  1. This is pure speculation, but I think Buxton enjoys not having the pressure on him when batting leadoff. Buxton seems as comfortable as he's ever been in that 9 spot and I don't think the Twins really need to mess with his mojo by changing his spot if it is a lefty or a righty on the mound.
  2. His stat line may not say it, but I thought Perez pitched pretty well tonight. Made a mistake on the HR to Edwin, but his strikeouts were back today. Still needs work on not giving up so many walks. Both of them came back to hurt him.
  3. There's also a big picture to all this too. Is giving up top prospects to a division rival worth a rental relief pitcher, who is not guaranteed at all to put up the same numbers as before he was traded? I don't think so. Plus if the Twins don't win the WS then we just gave up those prospects for basically nothing. There's less risk for giving up those prospects to a team in the NL or in a different division. There's good reason why intra-division trades aren't all that common.
  4. I don't think trades within a division for a reliever is a good idea. We could very well be sending top prospects that could come back and haunt us for many games during the season. Will Smith + Bumgarner trade please.
  5. I wonder what the Twins are going to do regarding 2B during the offseason. If Schoop steps it up a bit this season and has a good 25 HRs with around a .800 OPS do we extend him for a couple years? He obviously brings more pop to the plate than we would get with Arraez. Plus Schoop is relatively young so his prime may not even have come yet. Personally I think we resign Schoop and condition Arraez to be the next MarGo for us.
  6. Jake Cave is on an absolute tear. Could he possibly be used in a trade package? Seems like our outfield is pretty stacked at the moment.
  7. Not going to be able to put Rodgers and May out there every game. Get BP help.
  8. And we're up against Bauer tomorrow. I have a feeling this is a series the Twins will want to quickly forget about.
  9. What a joke. lmao. The dude has under 100 ABs this season and he's "fading" already. Give me a break.
  10. Bieber is a good pitcher and definitely not mediocre. He's arguably Cleveland's best pitcher. Just gotta tip your cap to them and say they pitched better than we did.
  11. Bumgarner and Smith for Gordon, Javier, Rooker, and Littell
  12. My dream: Sign Kimbrel. Trade for Bumgarner and Will Smith. Have a rotation of Odor, Bumgarner, Berrios, Perez, Gibson. Have a bullpen of Kimbrel, Smith, Rodgers, Parker, Harper, May, and Duffey.
  13. If Kimbrel gets a contract its gonna be for a large amount of money. He shouldn't care if he's pitching the 9th inning or the 5th inning. I doubt he values having sole possession of the 9th over 15-20 million dollars.
  14. Also sounds like Cruz had a good couple of rehab games and is ready to rejoin the club. Looks like we might be greeting Cleveland with our (finally) all healthy lineup and Smeltzer on the mound. Gonna be a fun series.
  15. I'm really excited to follow Nelson Cruz through the minors. The guy looks like he has some potential.
  16. I think a third of a season is a pretty good sample size. Twins have beat up bad opponents and played about .500 baseball against playoff contenders. They absolutely are a 100 win caliber team. Sure maybe that might change over the course of the season, but as of right now...yes, yes they are playing like a 100 win caliber team. And if your response is a snarky "oh well obviously they can't win 100 games in 56 games played" then I'd be disappointed, but I'm strictly talking about them playing at the same level as 100 win teams of past seasons.
  17. 3 runs against Tampa is good. It wasn't our offense's fault tonight. If Perez was as sharp as we've grown accustomed to seeing him this year we win this game.
  18. There's no way Lindor gets the start if Polanco keeps going on his pace. Baseball fans have recognized that Polanco is doing better than LIndor this year. At this pace Lindor shouldn't even go to the all-star game. It should be Polanco starting with either Bogaerts or Anderson backing up.
  19. I'd rather have Cruz taking professional at bats in October at full strength than him taking painful at bats in May that could further deteriorate his recovery process.
