    Why would you sign Drury to replace Urshela when you could just keep Urshela?

    They're going to have at least 2 spots open during the Rule 5 draft and I doubt they draft anyone.

    A non-tender of Urshela would be pretty dumb. He would be the top available free agent 3B ranked above an aging Justin Turner and Evan Longoria.

    It's a contract for $750k. That doesn't prevent the Twins from adding someone else later and putting Garlick on waivers.

    I'm going to guess the Twins are willing to take $100k for Helman whether or not it is in the Rule 5 draft.

    I think Urbina has the ceiling of a starter but I also think he's low risk for a team to stash all year given how few position players are on a team's bench.

    I would rather see the Twins sign a free agent lefthanded pitcher and put him on the roster instead of adding Headrick. I think that will help the team more over the next couple seasons.

    I agree with just Julien and Canterino. Is Headrick more useful to have on the roster than Danny Couloumbe?

    I think it's low class to pay a major league pitching coach less than he can make working at a college.

    Blayne Enlow is likely to end up in the bullpen. Heck, Louie Varland might contribute more as a reliever than as a starter before his big league career is over.

    For one, the old arbitration was already based on statistical data - just not as good at determining value as WAR. For another, the owners and players agreed on this new system together, nobody from Fangraphs or Baseball Reference had any say whatsoever in those negotiations.

    Disagree completely with this. WPA is a junk stat.

    The differences in WAR are philosophical. Everyone mostly agrees on offensive value. Replacement value can be calculated in different ways. Pitching value can start from runs allowed (bWAR) or from xFIP (fWAR). Defensive value has several systems to choose from. I'm actually surprised the players didn't suggest their own WAR system, considering it determines their pay.

    He's 26 and has a nagging shoulder injury. I think it's time to pivot.

    I think Winder could be quite successful in the bullpen. I think he was forced into starting because they didn't have enough starters to cover the innings they needed to cover.

    Kershaw and Verlander aren't "lights out" in the playoffs and they're two of the best pitchers of this generation.

    Fangraphs expert estimates 10 years $300M. Crowdsource is 8 years $256M 2023 Top 50 Free Agents | FanGraphs Baseball The Twins should be in on the 8 year contract but not on the 10 year contract. I don't want the 2 years $54M for years 9 and 10.

    Don't be surprised if you see free agent prices rise dramatically this offseason. There are a lot of teams with money to spend and lots of certainty due to the signed CBA. The Edwin Diaz contract (5 years, $102M for a reliever) is just the start.

    2020 was a 60 game season. Perhaps you were unaware but there was a global pandemic in 2020 that shortened the season. 43 games played is a full season, minus one stint on the 10 day IL. He also played in all 7 playoff games for the Yankees that season.
