikely IMO. We have years and years of data showing long term deals are bad. Even for players like Machado entering FA at a young age. I guess I'd like to know what's more important to him, security of a 10 year deal or opt outs to control his own destiny? Edit: Also, it's going to be tough to beat out the New Yorks and LAs of the world, which is why I propose giving him $60 million upfront next season. Realistic? Not sure. But I would like to see Star Tribune melt down talking about a player making $60 million
  12. I don't think we'll see a 10 year contract ever again. If I were him I'd be looking for a 5-6 year deal to cash in at FA again at 31 years old. And with the player opt outs it could be a contract as short as 2-3 years. Up to 5-6 years if he doesn't opt out. Here's a very rough sketch of what I'm thinking: Year 1: $60 million. The Twins have a ton of money to spend. Take advantage of the situation and give him a boat load up front. Years 2-3: $30 million. Years 4-?: $15-25 million with player opt outs every year. So he gets a guaranteed $120 million the first 3 years of his contract. After that, if he's still awesome, he could opt out and renegotiate. Or go somewhere else. It wouldn't really matter at that point because the Twins got him for his age 26-29 seasons.
  13. I hope there's room in the budget for both the obvious (Machado) and creative solutions. I think we both agree this team needs star power. Machado fits the bill! Creative ways to lure him to Minnesota: - Front loading the hell out of his contract where he sees a majority of it upfront. - Give him opt outs every season after year 3 of the contract. That way if this team crashes and burns, he can get out of here. - Give him the Bobby Bonilla contract and defer payments to him well beyond his playing career.
  14. This is a defining off-season coming up for Falvine. More financial flexibility and prospects to trade than I can ever recall. I want them to put their stamp on this team and be BOLD. The boldest move they could do is recruit and sign Machado. Front load the hell out of that contract and give him $60 million next year if that's what it takes. Be creative. Be bold. Put your stamp on this organization Falvey.
  15. Couldn't agree more. I posted in one of the other Dozier threads he's going to thrive without needing to be the star of the team. I would be rejuvenated too if I was traded on a team that made the WS last season.
  16. Was it worth getting these guys right now at the expense of taking a drop from Dozier to Forsythe? Don't we have some other guys in AA that should be up in AAA as soon as April 2019 like Rooker, Weil, etc?
  17. If you read the rest of my post you will see I question where this person fits into the organization. We're not going to agree on this so I'm moving on.
  18. Fair. I don't think the Twins needed the 2 prospects from LA regardless. I could live with the swap of Dozier for Forsythe if the prospects were worth it. These 2 don't sound like they are. IMO of course.
