  1. Yea so when not signing someone is the best thing you can say about the off season something is wrong.
  2. If this is the team the Twins have going into the regular season Falvine and Levine should be fired.
  3. I believe he was the Twins only chance to put together a contending rotation. The Twins did ask for medicals so that’s further than they usually get.
  4. Very interested in finally getting to see what our FO has in mind. I’ve been withholding judgment until the lockout is over. Eagerly awaiting the rabbit to be pulled out of the hat.
  5. Really cool. I will use this a ton. One of the many reasons I visit the site is that it is the best resource for minors info. This just made it better….
  6. You can’t take him that high without proof he is physically sound. And as Doc says if he provides medical showing no issues he won’t be there at 9.
  7. First off the real problem is that it is really hard to be an above average MLB SS. the attrition rate for prospects at this position is always going to be way higher than elsewhere. Having said that Lewis was the first pick overall in the draft. If he can’t play above average SS in the bigs then this pick was a bust. If he can’t play short his best value might be in CF as trade bait.
  8. The problem with the premise of this article is that you are banking on a series of best possible outcomes. It’s just not likely to happen. At this point I hope the Twins don’t double down and trade a bunch of prospects for pitching they could have with money. I would be willing to trade Arreaz and Garver.
  9. Seems to be a very intelligent person. Man would it be huge if he could thrive at SS in the bigs. I like the speed aspect as well. The Twins have drifted towards are plodding lineup if Royce can make it he and Buck will make some plays. Still think he has to ditch the leg kick….
  10. A big reason the twins signed Donaldson was for his defense. To the extent they have to do DH him that certainly subtracts from his overall value.
  11. I don’t care about the owners or the players. I care about the fact that baseball is swirling in the toilet as a game. Nothing these clowns are arguing about addresses these problems. Baseball’s anti trust exemption needs to be revoked immediately. Let other leagues start up - then we will find out what the players and these franchises are really worth.
  12. I love the guy. Humble and hardworking with a great attitude. We are lucky he was willing to sign that contract.
  13. I like his fielding a lot and have always had faith in his nice swing. But the new age 3 outcome approach has not benefited him. He seems to think the best approach is to hit the ball over the shift which I believe is the prevailing mantra but he can’t do it. That should be clear to him. If he doesn’t try something different he will be scrounging around for a make good contract in two years. You can forget about trading him. If he starts hitting you keep him because then he is a really good player. If he isn’t hitting you will get nothing in return and the chance that he figures it out will be more valuable than the lottery tickets you will get in trade.
  14. I like this idea but it doesn’t have much to do with Sano. Kiriloff has a chance to be a really good hitter and elite fielder at first (he’s pretty meh in the outfield). You don’t delay that process for what Sano brings to the table. Sano can also fill in at 1st and 3rd on those days when something goes haywire.
  15. I misspoke. What I meant was you don’t have to draft this type of player in the first round as they are readily available always.
  16. The worst part about this pick is that bat first players with no position that hit 25 homers and strike out a bunch are not hard to find. You don’t need to draft them in the first round. The Cavaco pick doesn’t look too good either but he at least played a premium position and had projectable tools.
  17. It’s a league of adjustments. He will have to adapt and improve to what the pitchers are doing to him. He will likely do this but if he doesn’t he won’t be the first good prospect to die from big league off speed pitches. I see nothing that would suggest he is a plus defender but could be average. He has an ugly hitch in his throwing motion that contributes to an average throwing arm.
  18. I advocated for Polanco to be moved to SS three years ago so that’s how I feel about that. However if they aren’t going to add any proven pitching what difference does it make? Polo can play SS until they figure it out.
  19. Interesting observation about how a payroll floor would damage their go to free agent plan. I get why they don’t want to live in free agency. However they can’t be so rigid as some years it may be your only option. From a pitching standpoint this was one of those years. They are going to throw away this season by being so rigid.
  20. Anybody else wonder about any correlation between the magic uptick in velocity and all the arm problems young pitchers everywhere are experiencing?
  21. Goodness no. I enjoy watching him hit but there isn’t a spot for him if you are going to be serious about good fielding. Trade him for pitching.
