  1. No memories yet. I don't even know how to pronounce his first name! Yo-Han? Ju-wan? John? Juan? None of the above?
  2. Add Polanco to the group and you probably have the best trio in Twins history ( both offensively and defensively). And I go back to when Reno Bertoia played.

  4. As a first responder (not like a paramedic or police officer or a fireman, but as a Twins Daily commenter), I am looking forward to a 90-win season, a top 10 pitching staff, multiple Gold Gloves, possible batting title, and MVP votes for several players. I am also looking forward to refilling my medicine bottles. Side effects may include delusional thinking, reduced cognitive ability, and a big smile. Happy 2022 baseball season everyone. Edit: While I was typing, dex8425 snuck in before me negating my "first responder" status
  5. DirecTV is offering a free look at it's MLB package this weekend. I predict it will be similar to their free preview of their NHL package when not a single Wild game was aired during the preview. The MLB preview starts Thursday (already postponed) and runs through the weekend. You should expect all Twins games to be postponed until the free trial ends.
  6. Being half asleep, I only saw the words "Royce Lewis" in the header. I thought it was another article about Lewis preparing for the season. When I clicked on the link and immediately saw the link to the Saints box score, I knew it was the minor league daily recap, and the joy of baseball returned. This has been my favorite column since I joined TD and the one I always save for the last read. Yippee!!!
  7. That's what she said! Oops, sorry. I've been watching too many reruns of Two and a Half Men.
  8. Now that's a great idea. Let's start two Twins Daily Pool: one for Bundy and one for Archer. Anyone who wishes to enter the pool has to guess for both players they day on which they get DFA'd. Closest to the actual date wins.
  9. That almost sounds like real life where, no matter what you learned in college and what degree was bestowed on you, the company with which you begin your career tells you to forget college because "this is how we do it."
  10. The picture at the top of the article makes me wonder why every pitcher doesn't blow out his elbow. The look of severe strain in that picture is brutal.
  11. I would offer San Diego Kepler, Arraez, Sanchez, and a prospect (one of the following - Woods-Richardson, Hernandez, Rodriquez, Strotman) for Paddock, Caratini, and Hosmer. Hosmer has to be thrown in to give the Padres salary relief. The Twins could release him and just eat the remaining salary if they had to.
  12. Balazovic, Winder, Canterino, Enlow, Strotman, Sands, Gonzales, Rodriguez, Woods-Richardson, Hernandez. That's ten pitchers in the high minors looking to win a spot in the Twins rotation. If just two accomplish that goal this year, then the rotation looks damn good for several years. And there is even a chance that Maeda may return. As David Carradine used to say - "Patience, Grasshopper".
  13. I never said that. I only pointed out that people express opinions as cold, had facts.
  14. I'm relieved. It's really refreshing to read an optimistic article for a change. Very well done by both posters above and there are no negative Nelly's replying! (I know there is only the initial post and two comments so far. But the complainers usually start right away.)
  15. I think there might have been some "cut and paste" in the evaluation of Moran. It appears that the analysis was written last year with just 2021 changed to 2022. I'm pretty sure he hasn't struck out 40% of minor league hitters this year. ? ?
  16. I'm willing to predict that if Winder gets off to a bad start, there will be plenty of Twins Daily regular posters who will be calling for his immediate removal from Minneapolis. Personally, I would hope he doesn't get sent down but if that happens, I will look at it as a chance to make the necessary improvements to rejoin the Twins in August/September.
  17. I agree with your point. The comment you reacted to was about if his statement was really a fact or his interpretation of past events. So I didn't think it made any sense as far as the discussion was concerned. And by the way, I think participation medals are the stupidest thing ever introduced to youth sports.
  18. I have said it often and I'll say it again... Much of the bitching aimed at the front office for not buying free agents or for not trading for (insert your favorite name here) is backed up by nothing. Does anyone know for a fact (and saying that "it seems obvious" is not a fact) that the front office did NOT pursue free agent top-tier pitching? I don't think so. Does anyone know for a fact (see previous sentence) that it was the Twins that didn't get a trade done with Oakland? I don't think so. It takes two sides (or three if you want to include the agents of free agents) to complete any transaction (either signing a free agent or making a trade). The Twins' front office can only make attempts.
  19. Reading that article was like playing Strato-matic baseball. Lots of numbers but pretty meaningless when you add in the human factor. I guess that's why so many people use the phrase "that's why we play the game."
  20. I'm sure they would. I know a guy who knows a guy that could just happen to drop by the Marlin offices and have a talk with whomever is in charge of making trades. Know what I mean? ⛏️???
  21. I think Rocco needs Godoy closer than right across the river. He needs Godoy on the bench for in-game decisions.
