  1. This sums up my thinking as well. Who needs a stinking trade deadline when you can get real live prospecrts like this for guys that are on their final legs here.
  2. I know there have been some eyebrows raised at the Twins habit of drafting college relievers of late. My eyebrows are raised in that none of them are actually on the team yet. Good powerful bullpen lies in our future.
  3. The Twins really, REALLY need to give Mays and Meyer their taste of MLB this season. The learning opportunity is just too huge to be wasted.
  4. Mike, is it possible that everything is baseball isn't quantifiable? What about a pitcher's confidence in a particular pitch? What is our stat for that? Or a catcher's ability to settle down a pitcher that is rattled? I appreciate your point of view, but I believe it ignores a lot of the elements that are present in human endeavors.
  5. I am surprised at the condescension in this thread; Terry Ryan probably isn't an idiot about baseball, and the offers he got probably weren't good. I'm just guessing though. Having some depth at catcher is a good thing, especially at an affordable price, and now the Twins have that with Pinto and Suzuki, while other guys develop in the minors. Constant rebuild is fun, but why not keep good players once in a while too?
  6. Looking back at Correia's career, he was a MF NL All-Star in 2011. All Star! He is the Twin's Heatley, a true All -Star!
  7. I could see Suzuki 60/40 with Pinto next year, 40/60 the next, if he declines and Pinto improves. Or 70/30. It seems like this contract gives the Twins a nice out if he declines.
  8. If framing is so important, is is possible catchers could improve at it? Maybe watch tapes of the Molina brothers?
  9. Exactly - it is quite possible that NOBODY wanted them. Maybe, possibly, perhaps other teams GMs are as smart as the fans at Twins Daily who were desperate to rid themselves of this deadwood.
  10. I guess I'll withhold my final approval once the details of year 3 are made available. Still, I think it is better to keep him in a reasonable deal than to trade him for rubbish, or let him walk for nothing. Everybody is so sure he is gonna crash, but maybe he won't. Stat nerds can fret about his framing, but I put more weight in the opinion of the pitchers who love to throw to him and wanted to keep him,
  11. Maybe I missed why exactly KS is out, but shouldn't we be as worried as we've been for Buxton and Sano? Take that 'stache down south young man!
  12. I remember buying Redman in my teens because that's what the pros chewed. Accidentally swallowing a whole mouthful of juice and then retching for the next hour cured me of that nasty habit before I got hooked. But my case was probably typical in following what I saw the pros doing.
  13. He became our favorite watching the Kernels a couple times last month. Yeah, dat stache.
  14. You are missing Gibson there. And perhaps Meyer.
