    Not certain what the exact rule is, however, I believe the 60-day IL doesn't exist during the off-season. Thus, they would have to carry him until opening day, or a few days before or after.

    Yes, all 6 of the runs scored on Balazovic were unearned, but I expect a potential ACE should be able to dominate the other team and work out of jams without that many runners scoring. What was it, a couple clunkers followed by one fantastic start and now another real head scratcher. Will second bean's comment above, have to believe there is some minor injury or dead arm or something. Hopefully, Miranda will get called up sometime in September, but not so soon that he loses rookie status for 2022. I want him to be next year's Rookie of the Year. And add me to those who were thrilled with Canterino's start. Eight of nine outs by strikeout? Now let's pray that he remains healthy for the rest of the season.

    Excellent way of presenting this, Lucas, and excellent discussion. The only thing that I think you missed is at the end when you discuss the 19 players players who will/could be departing, you failed to take into consideration that the current 40-man has 46 players on it with 6 on the 60-day IL. So the number of potential spots will be 19-6, or 13. With 5 locks, they are then down to 8 potential spots for both young players to be added and open spots for free agent signings. So it is probably a lot tighter than you presented. And that assumes all the 16 players at the end are released, which certainly won't happen. But I loved the article and expect them to have many lengthy conversations as they approach December. Personally, I think the most likely of the 50/50 is the first you listed, Enlow. The next most likely might be Severino, especially if he continues hitting at Cedar Rapids like he has since his promotion. The other reason may be that they have $2.5M invested in this young man, so I have a feeling he will be added. The key will be how many of those guys in the last group are retained. I expect it will be more than we think. Hopefully, they can trade a few of them, but that doesn't happen that often.

    Great start from Sands. Another guy that I keep thinking is a lot like Ober was two years ago. Great results, but doesn't have the hype of the guys at the top of the prospect lists. Need Balazovic to repeat his last outing. As for Canterino, don't know what to expect but happy to see him pitching in a game. Hopefully, he will have 3 or 3+ effective innings.

    With Arraez needing to play nearly every day, I move Polanco back to shortstop next year. Keep Gordon around as a middle infield/utility guy who plays short when Polanco needs a rest. Miranda should/must be on the team and would play some third or regular at third when Donaldson is hurt, or if Donaldson is gone. The rest of the time he would be at DH or first when Kirilloff needs a day off. That fills the position until mid/late season when Lewis, or Martin, arrives...assuming either sticks at short.

    Was thinking about Thorpe along the same lines as you, Tom. With Pineda injured last night and Thorpe pitching a gem in St. Paul, will be shocked if he doesn't start next time Pineda is scheduled. It is really important for this young man to have six weeks to show whether he can or cannot be a big league starting pitcher. After all the wasted opportunities over the last couple years, lets see what he has. If he doesn't impress the rest of this season on the mound at Target Field, I suspect his spot on the 40-man will be gone. Was surprised to see that Miranda didn't have another two hit night, getting three. Will join the chorus here and elsewhere singing the Miranda anthem...why aren't you at Target Field? Severino sure likes playing ball in Iowa. Lets hope that he keeps it up for the rest of the season as the Kernels fight for a playoff spot. Would be nice if the Twins could benefit from Atlanta's cheating by getting another second baseman with a great bat. Does anyone know if he is better defensively than Arraez?

    You can watch nearly every MiLB game on MiLB baseball. An annual subscription is $39 and I believe every one of the Twins four clubs has all their games televised. Need a smart tv to get the internet connection...I think. Also could be watched on your computer.

    When I look at this group, not certain that Cavaco belongs with the other four. There is a good chance that you have Ryan too low at #7. And I know that Miranda is too low at #6. Personally, I would have to think a long time about whether he should be #1 in the organization. Yes, he doesn't have the speed of Lewis and the hype of Martin, but who in the Twins organization is hitting better? Who is hitting close to what he is? I don't follow other organizations, but I doubt there are many others hitting as well as him anywhere in MiLB, especially at AA and AAA.

    Thanks to Ashbury for the clarification of the non-Martin home run. Had noticed in the box score he was 0-4 and wondering about that when reading David's piece above. Seeing Severino at a .404 average, checked to see how few at bats he has at Hi-A. Saw it is 52, so still a small sample, but growing. Javier was 0-3, but walked and scored twice. Expect it is time to start following this German guy from the FCL Twins. See he was signed as a free agent in January, 2018 when he was seventeen. Yet, he was born in Massachusetts, so was wondering why he wasn't in the draft? Is he the most interesting young starter for the FCL Twins? At least until some of this year's draft picks begin thowing.

    Will second most of Dman's comments, especially those about Strotman. After another so-so start last night, not a good day to announce him at #14. Personally, I would have him lower along with Wallner. But again, Wallner was on fire for awhile until having several 0-for-whatever the last few games. On the other hand, I continue to believe that Winder may, I repeat may, be the best pitching prospect in the organization. It's a shame he isn't pitching, but that was to be expected after not throwing an inning last year. Speaking of last year, if memory serves he was not at the Alternate Site as you indicated...although I could be mistaken about that. Won't lobby for Miller to be any higher than #15. Well I think he should be ahead of Strotman, so maybe #14. There is nothing I don't like about this kid and the Twins picking him where they did. Considering he was a first round pick out of high school and his brother was a lower pick out of a small college, one would assume he is a much better prospect. Yet, his brother progressed rather quickly to his big league debut with the Indians this year. The genes appear to be there and I expect the Twins got the good one.

    Is the biggest news in the system that the FCL Twins did not lose? With another home run yesterday, is Sabato starting to get it? Sure has been disappointing start to his career, but there is still time to take a big step forward this year. Checking the Kernels' box score revealed that Severino continues tearing the cover off the ball. And always good to see Javier with another triple, his tenth of the year. Don't know if that leads MiLB baseball, but when he recently hit his ninth he was tied for the lead. Does anyone else just shake their head when checking the Saints box score to see what Miranda did last night? I sure do. Strotman hasn't been at his best since joining the Twins. But didn't we all think that Ryan was the blue chip coming back in the Cruz trade. Heck, Ryan even up for Cruz would have been a good deal in my mind.

    Thanks for this report, Cody. Must say I like this group much more so than yesterday's. What may be most interesting reading this is that both Enlow and Sands need to be added to the 40-man this year, or exposed to the Rule 5 draft. The Twins are really going to be stretched finding spots for all the guys needing protection. Do they risk someone like Enlow who is out with TJ surgery? Could be an easy pick for some team as he could be put on the 60-day IL at the end of spring training. Hopefully, they open lots of spots and enter spring training with a short 40-man roster cause seven or eight of the guys are further away than normal. Really like Urbina and believe he deserves a mulligan beginning in the Florida State League following a year in the DSL as a 17-year old two years ago and then the year off. Expect he could be one of the most improved in the system next year at Cedar Rapids. Really liked Rooker's bat in his brief stay with the Twins last August and again when called up several weeks ago. But he has cooled of late. Can't tell if it is tough luck or he is overmatched as I can't see any of their games.

    Thanks for the report, Steve. Will be exciting to begin seeing how Ryan and SWR do every fifth day. Has anyone noticed that not only is Rortvedt hitting for a nice average at St. Paul, but also some real power. I continue to believe that he will become a solid hitter for the Twins. With his defense should be a perfect platoon partner with either Garver or Jeffers...my belief is it will be Garver. And I will second or third or whatever those comments above exhibiting relief for a great outing by Balazovic. The only thing I can understand is that he went through a 'tired arm' period the last few times out. As Cedar Rapids seems to be struggling of late and likely to miss the playoffs, Wichita should be full speed ahead with Martin and a healthy Balazovic and SWR on the hill. Also took note, Steve, that Whitefield grabbed his 22nd stolen base. Checked and a bit concerned that he was thrown out 10 times, but with his speed and defense the kid has a future. After many of us questioned his ranking in the revised Top 30 yesterday, looks like Sabato read our comments and took note, eh?

    Great seeing last night's start by Jax. Read that he gave up back-to-back home runs in the third, then recovered to pitch six solid innings. Since he was drafted, I have maintained that he would surprise many. My niece has two kids at West Point and what I hear they are put through is so different than one would experience in any regular University. I expect the AFA is the same, putting Jax in a different position when facing a difficult situation. Will join those above who remain hopeful that two of Jax, Ober and Dobnak can be solid parts of the Twins 2022 rotation.

    Wasn't talking about the bat so much, Lucas, more about any prospect who is good enough at shortstop to be effective/good for the Twins. Yes, I mentioned his bat as it seems to be coming around seeing him have several nice hitting streaks this year when he hit very well for a week or longer.

    Will second Brock's comments about Baddoo. Yes, it was a risk to leave him unprotected as it would have been for anyone he replaced if added to the 40-man. I just went back to see who they added last November, prior to the Rule 5 draft. It was Ben Rortvedt, Baily Ober and Jordan Balazovic. Considering Baddoo hadn't played in what, most of two years and was coming off an injury I doubt anyone would have preferred that he should replace any of the three added. Maybe there was someone else on the roster that he could replace, but I expect they doubted he would be selected. There were several former coaches/manager who had been working in the Detroit system, so I suspect there was some familiarity with Baddoo. Perhaps there was someone there who really liked him and encouraged the pick. Second, I checked yesterday when looking at box scores and saw he is hitting .260 something. Very good, but I suspect his average and OPS versus the Twins is much higher than the rest of the league. So the kid is hitting it out of the park against the team who let him go. Makes the loss of him seem so much worse when he beats us over the head with it every time we play them.

    Everything I have read, Lucas, says that Wander Javier is a good defensive shortstop and will stick there. That's why it is so exciting that his bat has come alive this year, somewhat. Hopefully, it will keep getting better and he will fill that spot for years to come. The other highly drafted shortstop is Cavaco. Is his defense good enough to stick at short?

    Well written, Nick. Will agree with you and those who are willing to give them more time to complete their plan. But when looking at last night's box score and the standings, that gets a little hard some mornings. I expect that they understand this year is over. Good to see them making lots of waiver claims for guys like Garcia and Garza, then giving them a try-out pitching for the Twins. It's been only one game, but Garcia looks like he could be part of next year's bullpen...as Grant does. There is no question that injuries have been HUGE for them this year. But when I look at their every day lineup, with maybe a little tinkering it could be good enough to compete for a title, assuming reasonable health. And for me that starts by getting a deal done with Buxton as their record shows when he is on the field. Is going to be fun to see what they do about pitching this winter, and then the results come April/May. Personally, I hope they go for quality over quantity and get one top starter and two top relievers with the young arms filling the gaps.

    Personally, I like the group you had the other day at 26-30 better than this group. If Sabato hadn't been a first round pick, would any of you even consider him for your top 30? I doubt it. Reminds me of a guy I expect Seth will remember. A high school first baseman taken in the first round, maybe a comp pick, a long time ago that scouts said had the best power bat in the draft. Don't recall if it was best high school power bat or overall. Kid may have made it to low-A ball. Think his name was something Sanchez, but could be wrong. Anyway, this pick reminds me of that one, one in which some scout(s) fell in love with some long home runs and talked the decision makers into taking him in the first round.

    Am I correct that Javier will be a 6-year minor league free agent at year's end? If so, he would only be rule 5 eligible should the Twins resign him before the draft. He has begun turning that proverbial corner this year. I am hopeful he will fully turn it next year, and do so while still in the Twins organization. The Twins have so many great candidates for short, yet most have questions whether they can stick there in the big leagues. Based on what I have heard, Javier is one who should remain at short for the Twins. Like all of you, I want to see Moran pitching for the Twins before year end. I am hopeful that he can be a solid member of their revamped pen in 2022. Of this group, I am most excited about Soularie, who I understand has special speed...is that correct?

    Thanks for another great read, Nick. As they trot different pitchers out the next six weeks, really looking forward to seeing Dobnak and Thorpe. Want a healthy Dobber confirm that he can be included in next year's plans in the starting five. Want to see Thorpe get one last chance to prove that he can be a solid big league starter. If he doesn't, his 40-man spot is in jeopardy and expect he will be gone. Also looking forward to see Ryan, but for different reasons. None of us knows who the starting shortstop will be come next July. Will Martin or Lewis move quickly enough to claim it? And I was thinking what you wrote prior to reading it, I want to see Arraez and Martin back to back at the top of future Twins lineups for the rest of the decade. Will destroy opposing pitchers confidence.

    Have a question, Seth. Has anyone heard whether or not we are going to see any of this year's draft class playing for either the FCL Twins or even the Mighty Mussels? The kid I really want to see in game action is Miller. With Simmons gone at year end and two highly ranked shortstops who both have questions about whether or not they will stick at short, would love to see what Miller can do as they search for a long term solution.

    Fantastic seeing Canterino back on the hill. And better results. Great seeing Severino continuing to rake, as was seeing Javier get a big one. and who is this Martin guy at Wichita? Don’t recall seeing him in their lineup earlier this summer? ?

This kid has so much potential/talent, really hope the Twins can hang on to him for another year to see him put it all together. was yesterday the first games for Soularie coming off the IL? If Palacios moves up, I don’t want to see him next to Miranda because I want to see Miranda at Target Field.
