  1. I vote for option 2. Pitching wins championships. Always been a fan of Alex Wood and advocated for the Twins to sign him last year. Maybe save some money on Rosenthal and sign someone cheaper and add a little more depth to the bench, but, I wouldn't be too worried about it; the bench doesn't scare me as outlined above. Hell, if Lewis is tearing it up, call him up and your bench now has Polanco or Arraez on it. Go. Get. Pitching.
  2. I vote “No” to any of the above mentioned FA options. Bring Lewis up and play him at SS, 3B, and OF (CF if Buck gets injured.) Lewis could play 4-6 times per week in that kind of scenario. If he’s as mature as all reports say he is, he can handle the position variety just fine. If a very young Mauer can handle all the rigors of managing a MLB game and staff, Lewis can manage a few different positions. By all accounts he's got the chops to do so anyway. Save the money and spend it on brining in Bauer.
  3. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kYgZW3c6KYVDOe2v4O-GaQs8sl_mQ6H6S13dNW1_JFg/edit I'd actually start Lewis at SS, Polanco at 2B and move Arraez to Utility. Lewis provides versatility at SS, 3B, and CF allowing for a lot of rotation (and Buxton injury insurance). Same goes for Blankenhorn (minus the Buxton insurance.) Rooker/Kirilloff provide pop off the bench and great rotation at RF/LF/1B/DH as well as lefty/righty matchups along with Sano. Starting Pitching: Bring back Odo and pick up someone with something to prove. Teheran seems like a good option, but I'd also be ok with Gausman or even Jordan Blaze. Relief Pitching: it wasn't all that broke, so not much to fix. Sign May to a long term deal, I think he's going to be a solid closer for someone for 2-5 years, why not for the Twins?! As for the rest, Romo is gone (too much of a one-trick pony.) Fill the pen with some folks that Johnson can turn around on the cheap.
  4. Just moved to Seattle from Nashville, TN...looking forward to that upcoming March/April series to take my 4 month old son to!!! Do you know of any Twins Bars in the area?
  5. A majority of the lineup returns after hitting THE MOST HOME RUNS..EVER. oh...and they added one of THE best third basemen to that prolific lineup...it is in now way hyperbole. On the pitching front, they were not as bad as some folks want to believe they were. Homer Bailey may have found something, Hill is somehow making things work at an advanced age, and we have a couple of Lookers in the minors. I know you Minnesotans are perpetually pessimistic about your sports teams (and for good reason) but, it's ok to let yourself feel some optomisim for this team.
  6. Pillar was one guy that stood out for exactly the reasons listed above. Fliers on Walker and Jason Adam might be worth it.
  7. 1. Sign Wheeler. Sign Alex Wood. 2. Sign Castro. 3. With the depth in the Pen, a couple reclamation projects is fine by me. Probably going to have to rotate those guys in and out at the bottom of the Pen anyway. Maybe Johnson strikes gold a couple more times. 4. Sign Donaldson YESTERDAY!!! 5. I think the White Sox are a bit further away than the national media market believes them to be. But, I guess with all that money they might be able to be more competitive. I wouldn't be too concerned just yet.
  8. Replace Perez with Alex Wood. Replace Gibby with the best FA SP you can sign better than Gibby. Sign Pomeranz Sign a better back up C than Astudillo I'm good with the rest of it.
  9. Resign Cron Sign 2 best FA SPs you can + Alex Wood Sign Pomeranz Sign good backup C No need to trade folks off of a 101 win team. Starting pitching is what wins Championships though, so go get 2-3 better ones than last year. The prospects coming up will fill in for injuries that occur throughout the season. No need to gut your system with the quality SP FA class this year. Breathe people. Breathe.
  10. Balazovic's stuff>>>>>> Gonsalves's stuff. Gonsalves never touched 95mph. K% not comparable either.
  11. Do not, under any circumstances, trade Balazovic. 2nd coming of Cole...Hawt Taek
  12. Garvsauce>>>>>>>>>>Kraken...too many Ks if you ask me. Yuck the Fankees! Go Twins! #bombaszn
  13. Glad to see Trevor May dominating tonight. With Rogers not effective going back to back, I think it will prove CRITICAL to have another shut-down guy to come in and lock an opponent down in the late innings. As I watched Graterol pitch, I made the comment (to myself) that he seemed hittable. Inspite of 3 hits that beat the shifts, I was expecting Trevor May-like results from a dude that throws 100+. However, he's young and I would love to see what would happen to him if he could work with Wes Johnson for a couple years. Graterol has pitched well since his call up; one or two more appearances should tell us if he can truly help in the Post Season this year.
  14. 1. Innings shouldn't really be an issue. 2. What may be an issue is his throwing motion (to mine untrained eye). I'm no expert, but, it seems like he throws with a lot of exertion on his arm, and not using his legs as much. Again, I'm completely ignorant and am open to scrutiny regarding this position. But, can someone break his throwing motion down for me and make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside about it?!
  15. Really looking forward to seeing what Balazovic, Ober, and Dobnak do next year! A healthy Ober pitching 120+ innings next season would have him on track for the Twins rotation in late 2021. Is it possible we could see Balazovic next season with the Twins? Is he one of the Top 8-10 Starting Pitchers going into next season? Could be fun seeing these young guys form a healthy SP core to pair with the existing core on the other side of the ball. My projected Top 10 SP (sans FA signings): 1. Berrios 2. Perez 3. Graterol 4. Smeltzer 5. Dobnak 6. Thorpe 7. Balazovic 8. Ober 9. Stewart 10. Jax An argument could be made (and I wouldn't fight you) if you bumped Perez down to 5 or 6...I put him there because of innings pitched at the MLB level compared to everyone else below him...and also because he did start the year off pretty strongly.
  16. I think I do the Blue Jays trade all day long...I like Thorpe, Rooker and Kirilloff too much.
