  1. Danielle Hunter making an impact today. You love to see it
  2. Usually I am good with most announcing crews. I think Joe Buck gets way too much hate and Collinsworth praises every player on the field. These guys in particular are so over the top for the Giants.
  3. This is shaping up to be Pat Peterson’s worst game of the season.
  4. Did these announcers get dropped off by the Giants’ team bus? My god.
  5. Woah! A screen pass to Hockenson that actually worked out?
  6. My bold prediction - Jefferson signs a record breaking contract extension for non-QBs in the offseason. Wouldn’t surprise me if he gets 30-35 million a year.
  7. This Arctic front has put a damper on a ton of Christmas plans. MSP is such a well oiled machine for an airport. I’m amazed I was able to fly back on Thursday afternoon the day after a massive snowstorm.
  8. If the Mets rescind their offer, call up Boras and put 2/70 back on the table.
  9. He wore out his welcome in Arizona, Cleveland, and Los Angeles. I’m sure Cincinnati Reds players weren’t sad to see him leave either. Someone’s going to pick him up unfortunately. We see all the time in sports that talent trumps character issues.
  10. I would rather draft a mid round QB vs. picking up Zach Wilson. He is terrible. Never understood why he was rated so highly in the first place. He had some fancy Mahomes-like passes in college when he played inferior competition with all day to throw.
  11. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if this was the lineup and pitching staff on August 1, 2023. I would also add Gallo to the trade list. The only reason he’s here is to see if he has a hot 3 months to flip him for a decent prospect.
  12. What’s your conclusion looking at raw numbers of rookie seasons? Why did you choose to look at that specific sample?
  13. You know what people expect from a development pipeline Mike… To draft and develop a starting pitcher. Hasn’t happened yet. Another disagreement in your argument is you calling Varland and Ober successes. Varland and SWR have a cup of coffee in the majors. They are still TBD in my analysis. There is upside with Ober for sure, but he has only topped 100 innings once in his professional career. Injuries happen, but they are a trend for Ober every year. I hope this is the year we finally see if there’s anything substantial with the pipeline. Diehard fans can rattle off 10 names every offseason to convince themselves that the pipeline is deep. I’m old enough to remember when Alex Meyer was crowned future ace of the team. And Stephen Gonsalves being a mid rotation starter. Until we see actual results, it’s nothing but selling hope.
  14. A) In what way did we dodge a bullet? The Giants are chicken bleeps who got cold feet. As evidenced by 2 other teams that we know of (NYM and us) offering 10+ years. B) The fallout is the same for the Mets for the last 36 years. Except now they have a rouge owner that is on a rampage buying the league. Sounds like a lot of fun to be a fan of them at the moment.
  15. Why? Sounds like buyer’s remorse, and they’re blaming the physical. What could possibly pop up on his medical record that isn’t covered by insurance?
  16. I would venture to guess the same conclusion can be made for fans of NL Central teams. The 12 Pirates fans hate their owner, Cincinnati Reds have a mix of overpaid veterans and prospects, Chicago Cubs have an owner that acts like they’re a mid market team, St. Louis tries at least, and the Brewers are on a typical mid market team cycle.
  17. 8 fWAR lost in free agency and trade: Correa (4.4), Urshela (2.4), Bundy (0.7), Archer (0.5) 3.6 fWAR recovered in free agency and trade: Vazquez (1.6) Gallo (0.6) Farmer (1.4) Royce Lewis is not coming back to save the day. We will be lucky to see him before August 1. Even then he’ll be rushed back with little to no minor league rehab time. Kirilloff underwent a last resort surgery that is unheard of for a professional baseball player. This is a 90+ loss team as it’s current constructed. What now? Choose a path, as @Mike Sixelfamously says. They have to deplete the farm system even more, making 2 or 3 trades for MLB players. Or decide to build for 2024+ and trade away Maeda, Gray, Arraez, etc.
  18. I’ll start with the Rays… And including their fWAR and current teams in parentheses. 10 players in, and the Rays have far exceeded the Twins fWAR total. On Active MLB rosters: 14 total Wander Franco (4.7), Vidal Brujan (-0.9), Brandon Lowe (11.3), Jesus Sanchez (MIA 1.4), Matthew Liberatore (STL 0.0), Nick Solak (TX/CIN, 1.2), Shane Baz (0.3), Lucius Fox (WAS -0.6), Nathaniel Lowe (TB/TX 5.1), Taylor Walls (-0.1), Anthony Banda (0.5), Shane McClanahan (6.0), Colin Pache (0.3), Ian Gibaut (CIN 0.5) Players in the minors: Brendan McKay, Brent Honeywell, Ronaldo Hernandez, Moises Gomez, Joe McCarthy, Josh Lowe, Resly Linares, Nick Schnell, Tyler Frank, Jose De Leon, Drew Strotman, Garrett Whitley, Tanner Dodson, Jelfry Marte, Alejandro Pie, Tobias Myers McKay and Honeywell have had cups of coffee in the majors. So you could argue over half of their FanGraphs top 30 are major leaguers.
  19. I have no idea what to expect in the playoffs. In fact, I’m fully prepared to have our hearts broken in the most devastating fashion. But man, think about how many unlikely, one in a million odds that have gone in the Vikings favor this year in the regular season. This is without a doubt the most bonkers Vikings season in my adult life.
  20. How many years were there complaints from fans about Terry Ryan before Total System Failure? I’m ready to move on from the regime, but I have zero expectation that the Pohlads and DSP are. In fact, what’s happening this offseason is in near alignment from DSP’s tone deaf comments at the beginning of the offseason. Slashing the payroll until fans decide to show up to Target Field.
  21. Stepping back is always an option with this FO. They’re in no real danger internally of losing their jobs.
