  1. another example of Mauer not being an RBI guy and working the walk instead :-)
  2. Plouffe was a top 10 3B last year and is in his prime, those guys aren't available all the time. Yeah, it took him quite awhile to become this player but then again, maybe if the organization realized he wasn't a shortstop a long time ago, it wouldn't have taken so long.
  3. 'NOBODY expected the Twins to shell out big bucks or top prospects for a bona fide stud CF this off season. Why would you when you had Buxton on the way' If we had gotten one through trade, though, he wouldn't have to stay in CF whenever Buxton (The guaranteed stud that will lift us from the depths of despair and will be awesome right away) showed up, right?
  4. If Hunter makes the hall of fame or even comes close I will eat my shorts.
  5. 'When Is It Time To Take Action?' About two years ago, at least. When an injury plagued season was followed up by a really bad season.
  6. Hey, but just wait, all these prospects are coming. It's all about the prospects. Guaranteed winning with all these top prospects.:-)
  7. I think a lot like the Hughes extension based on ONE great season he had with us. Will they like it if he goes back to being the NY Hughes?
  8. 'I don't think anyone could've predicted they'd be this bad' There were plenty of people who predicted they would be this bad.
  9. I know it sounds petty and makes little sense to some, but him saying he'd rather be back in LA than in Minnesota doesn't sit well with some Minnesota natives.
  10. Even the nice catch he had in the first few games of the season, (the sort of dive he had close to the RF line coming in on the ball), he hesitated on his initial break to the ball and when he was running to it he took forever to get to 'full speed'. That 'great catch' that passed some fans eye test would have been much easier for most RF.
  11. Dodgers already got the Rays GM that did such a good job and the Cubs got their field manager.
  12. Or maybe they just believed/had faith in Ryan's opinion as opposed to those ridiculous defensive metrics :-)
  13. Our horrendous OF defense (and really overall defense) was an obvious flaw going into this season.
  14. that's what's been happening the last couple years. no surprise it's happening again. We had more than a full run difference between our ERA and FIP last year. Easily the largest difference in the majors.
  15. Ah, c'mon, OF defense can't possible be responsible for THAT kind of difference
  16. I didn't see the game, can you tell those of us who missed the game how the defense once again let us down?
  17. In fairness, I put a ' :-)' in the post. I'm just old school about my emoticons :-)
  18. I'd like to think the baseball IQ here is double (at least) than that of the strib.
  19. I still can't believe people thought the White Sox would be playoff contenders this year.
