  1. Twins taking advantage of slow market with team friendly deal
  2. I'd make a trade for Archer or Odorizzi with the Rays and try to sign Lynn. Going to six years on Darvish wasn't going to be an option I was willing to do.
  3. The market has changed, you can make more money annually on your agreement but the clubs are not going to give you the numbers of years as they have in the past, especially on starting pitchers ( See Barry Zito). Look at some of the reliever deals. Davis gets the richest annual deal for a reliever at $17.3 million per, but it's only three years. Addison Reed got 8.5 per and Anthony Swarzak got $7 million per to be setup guy. But each deal is only two years. I think GregHolland is going to have to take a deal like that. JDMartinez is essentially a DH, but could still get $20-25 million annually. Lorenzo Cain got $16 million annually from Milwaukee for 5 years. The anamoly is that two teams are actually offering 7 years to Hosmer, which I have no idea why he hasn't jumped on it. Yu Darvish is rumored to be seeking 7 years, I'd be shocked if he got more than 5 years. I envision a deal at 4 years approaching $30 million per or 5 years at $25-27.5 million annually. Even the Cubs are rumored to only offer 4 years. The Twins are willing to go 5, but I'd balk at going more years. The Brewers may go 6. Sounds like Yu wants the Dodgers, but the luxury tax is probably causing problems there. I think the slow offseason is a combination of agents not seeing that the 7 year and longer deals won't be here any longer and the luxury tax ramifications ratcheting back spending on the big market teams who are positioning themselves for next year's FA class
  4. If allegations are true, which from anecdotal evidence seems likel, he should be punished.
  5. I for one believe that Carl was the problem in spending money, and the contraction vote. I am wholeheartedly confident that the sons will certainly spend money to bring a title to this area. Why? Number one, they cleaned house of the "Twins guys" The end of the Terry Ryan era by termination showed to me that he was committed to winning. Secondly, he has let the young guns do what they need to do. I for one am excited for the future and very tired of the Pohlad bashing.
  6. Twins have no pressure on them Tuesday night, its all on the Yankees.
  7. Molitor is the Dusty Baker of bullpen usage. He abused Rogers for most of the season to the point he's not been as good for a while
  8. I agree they should certainly listen, one way to get minor leaguers up I'm a no on trading Rogers though
  9. I'm not counting on Romero as it seems they are watching his innings closely. Slegers and Gonsalves could factor in though. We have to get the bullpen some test
  10. Low risk move to improve a surprising club. Love to add a reliever to help give Rogers a rest
  11. I was wrong, Kielty But I do agree with the bitching of Ramos for Capps
  12. Doing exactly what they said, not mortgaging future. Cue the "I can't believe we gave up _______ for Jamie Garcia comments. I remember the Lew Ford for Shannon Stewart and Tyler Ladendorf for Orlando Cabrera freakout
  13. If we get quality controllable starters, all minor leaguers, and Rosario/Granite should be on the table
  14. Gibson and Mejia may be starting to come around, so that still gives us Santiago's spot to fill. With his comments, not thinking he's going to last in rotation. Should Slegers get a chance first?
  15. Hey, Rosario is already approaching his career high in walks. In any event, don't bring up Granite unless he's playing Everyday.
  16. Taking Lewis led to another 20s OF and a Canadian high school pitcher. Call me unimpressed with Falvine draft #1, of course these guys are a long ways from the bigs, so we won't know for a long while
  17. Call me disappointed, a Canadian pitcher and a 20-something OF? Don't we have enough 20-something OF already? I was one of the last stalwarts still supporting the old regime, I guess we wait a long time to see if Falvine is right. By the way, how many young SS are in the system now? Didn't we spend a ton on Wander Javier?
