  1. it was a play and the Twins fell for it. The way Boras was needling around out in California for offers judging by the interest he got from the Dodgers and other big market teams should have been a big red flag to Falvey. I sure hope though that they don't intend to roll with Farmer full time. If they don't make any other notable acquisitions in this offseason they really do need to throw in the towel and start over. This round of prospects is just not good enough to build on besides Buxton and a couple of others.
  2. i tend to agree. I think this was a bad deal even for the Giants. 13 years, 350 million for Correa, knaw no thanks. That's too much, WAY TOO MUCH and far too long. Roll with Lewis and see where that goes, it's not like Correa would have made this team a world series contender anyways and he wouldn't have. This team has too many holes at other positions to sink that kind of money into ONE GUY at this period of time. I also find it quite interesting that a very vocal contingent on this forum keeps saying that the Twins should have signed Correa at all costs and keeps implying that those who think otherwise are somehow crazy when the poll on this topic is quite the opposite, chuckles
  3. I'm all for figuratively blowing the team up and starting over from scratch. This current crop of young talent aside from Buxton and a couple of others is not a competitive playoff bound team and likely never will be with the current level of talent, plus the gaping holes in the infield, behind the plate, and in the starting staff. Too many to be precise. Start over, trade everyone that is tradeable, find a new GM, rework the entire coaching staff, and find a new Manager. Clean house top to bottom. Falvey has had more than enough time to get this team on track and it's not working. It has been 18 years since the last time the Twins won a playoff game. That is completely unacceptable.
  4. Sorry but 13 years 350 million for Correa was insanity. I'm glad the Twins didn't sign him to that deal. It would have tied their hands financially for years. Good riddance.
  5. i would be happy as a pig in you know what if they managed to do just that.
  6. Those are some pretty good deals being offered. What about Boxing day specials? That's big in Ohhh Canada our home and native land.......
  7. i generally agree, however he might be worth paying more for. I think the Twins need him badly enough to pay a bit more than they would typically pay to get him. I still don't think it will happen with the Dodgers in the mix, but you never know.
  8. I agree. I'd rather not tie up that much money up in one player when Lewis is on deck as the future. This team needs a catcher, at least one good starter (Rodon comes to mind), and other pieces. Correa will tie up too much funds when the rest of the team is full of holes like swiss cheese.
  9. I don't like either one of them. Twins need to find a catcher this offseason.
  10. yeah they would love him for a year or two and then grow tired of him. (I spent almost 6 years in Japan teaching english)
  11. maybe. But his eye at the plate was always mediocre to poor except for two seasons when he seem to really connect. Not everyone becomes a superstar hitter and it looks like Sano is definitely never going to become one.
  12. it might not be enough. Professional athletes are notorious for blowing their money and being dirt poor after they stop playing.
  13. Rodon and Contreras would be my top pursuits this offseason if i were the Twins. Contreras will take BIGGGG money to sign and Rodon won't be cheap, but with Correra all but gone the Twins can afford it.
  14. i'd rather them make a reasonable offer and lose him than something utterly absurd that brings him back and restricts this team from other free agent acquisitions in the future, cause that's what it's gonna take to get him. He'll probably end up a Dodger is my guess.
  15. Willson Contreras declined the qualifying offer from the Cubs. The Twins need to go get this guy.

    Lets go big!!

I'd go after Willson Contreras big time. Twins need a catcher and he's top of the line. I'd also go after Carlos Rodon. Correa would be icing on the cake.
  17. He had one really good year (2017) and 2 average seasons (2016, & 2019). Five seasons he was terrible.
  18. It's not low brow clickbait. I don't care that he's from the DR, and i don't care that he learned a second language which is his choice. He is not an above average hitter with the amount of strikeouts he's recorded and lack of eye at the plate aside from the homeruns. He has continuously flirted with the mendoza line the last 4 seasons and he was the fastest player in MLB history to 1,000 strikeouts. The guy he passed up Mark Reynolds who did it in game 747 in his career and Sano beat him by 86 games. He's also a very poor fielder at 3rd and at 1st. Sorry but he's a total bust.
  19. It certainly seems that way. I was never impressed with his approach or lack thereof at the plate. When he was on he was great and i cheered for him, but his inability to work through the droughts, minimize the damage, and the strikeouts was just maddening to watch. Towards the end he did try to take more walks and succeeded a bit on that, but the competition had him figured out a couple of years ago. Down and away is his Achilles heel, and he just can't resist swinging away at sliders and balls bouncing 3 ft. in front of home plate. We saw it over and over again, the last two years. Very, very frustrating. I guess this is a lesson to everyone, that not everybody that can club it 400 + ft. is gonna develop into a good all around hitter. Perhaps he can find a new role as a designated hitter full-time and flourish there, but he's gotta work on his eye at the plate (assuming he's motivated to do so).
