    2017 roster

The OF should be one of the best. I don't really know what to do about the infield that doesn't sacrifice the bats of Sano, Polanco, and Dozier.

    2017 roster

I love the non-insane idea of a lineup that looks like this: Buxton Mauer Dozier Kepler Sano Vargas Polanco Rosario Garver/Murphy Backup catcher, Escobar, Park, and Palka/Walker on the bench. Santana May Berrios Gibson Santiago Pressly O'Rourke Hughes Tonkin Rogers Duffey X I am really not sure about the bullpen. Perkins might be done. Kintzler cannot be trusted. May has said for two years that the bullpen role creates injury problems.
  3. I trust literally no one else, so even trade-happy Shane says to keep him for the remainder of his contract unless things get crazy next year with 5 other starters . . .
  4. The Hall of Fame is a joke anyway. Regardless, though, he will make it in.
  5. This is an old baseball pitcher thing, but he is Aiming and not Throwing. The mechanics demonstrate that.
  6. Obviously not. I don't understand how this is a thing or why anyone would consider it.
  7. Garver, Turner, and Murphy compete out of the gates in spring training. I have been clear about doubting Murphy. But the other two probably get the job done. I would just trust them or go big after Ramos.
  8. I would actually not watch the Twins if they signed that guy.
  9. Maybe someone has mentioned this, but who has the greater WAR, Buxton or Santana? Buxton goes down to AAA and dominates it again. And nothing is learned by anyone. Play him everyday in the majors. How is this even remotely difficult to understand with a team struggling for 70 wins?
  10. Granite's OBP isn't driven by his BA, so I don't like the Revere comparison. I would put him as a lock for the AFL. He is a true 4th OF.
  11. Yes, this is exactly right. I would add giving some love for James Beresford after the trading of Nunez, Plouffe and Escobar.
  12. Having all three of Nunez, Escobar, and Polanco at this point is pretty silly. Trading two of them seems to be in order. Still not convinced that Polanco can't play short, but whatever.
  13. The feel goodness is heightened by the fact that there may be trade partners for Suzuki and Grossman now.
  14. I probably swap out Pressly for Stewart here. And I would worry about losing Romero, Landa, and R. Rosario.
  15. 6. Is Berrios. 7. Meyer to the bullpen for good. 8. Melotakis, Burdi, and Hildenberger probably all need a look by August. 9. Trades all over the place. Nunez and Abad have to go immediately before full pumpkin time. Suzuki will fit as a backup somewhere. Obviously, Plouffe needs to go, as I have been saying for over a year. I would consider trading Escobar as well. 10. Play Polanco at SS to see what is up. 11. Free UTIL Beresford. 12. Palka and Walker would be fun in September.
  16. Great article. I have no clue how anyone defends hanging on to Nunez while he is at the absolute peak of his career right now. And Plouffe already peaked.
  17. All because of the infatuation with Trevor Plouffe. Sano is just fine at third. Long-term planning would have had Mauer at third and Sano at first. I still think trading Plouffe and not trading Hicks would have had a domino effect this year. Before the squad starts talking about Hicks 2016 in NY, keep in mind that there is a weird L/R split there this year and that playing every day would have moved those numbers up significantly. And then they could have kept Buxton down until now-ish. They would have been able to have Sano, Mauer, Park, and Arcia in the lineup together. Rosario could have been sent down sooner. Weird lineup manipulations at the top could have been avoided. I would have liked the team to be rolling with: Hicks, RF Mauer, 1B Sano, 3B Arcia/Park DH in a semi-platoon Dozier, 2B Rosario, LF Polanco, SS Salty/Suzuki C Buxton, CF with Kepler being the main guy to rotate in for three OF positions and first base. I will settle for: Polanco, SS Mauer, 1B Sano, 3B Park, DH Dozier, 2B Kepler, RF Rosario, LF Garver, C (promote to AAA today please) Buxton, CF by August 1st. Plouffe, Nunez, Escobar, Suzuki all get traded for whatever can actually be had for them. Bench of Santana, Beresford, Grossman, and Turner
  18. Eduardo Nunez and Trevor Plouffe should have been traded. Arcia should have split time with Park regularly. Molitor should learn how to manage a bullpen so that the team only needs seven relievers.
  19. A late September lineup of: Buxton, CF (or maybe Polanco, SS) Mauer, 1B Sano, 3B Arcia/Park DH Kepler, RF Polanco, SS (or Buxton, CF) Dozier, 2B Garver, C Rosario, LF Would have me watching the Twins. And viewing Eddie as the 9 guy might be helpful.
