  1. Right now, CJ Cron is posting a 81 OPS+. He's not getting it done. His defense is good but he's not going to stop the Twins from bringing up an uber-prospect, much like Dougie Baseball didn't stop us from bringing up Morneau.
  2. Currently, the Twins minor leagues have given us a few pleasant surprises (Balozavic, Rortvedt, Jeffers, Arreaz) but a lot of injuries (Javier, Kiriloff, Gordon, Gonsalves, Severino) and some rough starts (Larnich .682 OPS in, Rooker .269 OBP, Thorpe 8.19 era, Enlow 6.94 era, Baddoo .198 avg, Celestino .458 OPS) among our top 20 prospects. I'm still a believer in most of our struggling guys but Enlow is a head scratcher. He's never looked good. I think Kiriloff is going to be a Mauer-like bat for us for a decade. Maybe a few more homers but huge avg/obp guy. Really nice to see him hitting and taking walks in AA.
  3. Royce Lewis is starting to heat up a bit as well - he's had five 2 hit games in his last 8 games. Balazovic is going to skyrocket up these lists. I think he's already our second best pitching prospect. That 2016 draft is going to be amazing for us.
  4. Hoping NEWR has a nice run, as well. Additionally, while I don't own Adobe but my kids do and that's been on a nice run.
  5. mlbpipeline likes him well enough and Atlanta just promoted him to AA. He's certainly not a lock to make it to the majors and he might end up as a bullpen arm.
  6. Graterol and Balazovic are really exciting prospects. Jax pitching a lot better than I thought he could. I remember thinking he wouldn't be top 30 in our system last year. He's really stepped up now that he's pitching full time.
  7. I'm not very impressed with the pitchers in our top 20, outside of Graterol. Nice to see Smeltzer pitch well but his upside is limited. The FO made a lot of trades at the deadline the last two years but I'm not sure the returns are all that inspiring. Certainly too early to make a final decision but, ugh. I'd much rather have Ynoa back than Littell. Nice to have Gordon and Kiriloff back and good to see Sano is moving. Seems like Lewis is getting hot, too.
  8. Seriously, Mike, thanks for the Shopify suggestion. That is a fun stock.

  10. He certainly has the talent to be in the discussion but so do others. I expect he'll be #1 on a few lists by the end of the year though. But Mize threw a no-hitter tonight in AA.
  11. Kepler's blast looked like a classic Thome blast. wow. Loved the Cruz signing. He'll be the AL's all-star at DH this year.
  12. I'm certainly not ready to defend the new FO on this and you don't want to hear "it's early." But, it's early. In 2015, Sano hit .163/.299/.388 through the first week of May. Commentators here were saying that he was rushed back from his injury, they should move him back to A ball, etc. He was in the majors two months later and finished 3rd in ROY voting. Generally, you should trust the talent. Lewis is too good to be this bad. I'm more worried about guys like Enlow and the pitchers we picked up in the trade deadline the last two years. But Lewis and Kiriloff and Larnich will be good ML players. Rooker might end up being a Palka-like player but I think that's his floor.
  13. Graterol is impressive. It's also nice to see Cabbage doing well. This is a make or break year for him but it looks like he's stepping up.
  14. On the OF, I think Wade and Raley can be a solid corner OFers defensively but one is playing out of position in CF now. As to Rooker, I would expect him to be a below avg defender. So, realistically, the Red Wings are playing two LFers and a 1B in the OF on most nights.
  15. Disney streaming services are going to be huge. We own some Disney and my wife and I were talking about buying more into our IRAs. We waited and now Disney is up over 10% today.
  16. Well, right now we're probably 95% stock/index funds and I really want to raise the cash part. We'll move around some of that cash so we both can add 6k to our IRA but then we'll have even less cash in our investment account ... so, I don't think we'll do even a small buy until fall.
  17. I decided I'd pass on Uber and Lyft. Partly b/c I'm stashing money for our IRA contributions* but I'm just a bit stock heavy and I probably should hoard cash for a while. I'll probably regret that. *I realize I could buy uber for my IRA.
  18. For those who have them, note that your IRA contribution limit increased this year to $6,000.
  19. What do you tech folks know of Slack?
  20. Everyone is different and I'm still paying off some of my student loans. But in my thirties my wife and I just decided we'd put X amount into longterm savings (as opposed to a short term savings account) and only lived off of what was left, which required some changes to how we lived. The longterm savings is in an investment account which we've filled mostly with individual stocks but a little bit of index funds as well. It's probably the smartest thing we've done as adults but I wish I had done it sooner.
  21. I agree with most of this. I was hoping he'd break out a while ago but he's really struggling. The one potential thing to remember is that he is a switch hitter and it might take a switch hitter longer to develop, esp since Cabbage didn't come from a baseball hot-bed and didn't play it all year round. He might be like Nico Goodrum who just needed 2000+ minor league at-bats before we know who he is. Cabbage has less than 800 so far.
