Twins fans 25th most annoying, 29th worst behaved
Brandon replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I am not a big fan of insane spending either. on the other hand the Padres doesn't bother me all that much compared to the Yankees and Mets. more so the Mets. buying a team (building through only high end free agency) makes me dislike them. if you don't have a self developed core of a team how can you respect them? That's why I didn't fully hate the Yankees when they were last winners completely. I mean I still did just not as much. The Yankees now feel more like corporate and how is that fun? The Mets have taken over the George Steinbrenner brand and while I don't like them either. I prefer the added drama over being corporate boring. I think its more fun now to rally against the Mets then the Yankees. The Yankees are so yesterday. I haven't really been to a game where the fans suck. I mean the Dodgers fans can be unruly. but They think its cute or something when your a Twins fan. be a Giants fan and they will have issues.... I have been to games with annoying fans but I am also sure i was that annoying fan to someone else too. Teams like the Twins, Royals, Pittsburg, and I am sure there are others not the Rays though. kind of the A's have a family feel which I enjoy. also the blue collar we gotta work with what we got vibe as well. Teams with too many resources for all problems annoy me. I like when teams get creative to win. and in closing, in addition to hating the Yankees, I hate the Yankees. -
The Twins could still spend more and fans should demand it
Brandon replied to Flyover Steve's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Also The spending went up when the Chargers left town. The Padres are the only sports in town now. so where else are you going to spend money? with the Padres being good now that helps even more. They are selling lots of tickets. Compare to Minnesota with the Wild, Vikings, Timberwolves, U of M, Lynx, and St Paul Saints. Does Minnesota have a soccer team? Ski? Polo? or Cricket? Back to the article. I am happy with how this team is constructed. I would prefer they spent on a reliever but the depth on this team surpasses any team I have ever watched.- 61 replies

The Tigers are in a frustrating position. Not quite bad enough to tear down and start over but no help is on the horizon from their minor leagues either. That has to be the worst part that nothing is coming from the minors. At least KC has some good prospects coming up. This makes me appreciate being a Twins fan, at least when we fall apart we can take 4 or 5 years to accumulate talent but we are at least competitive at that point.

If the Vikings and Timberwolves and Wild all left town the Twins could gain enough revenue to approach the payroll tax levels I’m sure. That’s what happened to the Pads with the Chargers leaving town. Add the owner is willing to spend adds the extra 50 million or so and also the sold out season.

It could be psychological. He may still be afraid to air it all out after the injury. But I think he just needs time to build back up.

Spring Stories: Who gets the Opening Day start?
Brandon replied to Adam Neisen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The starter should be the winner of 2 out of three if paper, rock and scissors . That’s usually the best way to settle a 5 way tie.- 26 replies

So do we need to develop pitchers in our system or do we need to draft and develop them so they count? We traded for and developed Alcala and Duran. Also on the horizon is SWR. We technically drafted and developed Thielbar, Jax and Moran. Ober and Winder have the most MLB experience and will be atleast good middle to back end starters. Varland did well in his first appearance in the show. We have lots of other prospects as well Preliepp and Raya among others. We also have 3 openings next season so let’s hope the development continues. again the 2020 season really messed things up for pitching development and last year was our first full normal development season and we have several pitchers knocking on the door. And I will take prospects however we get them. Even the ones we acquired for nothing. (C David Banuelos who will be in AAA for example).

Caleb Thielbar, and Why Age Doesn't Equal Potential
Brandon replied to Ted Wiedmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Since he unlocked his stuff with Falvine would that make him one of their successes for developing pitchers? also if he can pitch through age 40 season he could end up with over 600 games for his career which is above average for a reliever. Through age 42 and he can approach 750. That’s more than most relievers who came up in their 20’s and stayed. I hope he can finish his career in Minnesota. That would be cool. -
Twins Add Infield Depth, Sign Veteran Donovan Solano
Brandon replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It’s going to get weird when we acquire Chase Petty for our rotation in a few years. -
What Are Realistic Expectations for Randy Dobnak?
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Dobnak makes 30 starts it’s because he is pitching great. We have too many options that can pitch well. It would take many injuries for that to be the reason he gets 30 starts. Injuries are more likely to get him 10 starts give or take. -
What Are Realistic Expectations for Randy Dobnak?
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Dobnak makes 30 starts in the majors it’s because he’s pitching better than the other prospects who are higher rated and putting up consistently good numbers to be able to stay in the rotation. Do I expect that this season no. He could get half a season as a reliever and spot starter this year. But next year we are short 3 starters. It would be nice if he was a viable 5th starter for next year. I have no expectations other than I hope he can make it back and add 1 WAR to his totals to justify his extension. -
Twins Daily 2023 Top Prospects: #1 Brooks Lee, SS
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I don't know man. Pete Incaviglia had a much faster rise to MLB. If he can't surpass Pete how is he even a top prospect? (for those wondering Pete debuted in the majors right out of college and hit 30 HRs as a rookie. He was also an average at best hitter for his career). -
Is a Deal with Chaska’s Brad Hand in the Cards?
Brandon replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Signing hand vs Megill can’t hurt to have them earn that spot in the pen. -
I like our rotation a lot. its better then the 2010 rotation. (we had a solid 5 starters that season). our defense should be back to the standard TK version from what I am reading here with all the good defensive players we have here. I like our depth. we have lots of solutions to add in case of injuries. i think the line up is ok. but its way better then it would have been if Correa signed elsewhere. I am not sure what to make of the Gallo signing in all honesty. I guess i hope he hits like Sano. 35 HRs lots of Ks and walks. I guess the real lineup improvement will hinge on Gallo's bounce back and AK development and return from injured wrist and how long Buxton can stay in the lineup this year. Can he make it to 130 games with 90 in the OF and 40 at DH? The bullpen is solid or more aptly average. There is potential there. so do we have a greater then the some of all parts team or is it going to be another season where we spring a leak somewhere new every game? that is why we watch to find out.

Is There More to Trevor Megill?
Brandon replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Megill has a nice floor of being a solid 8th man out of the pen. can he be more? developing a new pitch can take a while, maybe even another year. so I think if he makes strides and pitches to a low 4 era in the 8th spot in the pen why not? he is making the minimum or close to it for this season and next right? especially if he is throwing 98 and making progress on pitches. I would rather his issue be pitch sequencing. That would be an easier and faster fix. getting a new pitch down can be hard and may not even take hold. Will be a fun development to watch. does he stay at floor level or move up a few rungs this year and next. I imagine if he hasn't made enough strides by the time he reaches arbitration he will be gone. maybe one year of arb but definitely not 2. -
Twins Injury Concerns to Monitor in Spring Training
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am trusting the news that AK is fine going into the season so he should be good moving forward as far as his wrist is concerned. Once we see him on the field we will know with even more certainty but for now I choose to believe the news he is fine. Buxton is my biggest concern with the knee injury as that can sap his speed. Maeda is my second big concern in that his control may not be back and he may be on an innings limit. Gray and Ober are more of a when will the knicks get to them and how long they will miss because of them. I don't expect a serious injury from either but something nagging that will keep them out for a month. Will that come at an inconvenient time? I expect Correa's ankle will be fine for a few years. check back with me in years 4, 5, and 6 of his contract. There are always going to be sprains and minor injuries, and we are stacked in depth for them so i am ok with those types of injuries. just hope to keep the out for the rest of the year injuries to a minimum.- 26 replies

Was the Bomba Squad Overrated?
Brandon replied to Adam Neisen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We beat the Yankees by 1 and hold the MLB season team record for HRs in a season. And we beat the Yankees by ☝️ so it was a huge success and to cheapen it in anyway is to be a Yankees fan.- 56 replies

The question is can he be the next Berrios? can he pitch 180 innings year in and year out and will he sign an extension to cover several free agent seasons so we can have him for 8 or 9 seasons and trade him towards the end for the next Berrios to keep the Berrios thread going. Longevity of benefit from a 1rst round pick 30 years after the player (Berrios) was drafted is always nice...

The Battle for the 5th Rotation Spot (Maeda V.S Ober)
Brandon replied to WhenWillWeBeatNY's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Maeda in rotation Ober is 6th man AAA to start the season Winder is this season’s Jax in the pen. Ober will still get 20-25 starts in major leagues this season if he stays healthy. -
One "Moore" Bullpen Piece for Minnesota
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If the Twins do this it would need to be a pre negotiated contract so the player has enough time in spring training to ramp up for the regular season. There won’t be time for a bidding war for a reliever and the relievers know it.- 42 replies

It’s a Make Or Break Year for Jorge Polanco
Brandon replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As established as Polanco is on the team. He would need a bad year or be injured into next year to be traded or let go after the season. The team still needs veterans and Gallo, Kepler and Taylor are free agents after the season. There is 2 and a half spots in the OF for the young guys ready to come up. also, 1B if Killeroff doesn't produce this year. I think this is his make or break year. I mean if Killeroff shows potential they may give him a chance next year too but....- 32 replies

One "Moore" Bullpen Piece for Minnesota
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I was just popping off. Quick get the Twins some money so they can afford more players. Though if revenue did spike because of the expectations of a great season then I can see the Twins adding to this years payroll. but it would need to be a spike of 20 million +. that seems like a lot to ask. so the reality is fun to think about these cartoonish scenario's play out.. Its the offseason so why not,- 42 replies

wiith 29 games, I'll go with 18-11. I thought about 20-9 but i subtracted 2 due to my over optimisim. 18-11 sounds about right. I wouldn't blame you if you thought 17-12. but I dont see how they are any worse if the team is relatively healthy.

One "Moore" Bullpen Piece for Minnesota
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
With Pagan. ..... Ouch...... we have enough relievers to start the season. there are 4 or 5 relievers for the last 2 slots if Alcala is good to go for the season. (Moran, Megill, Coulombe, Winder, and maybe Henriquez with the others further down options). We can always trade for one if need be before the deadline. They don't seem too expensive at that time for a middle reliever.- 42 replies
