Does anybody know why Sano has not played in the field the last 2 games - especially since he had a day off in between games? In regards to Dalton Hicks (team leading hitter), he hasn't played (DH or field) in the last 2 games either. Any update?

Article: The Next Twins-2015
lightfoot789 replied to Steve Lein's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Can we at least get to May before we sell out everybody as useless MLB players? If Ervin Santana hadn't "bleaked up" we might be singing an entire different song. Not one person on this board can blame Ryan for that poor judgement on Santana's part. We adored Ryan for his off season signing effort before this blunder and need to show a little patience as it pertains to this truly unfortunate situation. It's only a little over a week. Enjoy the Ride People - Bumps and All WOW GIVE IT UNTIL AT LEAST "MAY" -
I agree with young people being stronger than we give them credit for in terms of their preparation for failure. If you address the pitfalls to the young person, you can prepare him to handle those failures a lot better than if you hadn't. Either way, they can learn from those failures and either Get Better or Never Learn. Those are their two options everyday of their professional careers. Ask Torii Hunter. He's played for 19 years and still knows how to learn from mistakes. You can only ruin a kid if you don't prepare him mentally. The physical tools will / should take care of themselves (if they have any). IMO That being said: Every prospect in the Twins organizations AA needs more work. They are not better than the guys who are already up their right now (MLB). So why give up on a season before it has even begun. Buxton, Sano & Walker lead the League in K's. Only a small sample size, but does show they have some work to do in the coming weeks before promotions are thought about. Might not be long from now, but definite work to be done.

The good news is that Chattanooga is still amongst the middle to top of Southern League offensively despite K's. The whole league is struggling offensively with the exception of Mobile. I still feel good things coming. What's made these players great in the past from a teams perspective is that somebody is always picking up the team on any given day. You just never know who it may be during any week.

When the Lookouts stop chasing the low and outside pitch as though they can't reach it, the offense will pick up for Chattanooga. If they can't reach an outside strike without bending over to swing at it, they are obviously too far off the plate. No one is standing confident in the box and just driving the ball the other way. "Hit it where they pitch it". I'm no expert, but everyone seems to be LOADING as they swing instead of LOADED before they swing. In other words UNBALANCED (which leads to defensive swings). GET THE FOOT DOWN EARLY!!!

I am impressed with how Toronto went young with Dalton Pompey and Devon Travis and their 20 year old closer. Those guys were in A ball last year for part of the season. Impressive players. Buxton and Sano might have been ready if not for lost year.

Every righty in the Chattanooga line up chased the same pitch (Down & Away).. ALL NIGHT. 5 of the 7 hits came from Left handed hitting batters (Hicks / Michael / Polanco). Team approach needs some work before tomorrow with down and away. WOW Great reports by the way My Title for tonights game is "3's Company" Strikes per AB or Strikeouts per Game - Either way works here

Article: 2015 Chattanooga Lookouts Roster Preview
lightfoot789 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Peterson has to be the first reliever to come up. Brett Lee should have been promoted. Lee might have a brighter future if he gets traded or released. I see a Matt Tomshaw or Tyler Jones type future. Helpful to the cause of winning games, but never a true prospect in the eyes of management. Let the kid fulfill his dreams with a franchise who actually cares about those dreams.- 54 replies

Article: 2015 Chattanooga Lookouts Roster Preview
lightfoot789 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Now that everyone on this team is on the fast track to the Big Leagues - I hope that they can still play together and keep that winning vibe that made them special thru the lower minors. Most of these kids seemed to truly love playing with and for each other. Although the minors are about development, I'm hoping management recognizes chemistry and brings them along accordingly. Sometimes a youth movement isn't always a bad thing.- 54 replies

The crazy part about AB Walker and AA line up this upcoming season, is that he could actually end up batting 7th or 8th in the line up. I hope the rest of his camp is progressing like today. Meaning good ABs. BUXTON CF POLANCO SS ROSARIO LF SANO 3B KEPLER 1B HICKS DH WALKER RF TURNER C MICHAEL 2B BERRIOS P

Article: A Day At Twins Minor League Camp
lightfoot789 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Have you seen JD Williams and if so How does he look? Does he still have that blazing speed that made him who he is? Has Kanzler and Murphy surpassed him in the eyes of the organization (in your opinion) ? There is no way he expected to be in Cedar Rapids for a whole year in 2014. Hoping for a bounce back year. Charming kid- 10 replies

Article: A Day At Twins Minor League Camp
lightfoot789 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The minor league games are free, but if the MLB Red Sox have a home game (just like at the MLB Twins facility) you are likely going to have to pay for parking ($10ish). You park with everyone and walk over to minor league fields to watch game. If MLB team is away that day - Everything is free and easy. Great stuff Seth. Incredible photos. Do some groups (minor leaguer's) still practice at City of Palms (old Sox facility)? They did in previous years. I heard Twins built new fields is why I'm asking?- 10 replies

I'm anxious to see how Duffy does this year. He quietly goes about his business and gets the job done. Don't be surprised if he continues to get promoted at a quick pace. He actually has risen faster than anyone from that 2012 draft class. Just saying............Tyler Duffy- 14 replies

Article: How Many Home Runs Can The Twins Hit?
lightfoot789 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
AB Walker has 66 in 319 games in the minors. That's an average of 33 HRs per 162 game season. As we all look into the future. I know he is not projected to continue this pace due to contact rate, but thus far not bad. In his only MLB Spring Training game (2014) Walker was 2 for 2 with 1 HR and a Double. Can you picture that power in the line up with Sano - Vargas - & Arcia. I'm not so sure Walker doesn't hit them as far as any of those other 3 either. I'll stop jumping back to the future................ -
Santana - Great OBP and Speed Mauer - Takes pitches and hits behind runners Dozier - Great OBP and Power Arcia - Big Pop Hunter - RBI Guy if Arcia fails his AB Vargas - Big Pop as switch hitter Plouffe - Great 7 hole hitter (no pressure) Pinto / Suzuki - Power or Contact Hicks / Schaffer - Righty Lefty OBP Combo w/Speed Leaves you with more game leadoff possibilities from #9 or #1 hitter as game goes on. Both spots provide leadoff qualities (OBP & Speed)

Santana should be the leadoff, but I wouldn't be scared to put Hicks there over Dozier and Mauer. Much rather have Dozier's pop with runner on batting second or third OR Mauer batting second or third moving runners over and taking a bunch of pitches to allow for steal attempts.

He holds a .377 OBP throughout his minor league career. Isn't that what most of these posters put their money on? Minor league OBP numbers. Nothing to argue with when standing at .377 OBP - Speed = Runs Scored Hitting can only get better too. Nothing to lose.

Not sure what people want? Aaron Hicks held a .341 OBP for the Twins last year while displaying a horrible BA. That said: If we want a guy who gets on base as much as anyone in the lineup and has the speed to steal bases - Why not Hicks? Ask yourself how many guys had a higher OBP last year? Of those guys - Who has more leadoff qualities once they reach base? The popular answer is that his BA is not sexy enough to justify putting him in the leadoff spot. However, If he hit ..290 with a .315 OBP people would be extremely excited. I understand that some of those hits might be doubles, but that is not the role of a leadoff guy. His job is to get on base. SO WHY NOT AARON HICKS?

Article: TD Top Prospects: #2 Miguel Sano
lightfoot789 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I got your semi sarcasim (truly). And in no way do I expect either to actually have that kind of productivity with the bases loaded when they arrive. I agree that the only cure is time and patience. I was merely talking the potential with those type of players. Sano is sooooo much further along than Walker in regards to both cure and patience. I'm willing to let Sano do his thing this year and put in some of that time, as we as fans put in that patience.
