  1. 100% I also like the idea of rooting for an underdog.
  2. Haha! Great troll job. Personally, I don't like the number font.
  3. I'd only be interested if he'd take a minor league deal.
  4. I think he's a lock. Though I don't get into the whole "first ballot" speculation since a lot of it is pure gamesmanship by the voters to keep other players from falling off the ballot.
  5. Well I'm "mad as Hell, and I'm not gonna take this anymore!!" ? ... hey, almost time for Bumper to Bumper with Barreiro. Ha! Thanks for keeping these Twins sites up and running. I totally get having second and third teams, btw. As a Twins fan I find it serves as a coping mechanism. Mine are the Dodgers and A's. Long uninteresting story there so I'll spare you the reason why. On another note: I had a person on the forum tell me how to be a fan too... After explaining to me why he was, he literally ended the post with "and you should too..." Ugh.
  6. It wasn't you actually. ? And I totally agree with you on that point. I just don't like being told to play nice by the other admins when I see admins get to play not so nice as well Though, I was probably meaner in my post than you were here. ?
  7. I've posted in the past about how I don't think Pablo Lopez is all that great, based on durability and a relatively high ERA since start #8 last year, but I do like Cabrera. Jesus Luzardo too... and I'd be willing to take a chance on Trevor Rogers too.
  8. This is the second time that I've seen this tone from an admin on this site in less than a week.
  9. I was thinking about this before the Mets physical was completed last week. I thought if the Mets come back with concerns, perhaps the two years of $70M remaining on Correa's contract that he opted out of with the Twins might end up being the best he could now hope for. I'd still welcome him here but, obviously, I have to assume the injury concern carries significant weight if two teams have now passed.
  10. Take the voting out of the media's hands entirely. Those knuckle-draggers couldn't be impartial if their life depended on it. I don't need them playing the moral police card and I'm over this garbage of voting for a player that doesn't deserve enshrinement at the expense of another just to keep him on the ballot. Or those writers that abuse the responsibility by voting for some slightly above average local player or don't vote at all out of some shameful protest. Also limiting the number people can vote for creates scenarios like the one above and is just silly. As for keeping Puckett out. That's odd. The man was an elite level superstar that packed a whallop of a resume into a 12 year career. He was forced from the game at peak powers and met the minimum criteria for eligibility. Just a silly ommission Bill James and others have written often about analyzing a player's length of peak performance rather than compilers. I have no problem with guys like Craig Biggio and guys like Puckett or Koufax making the Hall. I do have a problem with lowering the bar to pave the way for others (i.e. Harold Baines for Edgar Martinez, who didn't need to have the bar lowered or Bruce Sutter for Lee Smith, who probably did need the bar lowered).
  11. Ha! Not calling you out though... I just see it so often that I thought I might be missing something. Just my FOMO at work. I forgot to add another to my list (with Mark McGuire and Greg Maddox)... Roger "Clemons".
  12. It's criminal that the "Crime Dog" was not voted in by the BBWAA in all his years on the ballot and had to wait until the New Era committee (including many of his peers) voted him in (in his first year). He should have been in long ago. To me, it's nothing more than a museum.
  13. I have not seen him connected to the Twins anywhere, only the Yankees.
  14. Too many questions with Bauer. If you can get past all the other "stuff", his resume is still wildly inconsistent. Do you get the 4.50 ERA guy, the 6.4 ERA guy with the Reds in 2019, or the Cy Young pitcher of 2020? If there weren't clubhouse concerns, a history of poor sportsmanship, and questions about how legitimate his successful seasons were (sticky stuff), then maybe you could take a chance on him. But with all of that, and the up and down performance and the fact that he's a PR nightmare, well... the Twins aren't THAT desperate, are they? And, of course, he hasn't pitched professional ball for almost 2 seasons now.
  15. With finite resources available, and time dwindling towards spring training, I don't think that the Twins should be wasting either on something that doesn't fill a hole. However, if Devers were the prize, I would be excited to have him here. Only problem is meeting the asking price for a one-year rental. I have no interest at all in Rendon, or Escobar. Rendon has not been able to stay on the field and Escobar has been declining the past two seasons and it's hard to see him improving as he turns 34 in the next few weeks. Devers is a stud and would help the team, but the Red Sox's asking price is likely astronomical.
  16. Okay, you got me. That particular misspell is a typo from attempting to type on my phone. Paddack and "Paddock" genuinely had me curious. Misspelling names drives me bonkers. Saw enough Mark McGuire, and Greg Maddox over the years.
  17. So many people mispell it "Paddock" on these boards, that I wonder is it an intentional inside joke that I'm missing?
  18. ...was 35 years ago. Yeah, that's not happening with this club and I'm not holding out hope that it will in order to justify the argument that excuses them from not upgrading the roster.t
  19. And stop handing the ball to Pagan in key moments against the Guardians. Baldelli's stubborness there is mind boggling. The series in late June and early July were killers.
