Are the true colors showing through in the bullpen? Like so many others on this site I'll say it again, this team needs more help with their pitching. If Archer can't get stretched out to go more than 4 then he could/should be pen material. That would maybe help a little. Need more help down there sooner rather than later.

I can't speak for anyone else but I made the decision to quit going to the games based on a few things. 1- Money. Being on Social Security my income just isn't keeping up with inflation and between cost for gas and parking and tickets not to mention concessions it is a big expense. I have made it a point in past years to get to 1 game a month but.... 2-The last 4 games I've gone too have had the "B' lineups playing and I just wont pay the above money to watch. 3-As an older person its getting more difficult to navigate downtown. Have to drive almost an hour to get there, then find a lot to park, then walk a few blocks to the stadium. Tough for a partially handicapped old guy to do. 4-Still upset over the way the whole labor situation was handled by BOTH sides. But thats a story thats been argued over in other places at other times.

Are the Twins an Experiment in Action?
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So far the Twins have beaten the teams they should beat which is the sign of a contender, The true test will be as they get into the tougher part of their schedule. If they can continue to win or at least play slightly above .500 against the tough teams then we can say they are for real. I have concerns about the pitching. After Ryan, Gray, and Ober things look shaky. I have very little confidence in Bundy and it seems Rocco and Wes are leery about stretching out Archer. The pen looks iffy after Smith, Duran, Pagan, & Thielbar. Iffy on Jax & Duffy & Stashak. IMO a trade or a promotion for a starter is necessary. I would like to see Winder replace Bundy and a new starter replace Archer (if they're not going to stretch him out) and move Archer into long relief. I don't really know what to do with Bundy.- 38 replies

In a pregame interview Archer sure sounded like he wanted to pitch longer. Pulled last night under 80 pitches. Perhaps Rocco or Wes noticed something that I didn't see (after all that's why they get paid) but it sure seemed like he could have gone another inning.

A few of my own takes; 1-Our hitters have figured out they don't always have to swing for the fences. 2-Our hitters have learned they don't have to pull the ball to get on base. 3-Arraez has found a home on defense 4-We need at least 1 more quality starter, either from a trade or promotion 5-Rocco still can't manage a bullpen 6-Duran is for real 7-We have some pretty darn good players knocking on the door in the minors 8-What a difference a year makes!
-
I agree. Arraez has found a home. Keep hearing about how short he is at 1st base but he gets what he can reach. Never had a doubt about his ability to get on base. With the "new" ball it is almost a perfect fit for his hitting style!

Just another case of Rocco mismanaging the pen. Leaving Cano in there that long hanging out there to dry when he obviously didn't have it was just wrong.

WE need at least 1 more starter. Bundy is already showing signs that he will crash and burn, Archer should probably be in the pen as maybe our long reliever.

Minor League Report (5/21): Cave, Saints Slam Storm Chasers
Karbo replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I wonder how long until they move N.Miller up to Cedar Rapids. He seems to be the real deal, at least hitting.- 10 replies

I see Rocco is sitting both Buck and Correa. Really? I guess he figures he can just toss anyone out there and win against KC. I sure hope it doesn't turn into one of those "regret" games.

Both Sides of the Royce Lewis AAA Situation
Karbo commented on Melissa Berman's blog entry in The Hot Corner
IMO he should have stayed. He has experience in the outfield and should be an easy transition to 3B. When a guy can hit like him you make room somewhere. -

Can Buxton be Worth $100M Playing 100 Games?
Karbo replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
1 game a week would be an improvement. As the current plan is playing out he sits twice a week an DHs one other time! I believe a realistic goal would be 125 to 140 games a year. Dh once or twice a week if necessary. -
I think Rocco is probably a very likeable guy and from everything I've read or heard he keeps a great clubhouse atmosphere. As far as his game managing goes, there has been some improvement starting toward mid Aug. of last season IMO. With that being said, I feel there is plenty of room for more improvement, especially in the way he handles the pitching staff. I also would add that he could improve his communication with the fans. I know many people who feel he comes across as kind of aloof or snobish or "I'm the smartest guy in the room".

Can a Short King Triumph? Luis Arraez Goes to First Base
Karbo replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like Arraez at 1B so far. He's made most the plays he should make and is learning the position. I can see a possible situation where he plays 1B against rightys and maybe move Urshala to 1B against leftys and let Lewis play 3B? Then maybe give Lewis some LF against rightys a few times a week to keep him in the lineup? Just an idea.- 23 replies

At this point I would give Lewis time at 3B, LF. Platoon some with Urshala maybe trying some 1B rotation with Arraez. Miranda will probably be sent down to get his groove back anyway.
-
Have to agree that Rocco may have cost the Twins another W with his pen management. I don't understand how the FO can continue going along with the mistakes he makes. I also agree about his lineups. I've said before that I have quit going to games because I won't spend that much money when the last 4 times I've gone the best players are sitting or in the case of Buxton one time DHing.

I can see him getting time at 3B, OF similar to Arraez with a better glove and more power.

Emilio Pagán has One Enormous Problem
Karbo replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
At this point I don't see Pagan as the best option for closer. IMO that would be Duran. Of course it would be nice if we had a manager that knew how to handle a bullpen. Just no excuse how it was handled last night. He hung Jax out to dry for no reason. -
Urshala can play a pretty good 3B on the D side though I would be all in on moving Lewis over there when Correa comes back at least on a trial basis. If Miranda starts hitting then we have a pretty good rotational possibility. I am so tired of seeing Sanchez as our DH. He is alot like Sano with less power and more contact. Unfortunately that contact at this point has meant a bunch of pop ups and fly outs. Use him as a backup catcher until there is another catcher available through promotion or trade.

How Long of a Leash Should Dylan Bundy Get?
Karbo replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I thought the Twins were crazy when they signed him. Emergency starter/long reliever is the only role I see for him. It is being proven out that we have several other better options to start. Ryan, Gray, Winder, Ober, & Paddock should be the 5. If they want to stick with 6 then include Archer before Bundy IMHO.- 46 replies
