  1. Unless his health cannot handle starting, I don't like that idea too much... For Sept/October of 2019, I suppose, but we cannot keep sending every good starter to the pen as people around here seem to suggest.
  2. if that was the ask, Falvey was right to hang up the phone. The Mets won't unload Thor with that type of ask. I'm guessing prices will come down. You're starting to see it with the Stroman and Romo trades. It should be pretty clear to the Met's brass that Thor won't get them that much. As for what I'd trade. I'm not sure. It really depends if the FO thinks they can fix him, because right now, Thor is not an ace. He was an ace. If they are confident that they can fix him, sure, I'd part with one of the big 3 as a headliner to bring him here.
  3. yeah, I think this was ultimately a good trade... They had no place for Diaz and got Romo plus some pitching help. I'm not going to complain. I will compain if this is it. Good article though. These are the types of articles that make TD a great place to visit. Well done.
  4. I think Odo signs his offer.... and if one was extended to Gibson or Pineda, they would too. The QO is a kiss of death to pitchers who can be described as decent but not great.
  5. Did I miss a report that said they wanted them both? I remember seeing something about one of them headlining a deal... but not both.
  6. The problem with this is that those guys likely not the ground running when they hit MLB. You've got to factor that development time in as well. I think you probably keep the best the option there, but I could definitely see them moving one of our top 3 pitching prospects for help that will be here longer than this year. Sure... you don't move them all, but for the right guy, you move one.
  7. That's fair, but I think it's right to say that Cron is on the ideal side of that metric. I do agree that he could potentially be upgraded, and if the cost is right why not... but... I would argue pretty vehemently that he's better than replacement. We've seen replacement level (or below) at 1B before. Cron isn't that. He may not be league average for 1B... but that doesn't mean he's a replacement player... if anything, it was a good acquisition for a fairly reasonable price. I'm not really liking our other options at 1B if we didn't have him.
  8. WAR stands for wins above replacement, does it not... Anything positive is technically better than a replacement player. I don't have a problem with them looking to upgrade Cron this offseason... You always look for upgrades, but I doubt a minor leaguer walks in and out performs him, and I'm not going to call him a replacement player.
  9. I think a lot of times there are a list of players that they agree to work through... Then again, some PTBNLs turn out good. Liriano was the PTBNL in the AJ trade.
  10. Lance Lynn has the second highest WAR of all starting MLB pitchers this season... only one higher is Scherzer. His K rate is up and BB rate is down... everything else is within career norms... I can understand history being a blocker here... but this is about as high as you can aim right now.
  11. This deal has the feel of a prospect for prospect swap. In that sense, I don't mind it. Diaz wasn't going to make this team and needed to be on the 40 man. We got some relief there for a couple prospects and happened to get a MLB releiver out of it too... I like the fact that Romo seems to have been pretty good since April... but like others, Romo is a pretty underwhelming add. I hope it's not the only one.
  12. It all may have been. We don't know. What we do know is the FO specifically said they wanted to avoid 1 year contracts because of the problems they caused... not sure if that was Lynn, Morrison, or what... but that is something they said... and you're right, it may be scapegoating.
  13. Interesting. I suppose if they were to give up a top 10 guy for a reliver... this would be the type of move where it makes sense to do it.
  14. I wanted him when we signd him last year... It does sound like he was one of the one sulking around when he got his 1 year deal... I certainly don't want him bringing that back to the club house... Flip side is that when he was traded, he was performing (let's not forget that this started while he was still here, he just had an ugly spring that made his numbers look bad overall). I woudln't be against it... Lynn has been one of the best pichers in baseball this year. I'm just hoping there would be no repeat of the locker room issues.
  15. Diekman doesn't excite me, but I'd be happy with the rest of the names here. We need help. I'd like 2 relievers. I'm not against another starter that pushes Perez to the pen on top of that.
  16. I can definitely get behind Kennedy. He should be cheap to acquire, and if Falvey was telling the truth about payroll, this is a good idea. I'm still hoping for more in the likes of Smith, Giles, Yates...
  17. I think we should petition Brock to create a bull pen or pitching forum given the attention it's gotten of late.
  18. Here's an interesting one: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/07/yankees-trade-catcher-twins-brian-navarreto.html Not that Navarreto has much of a chance at breaking the bigs…
  19. I would argue that the 40 man guys (or some of the prospects currently on the 40 man) should be top consideration to move. There's a lot of names that need to be added this offseason. Obviously, we won't be able to trade all of them, but moving a couple guys would be beneficial.
  20. Those odds don't look right to me... a 2 game lead should not equate to a 90% chance of winning the division.. yes, Cleveland has a tough stretch coming up shortly and we have an easy one, but with a 2 game lead, I'd call this a 2 team race that either team can win... Bottom line is that the Twins need to get healthy, get some help, and play some better ball (particularly on the defensive side)... we've given away too many games when we should have had our foot on their throat.
  21. and it's why we need robo umps. The game should have been decided by correct calls... the ones missed against the Yankees... and that one. Who knows what the final result is, but the calls should have been correct. They weren't.
