  1. I also think it's naive to think that when a pitcher supposedly plunks a guy for pimping, part of that anger doesn't stem from his (or his teammates) lack of ability to execute his pitches or just getting beat. A pitcher can hide behind the whole 'he was pimping' thing all they want when they hit someone, but it's more than likely it's just whining because his team keeps getting beat by a guy. Do your job, shut him down if you can, and if you can't tip your hat, move on and get better. P.S. I just don't know about my computer. All this font change and movement, not planned at all.
  2. I absolutely hate the idea of purposely hitting people. What KC was allowed to do to the Jays last week was an embarrassment to the game and that umpire crew needs to be punished. Saying we should plunk someone out the gate in the hopes he'll have a bad remaining game is something I hope my team never endorses.
  3. All this has all been covered including the part that said it's been 5 seasons since Ramos left and there's been plenty of time to address the catcher position. Suzuki isn't starting for us now because Smith traded Ramos. Smith didn't make Ryan sign Suzuki last year nor did he make him re-sign him for two years. That's all Ryan. He had plenty of time to address the problem correctly. The closest thing to true that could be said is that Ramos might have been our starting catcher right now if Smith hadn't traded him. Cause that's all we know for sure. Then again, Ryan might have done something differently in the last 4 years and he still might not be our catcher.
  4. Are you saying that foreseeing the lack of action was a difficult task? Cause, yeah, not so much :-)
  5. I agree his career OPS is better than what we have now, but that has a lot to do with who TR decided to be our catcher this year and next. There's nothing to say he couldn't have addressed the situation differently. It's been 5 seasons since Ramos left, it's not why we specifically have Suzuki now. Additionally, we used to have a catcher that people complained about his games played. Look at Ramos over the last three years going into this year. 25, 78, 88 games played. He's played over 88 games exactly once.
  6. I thought we were starting Kurt Suzuki this year and next year because TR ridiculously thought he had turned some kind of corner offensively and re-signed him. And we really need to get past the idea Ramos is some kind of stud. He's not
  7. Ryan hasn't ever done anything significant at the deadline. When we were serious playoff contenders, when we weren't. Never. It's a trend. And it's funny because both ways can be defended for him to do nothing. If we are serious contenders, why change anything, we are fine. If we aren't serious contenders, why bother getting better players when we likely aren't going to the playoffs.
  8. From today's chat with Dave Cameron: Comment From David What trade do you think was the biggest overpay or underpay? Dave Cameron: Rob Kaminsky for Brandon Moss seemed like a high price for STL to pay for a platoon guy with a bad hip having a mediocre season. And the Tulo deal was probably the cheapest acquisition of a high-level player we’ve seen at the deadline in a while.
  9. I was out of pocket for a bit having surgery. Thought maybe he was moved back and I hadn't heard.
  10. I have enjoyed this season. We've been able to see a lot of youngsters, we are still in the playoff hunt , and we'll win around 74, 75 games. It's an improvement and I'm happy with that. Yes, I wish more had been done at the deadline and there have been some moves I really had issues with, but overall, it's been a fun season.
  11. I know you didn't say anything about the Twins FO, but reading your quote I wondered if it extended to the Twins FO? Since, you know, they fit what you're saying more than the two examples you gave (TB and Atlanta) AND Oakland who has been to the playoffs the last three seasons. Also, for years, TB and Oakland got more win for the buck than pretty much anyone.
  12. I'm curious as to who is calling the Braves front office great. Oh, and you do know the Braves went to the playoffs in 2010,2012 and 2013, right?. And that they fired their GM after not making it in 2014 and have a new GM? You also know the Rays also have a brand new front office this season and have gone to the playoffs twice since the last time we went? P.S., does you post that apply to the Twins FO? Haven't made the playoffs since 2010 and haven't won a playoff series since 2002.
  13. it sure would be, but now is the time to get us ready for this. I'd rather see Rosario in LF, Buxton in CF, Hicks in RF, let Vargas and Arcia battle for DH
  14. I'm sticking to what I said early July. I'll be very happy if they win 75. I can't imagine them being able to finish with 81 or more wins. Our schedule remaining is rough and we've started sliding. I hope you are right Brock.
  15. I'd argue that getting those three pitchers (two coming off injury and/or surgery, one not posting an ERA in the NL under 4.18 in three previous seasons, and all of them cheap), didn't come close to qualifying as doing everything he could to significantly improve the 2013 rotation. That's scrape the bottom of the barrel type shopping that, extremely predictably, did not come close to working out.
  16. 3 teams have allowed a higher percentage of inherited runners to score than the Twins (Twins have allowed 34% to score) and only one team has allowed more actual inherited runners to score. Sorry, you said you didn't want to know. :-)
  17. remember the offseason before the 2013 season when he told the season ticket holders and possible season ticket holders in their annual banquet that he would do everything possible to significantly improve the rotation for 2013 and he went and got Worley, Pelfrey and Correia? Man of his word.
  18. Perhaps active shoppers (though not surprisingly no rumors to speak of as MLB Network pointed out tonight, so who knows), but inactive actual buyers.
  19. I might use the word perhaps instead of probably, but other than that I concur.
  20. Instead they just move him to the bullpen and use him in completely low leverage situations :-)
  21. I'm glad Sano looked good but one game doesn't tell us anything. I'm rooting for him though. and what a great game to see!
  22. this site is freaking out on me (like it often does). I quoted someone else when I responded to that and it didn't show up :-)
