  1. Trying to generate interest for the return to the old (essentially) way of drafting prospects in the Adopt-A-Prospect forum.
  2. Look, at this point in the "rebuild" (just imagine that this is happening for a second) the Twins should have already found out basically who to build around and should already have added the real FAs to fill in the gaps. But they are rolling with the likes of Darrin Mastroianni, Juan Centeno, and Casey Fien and co. in the bullpen.
  3. Tossing Aaron Hicks away for a Murphy, who was obviously going to be bad (not this terrible, but still) was an awful decision (Hicks has been bad offensively for the Yankees, but he had been playing one out of every three games for the Yankees until Ellsbury went down--every day PAs would help him). Banking on Kevin Jepsen (I really should dig up my history of posts on that guy for "I told so" moments) to be an anchor with Perkins instead of adding another high quality reliever was a mistake. Favoring a declining 3B over a likely superstar and putting that superstar out in the OF is a horrific mistake. If several of us morons on a sports jabbering site (no offense, TD) can see this ahead of time, what does that say about the GM?
  4. Wow, somehow I hadn't been paying attention to Chris Herrmann this year. .844 OPS.

  6. The days of continued defense of Terry Ryan surely have to be over around here, eventually, right?
  7. It was an obvious mistake to make that trade. He is not a major league player. End of story.
  8. I like the Twins having a full roster of legitimate players who have futures. I do think that Kepler probably benefits more from AAA time in this scenario, but it isn't ruinous. Buxton or Rosario going back down would be bad. There are just times where it all has to come together in MLB. The minors involves hand-holding, ultimately (overall . . . of course there are times, especially at AA where this not true), and at certain point learning in the majors, even with reduced playing time, is more beneficial.
  9. Good god. I mean, really? Just. Go. With. Youth. Now. And. Take. The. Bumps. Two years two late, but it still needs to happen. This is a silly signing (in that they clearly want him to do well quickly in AAA to join the Twins). What a joke. Don't trade your CF for a backup catcher.
  10. Didn't Sano start out horrifically last year at AA too? I am only concerned about the obviously stupid move to RF having an effect, but I am not worried that there is a serious regression going on. Spring Training means absolutely nothing. Hopefully hopes weren't raised because of the end of March! Good lord. ST means nothing and is totally worthless as a predictor for the regular season. They shouldn't even count wins and losses.
  11. They are both going to put up roughly the same numbers: .264/.322/.346 (.668) for Suzuki .272/.315/.361 (.676) for Murphy
  12. Until you get actually specific with your complaints, I am not going to listen. Besides, there are literally a hundred good stories for our TD folks to cover . . .
  13. Their hand was not forced with regard to Plouffe. But, damn it, hopefully it is (in terms of trading him) at some point this season (isn't another David Wright injury just waiting to happen?). Sano belongs at third, and a Rosario-Buxton-Kepler OF has me excited.
  14. I am scared about real regression from Jepsen this year, not Perkins. That said, assume Jepsen is good again. This doesn't have to be a "dual closer" situation at all, but it could just mean spelling Perkins once a month, even. I think Perkins through 32 innings through June last year. How many innings were thrown in 3-run leads OR in blowouts just to "get work in" I wonder? Eliminate those and I bet he has 25/25 innings for the first half and second half.
  15. Again, laughter ensues here. A Mauer article gets them out of the woodwork every time. Every time.
  16. This discussion makes me laugh. Joe Mauer will be in the Hall of Fame.
