  1. It was good hustle by Schoop. But I do think that almost all center fielders make that catch.
  2. At least his first start is against Detroit. I hope I am wrong, but he doesn’t look all that ready for the MLB to me.
  3. Yes. And even better with Buxton between Kepler and Larnach
  4. The Donaldson signing was a question mark from day 1 , mainly due to his injury history. But the fact is , when healthy he is really the only good 3b option on the roster. Arraez keeps proving he is not a very good option. Sano as an option, really??? Don’t know much about Miranda’s defense, but my hunch is that the Twins do not consider him a 3rd baseman. The signing maybe hasn’t worked as planned, but trading him for nothing and still paying him 10 million + to play for someone else doesn’t sound like a great idea.
  5. Donaldson might be overpaid, but he is still one of the better current lineup pieces. Is paying him to play for another team really saving much money? You still have to replace him and projecting Arraez and Miranda as possible everyday replacements might be wishful thinking.
  6. If he would return a above average prospect, sure take it . Otherwise, why can’t be the main DH next year and backup at 2b, SS and 3b?
  7. I agree. Polanco projects to be the starting 2b next year, why move him back to SS? The Twins will most likely be bringing in a free agent at SS for next year, maybe Simmons, maybe someone else. Why mess with a move that seems to have worked this year??
  8. Pitching wins, but is very expensive when buying in the free agent market . A starting short stop would be be my top priority, unless Royce is deemed ready to fill that spot. And then pitching. My question is. In this era of getting 5 innings from a starter and then running out 4-5 relievers every game, wouldn’t bullpen arms be a better investment than throwing 10-15 million at a starter?
  9. To say “defense doesn’t matter “ was maybe a bit harsh. But the signing of these two aging players has not worked to help upgrade the defense. In fact, the eye test and a lot of statistics seem to indicate it has regressed.
  10. I voted to fire both. Not a fan of this brand of analytics, where only home runs matter and defense is an afterthought. And pitching? I have not been able to figure out what exactly the plan is there. Not fun to watch this team.
  11. Maybe the hitters should be more concerned about making less errors/poor plays in the field and inability to hit in the clutch or situationally, than the bullpen needing to throw 5 shutout innings every night….
  12. What is Rocco thinking?? 7 innings and 99 pitches from a starting pitcher?? Berrios better get a couple extra days off after such a taxing effort.
  13. If anyone can explain ANY of the pitching changes tonight, I would like to hear it. I need to learn the analytics to explain it….
  14. 1: Terry Ryan got run out of town for such thoughts. And he was a much better judge of talent than you and me will ever be. 2: Too bad Gordon or Polanco can not play a passable SS. No spot for Gordon on the active roster one Arraez comes back 3: Shoemaker is a proven MLB pitcher, Ober made two starts and hasn’t got past the 5 inning 4: weird how the bullpen looks better when Rogers and Duffey are getting people out. Robles is a little scary to me i will take the over....forever an optimist
  15. Like it not or not he may still be the best option in the short run. Several of the other options that many are trying to rush to the major leagues are either hurt, coming off injuries, or simply too inexperienced. Shoemaker has had major league success in the past, granted it has been a few years.
  16. Simmons was brought in to provide SS defense, he has done that. None of the Polanco, Arraez or Gordon trio would be an upgrade. Rooker hasn’t been very good or all that healthy at AAA, he does not look to be an upgrade to anyone on the current active roster at this time. Looks like Ober and Jax will be first in line to get major league looks. I like these moves, but don’t think Happ or Shoemaker are, or should be, done getting starts.
  17. Trading every available bit of current mlb talent for prospects and rushing that prospect to the big leagues is not a good plan . IMO
  18. He reminded me of Eddie Rosario, cept Eddie has a better bat.
  19. I agree he is not the main reason for the Twins failures so far this year. That falls squarely on Thad and Rocco, as well as the underachieving “core” players. Austudillo is what he is, a slow, poor fielding, average hitter, who you do not want up to bat in the late innings with the game on the line. He is a good story and fun to watch at times, but doesn’t really have a role on any contending team active roster.
  20. Another non-quality start from Maeda. Hopefully Happ can give one on Tuesday and Pineda is able to make his start on Wednesday.
  21. Watched Alcala’s effort last night. He hit 99 once, but had trouble throwing strikes. It was not a good outing. I think it is ok to keep running him out at the major league level, but not in important situations.
  22. Was I the only one expecting Rocco to pull Happ after 5 innings?
  23. He has had 1 quality start out of 4 attempts, not good.
