  1. I love how they harp on all the mistakes and poor performances from the Tigers yet they never seem to mention anything negative about the Twins... It looks like Ervin's not doing so well today. He might only make it through 5 today.
  2. Jaime Garcia is an intriguing add, though his upside is pretty limited. He should fit in as the #4 starter ahead of Gibson and Colon. We have had plenty of pitchers go NL to AL and bust, so that is a concern. This doesn't seem to fit the FO's mantra of "controllable talent over rental players", but obviously every move they make isn't going to reflect this. Hopefully they won't give up too much. Giving up Kiriloff or Garver would be too much, but other considerations like Haley and Melotakis would not happen. I think Blankenhorn would be a fine price to pay, just looking at the stats.
  3. Just saw this earlier today. The Dodgers are 30-4 in their last 34 games, so I'm not liking Colon's chances. At least he'll get to hit one last time...
  4. I don't know how you would compare Rivera to those two, but Santana was clearly better than Colon. Pitcher wins were clearly the most important stat back then (gags offscreen).
  5. Rogers is getting pretty good at cleaning up Duffey's messes.
  6. I just came back on to type the exact same thing. Guess I got ninja'd. I wonder how many more blown 7th inning leads it'll take to get Duffey demoted to low leverage innings...
  7. The Twins seem to be able to turn around mediocre shortstops and make them viable. Nunez went from a complete bust at SS to a viable utility guy who started to hit around .300. Escobar was thought to be a AAAA player at best and has shown some pop and can start without being a liability. Adrianza, if he keeps it up, is a guy who couldn't hit to save his life but now he suddenly is.
  8. Molitor made the right call there. I guess that's why I'm not making the calls.
  9. Wait, we're going to trust Duffey in this situation? Wait WHAT?! Mejia was giving up some hard contact, but I would have given him some more rope...
  10. Yeah, I don't get why someone like Rosario or Kepler isn't hitting in that spot. Granite isn't exactly lighting things up right now. Reminds me of Buxton in the #3 spot early this year.
  11. He isn't up yet, they haven't made a corresponding roster move at this point. All we know is that it's been confirmed Colon will come up before Tuesday's game starts.
  12. I think you're talking about the Braves, the team he played with for the first half of 2017. He was an All-Star for the Mets last year.
  13. Ugh, not a fan of Colon going up against the Yankees lineup after he had a poor start in AAA. That's going to be an ugly outing. I'm guessing Gee gets DFA'd unless they put Haley on the 60 day DL, but I don't think that'll happen.
  14. Wow, two errors by Houston's defense. This is our chance...
  15. This game is going to end at midnight at the rate these ABs are going...
  16. Berrios may have had a bad outing but at least he only gave up one extra base hit. Hughes has already given up 3 XBHs to the first 4 batters he's faced. And unlike the rest of you guys, I'll won't be checking out. I'll be here until the end - not because I think the Twins can still win, just for curiousity. I want to see if Houston can score 20+ runs and break some records.
  17. If you're looking for a silver lining, at least Granite doesn't seem capable of overthrowing the cutoff man with that arm of his, unlike Rosario. We really need to see more Adrianza and Escobar at short. Polanco needs some time on the bench to clear his head.
  18. Seriously? One bad outing against the best batting team in baseball and now you're giving up on him long-term?
  19. I did not expect Granite to hit second, so let's hope he proves himself there.
  20. I'm glad the Twins didn't sign them when they had the chance over the offseason. It has turned out that putting Grossman, Vargas, Escobar, and whoever is hot at DH has worked pretty well (.252/.346/.403 so far) and saved the Twins some cash. Still, if we could get Bautista on the cheap, I'd give him a share of the DH role. He has always hit HRs easily at Target Field.
  21. This is exactly what I was going to post. I like me some Polanco, but if you trade Gordon, we're stuck with a rotating door with Polanco doesn't figure things out. I don't think Vielma is a starter at short, I don't think Lewis will end up at SS, and the best guys are years away. I would still make Gordon available and consider sending him in a trade for starters with multiple years of control, but I would hold onto him very tightly.
  22. I don't think Adrianza's going anywhere. He is the front office's guy and they've moved DanSan and Vargas off the roster for him. And with his solid bat so far, he can rotate with Polanco and Escobar with Jorge's play dropping off.
  23. Wow, that was quite the play by Polanco. That was Andrelton Simmons-esque. I'm very disappointed to see Busenitz go back to AAA. It should have been Pressly - he needs more time at AAA and Busenitz needs more MLB experience, but hopefully the two will switch spots before too long.
  24. I dunno, I always had a hard time watching Joe Nathan save games. He was always pretty good but there was just something about how he pitched...
  25. I'm not sure why the Twins are trusting Duffey in a high leverage situation like this, he's been really bad the last few weeks. They have other options...
