  1. Really, he is not part of the future of the Twins staff, plus he had a 7+ ERA at Rochester, so Gene Glynn should be shown the door also. We were lucky to get the one season out of him that he had since he was a waiver pickup if I remember correctly. Under your thinking, the Yankees pitching coach should be fired for Hughes turning it around. Remember, this is AAA only.
  2. At 485 PA's, he would still have to be hitting .300 to possible get this. Maybe they'll move Fryer down and bring Pinto up for possible DH also. Hicks has to get another look also.
  3. Duensing is overpriced at this point and the Twins have plenty of replacements in the bullpen. The 40-man is littered with junk as stated. Who needs to be added this year from the minors?
  4. CR has some exciting pitchers to watch in Burdi, Stewart, Thorpe, Gonsalves, Hu, and Gallant have all been tremendous here. Eades, even though a 2nd Round pick has been overshadowed by these guys. He seems to give up a lot of dingers. Max Murphy finally got going after being shellshocked for a couple of games out of rookie ball. Love Mauer and Watkins as coaches also, I can see Smith being knocked out of NB and see some movement up for minor league coaches. Great job because besides Garver, hitting has been suspect.
  5. Going to be more interesting to see the starts for Meyer and Berrios than the actual Twins game tonight. Question, do you have to be on the 40-man when September call-ups come? I always assumed so.
  6. Amen to this. It's time for May and Meyer to start getting some major league innings, along with Achter, Tonkin and Oliveros
  7. Excited to see him in CR next year! Great post
  8. Sam Deduno is not part of the future and Gibson is. He is doing quite well for his first full year and I think be will be a 15 game winner in a year or two
  9. No, it's no different than signing a pitcher to a six year deal then he blows out his elbow. The Twins have seen enough concussions so I doubt the Twins tried to force him to catch
  10. To me it means trade 2-3 relievers at the deadline and see what these guys can do
  11. Gardy really protected Johan before the Mets used him like a rented mule. I have always thought Gardy protected his pitchers more than most managers.

    The Nolasco Solution

Sounds like Gardy has had enough....
  13. What about Ron Washington, seems like the Twins kind of manager and not appreciated in Texas

    Pino looked terrified...

After that first outing, he was not going after hitters and getting behind and they teed off
  15. It sounds like Stewart is on a 75-pitch limit per game.
  16. Gyorko is hitting about as well as Pedro Florimon right now. While Dozier's average is not quite where I'd like it, I believe I've seen enough to state that Dozier is part of the Twins future resurgence. Despite the average he leads the league in runs, already has 12 stolen bases and his defense has been phenomenal. I wouldn't even mind giving Dozier the Kipnis deal at this point. He is the only player that I see right now that is deserving of an extension.
  17. I think I've seen enough based upon his fielding and hitting that the right side of the infield is set for a while. I would think about trying to sign him to a longer term deal. He is part of the future with Rosario being part of the future OF
  18. Really? How many persons here got arrested for pubic intoxication or some similar offense in college? I think the last three U.S. Presidents all admitted to smoking pot, they just didn't have to get tested. Making mistakes is a natural part of life and I am guessing that he will work even harder when he comes back.
  19. I am happy we kept Colabello, we had way too many lefties. I think it's clear the Twins don't think Parmalee is going to make it, although Antony wants to light a fire under him. If Kubel doesn't hit, then Parmalee may get one more chance. Presley claimed, yawn. Twins going all in on Hicks and Arcia. Need to see if they can stick or be replaced by Buxton and Rosario. Bartlett, good story, we will see how it plays out, obviously Gardy wanted him.
  20. Imagine the interest that would be had if Sano could have been in Minnesota this year also.
  21. The battle is on between Gibson and Deduno, lots of red in the Diamond/Worley category. Gardy said he wanted Deduno, starting or in the pen. I think I'd love him in the pen. I'd send Pressly back to AAA for a while. Then you get to keep Gibson as the 5th starter and jettison Diamond and Worley. The end of Worley certainly came from me after his last start and was just punctuated about the wind complaints.
  22. It's organizational philosophy, TK sure hated on Francona bunting last night, and it didn't work in the end
  23. I thought I'd try my hand at a post by starting with a topic I've been looking for some time. We all know the Rwins need starting pitching and we've discussed the free agents a bunch. I thought I would look at some starters that may be available via trade or by not having their options picked up. First team up, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Angels payroll for this year is around $151 million. In 2013, the Angels have approximately $93 million committed to payroll. The Angela have two starters under contract in 2013, Jared Weaver at $16 million and CJ Wilson at $11.5 million. Zack Greinke is a free agent who would cost at least $20 million to sign. Dan Haren has a Club option for $15.5 million and Ervin Santana has a club option worth $11.5 million. I think the Angels will pay Santana the $1 million buyout. But what about Dan Haren? The Angels still have the hideous $24 million to pay for two more years for Vernon Wells. Also, Albert Pujols salary jumps from $16 million to $23 million in 2014. So signing a pitcher aka Greinke long term could really push the payroll towards the limit, especially in 2014. If you sign Greinke and pick up Haren's option you have at least $63 million to 4 starters in 2013. With Torii coming off the books, the Angels need another OF, 3b (Trumbo is a DH), are in need of a catcher and their bullpen is either old or ineffective and needs replacing. A Mike Napoli would cost at least $10 million, plus a decent replacement for Torii would cost $5 to $10 million and that still leaves 3B and the bullpen. So is Haren worth $15.5 million and/or should the Angels exercise the option? Haren will turn 32 in September and has logged at least 216 innings from 2005-2011. Hitters are also hitting .281 against him this year. Even with Arte Moreno's money, I decline Haren's option and concentrate on other areas of need as the innings are catching up with him and I have to many other needs. So, on my opinion, the starting pitchers in the offseason will include Santana and Haren. Santana is just the type of guy the Twins could try, someone coming off a bad year but still has good stuff. The 30-year old has an ERA of 5.5 this year and his K/BB ratio is less than 2 to 1 for the first time in the recent past has to be concerning. However, he was lights out in the second half of last year, and even with his horrid year, the league is still only hitting .259 against him. I think he could be had on a 2-year $10 to $12 million a year. At that price, I think the Twins should pursue. As for Haren, I don't think he'd be in the Twins rang, but it would be good to widen the field of available starters can only help the Twins.

    ISO Starters - Angels

  25. We would have really been screwed if we signed those guys long term. Now we will have payroll flexibility. I like our lineup 1-7. I think Morneau is coming around. Everybody knows we need pitching, but in one offseason we picked. Up Willingham and Doumit to solidify the lineup. I look forward to watching this team every day, unlike last year's pathetic display
