  1. MLB thinks to think he won't be difficult to sign - at the worst he could end up a draft and follow, if that still exists. Eastman looks a lot tougher to sign. If they lock up one or both of these guys, that ups the draft half a grade....
  2. Like the sound of that young Puerto Rican battery rising through the system together.
  3. Overall an interesting draft so far. They seem to have gotten some good value on several of the picks. I agree w/Dman, it's a nice mix. Hopefully they get them all signed up.
  4. They all show up on MLBs top 200 as well. No head scratchers up to this point
  5. 2 more hard throwers to add to the growing collection: difficult to recall a time when the Twins had so many promising pitchers in the system.
  6. He recently turned 21 - we'll see. It might take a 2-3 years to get his innings up to starter level, and if it works, with Gonsalves, lefty hell for our opponents. if not, Perkins replacement, or at least very valuable commodity for trade. I would have preferred a hitter, but I can see all the logic of this pick. Elite lefties don't grow on trees. Who was left on the board that you all wanted?
  7. I couldn't care less that Jay WAS a reliever. We got a fresh LH arm with power stuff, multiple plus pitches, and command. What's not to like?
  8. Actually, none of the top three pitchers taken, up to pick 16, are bigger than Tate at 6'2". Our guy is 6'1. A trend?
  9. That's the truth Markos - I liked the Red Sox pick, but in my shortsighted manner, the Twins apparently got the best LHP in the draft. Filled a need, perhaps bpa, no complaints.
  10. And no command issues. Not who I was looking for, but I like the pick a lot. Here's hoping he isn't Ryan Mills 2.0. Looks like he has all you could want apart from "downward plane." Nice add to the system.
  11. Anyone else like Benintendi? I could just see him as Dozier 2.0, maybe even better. Pitching probably makes more sense, but I like what I've seen from this guy. I also like Tucker more than Cameron because of thehit tool. Sounds like he has all-around ability as well.
  12. I was hanging around the stadium on opening night - very fun atmosphere that extended all the way to Mears Park. Very nice add for downton St. Paul.
  13. Very glad to see Kepler hitting like that. Not many Europeans out there on the ball field.
  14. I'd prefer a healthy player at #6. If the Twins were drafting in the 20s, it might make sense, much as when they got Gibson.
  15. I was surprised that Dozier wasn't even top 5 for AL 2nd basemen. Then looking more closely at the seasons the others were having, only Infante seemed out of place on that list, but seeing as the Royals are dominating the ballot box as well as the diamond, it makes sense I guess. Still, Dozier would be my position player front runner. Plouffe is good, but there are lots of good 3rd basemen out there. Perk looks a shoo-in if he maintains his current form. It would take some superlative performances over the next month for any of the starters to be considered.
  16. That's what we said about Hunter, and Cuddyer, and Morneau, and ....
  17. I am very excited to see this young man continuing the tradition of Puckett and Hunter. Elite CFs are about my favorite kind of player.
  18. Just goes to show that Walter out dudes the Dude. BTW, if you love the movie and have never seen the abridged version, it does a pretty good job of telling the story in just one word: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXT0gOk1Ogw&spfreload=10
  19. I'll tell ya, this has been the ultimate cold shower on my "enthusiasm" about the Twins this year, to the point I've been avoiding Twins Daily, and all things Twins related. Erv was the linchpin in my belief we would be better this season. Pretty dumbfounding situation from 10,000 feet.
