i guess we just dont understand why you would go to all the trouble to smash on one dude that has been a loyal Twin his whole career. I understand you think you have valid evidence to back up your claims. My point is this, Why? Why now? What is motivating you? Sometimes my friend you have to take into account all the other factors that cannot be found in the analytical numbers. What may happen to people like Sano, Polanco, Adrianza, Buxton, and Kepler if Eddie is dissed out of the organization? What message would THAT send? I am all for the value of analytics. Now that we can all embrace it and recognize its importance let us not forget the human elements of the game of Baseball. I guarantee you Baldelli understands it. For those of us that have played the game we understand. The players are not robots they are people too. Eddie Rosario will not be easy to replace. Maybe his numbers will, but Eddie, the teammate, the Twin will be missed a great deal.

Now that the season is in the middle(or lower half) I knew somebody at Twins daily would have to break out their "Rosario Hater" file and say something. I wonder who leads the MLB in outfield assists? I guarantee you Merrifield will never try to test Rosario's arm again. The other night Sano hit a homerun as i watched the game and I swear I heard Bremer say "He has just tied Rosario for second on the team with homerun number 9. Yeah ....dang I wish we could get someone to take him off our hands. Whenever they win, they have a sort of team celebration in the clubhouse and whoever is deemed de-facto star of that game gets a game ball. (a la a winning football locker room) Im not sure but I believe it was started by Torii Hunter. Remember him? A lot of us do. The torch was passed to Escobar, then Mauer(who, if you dig deep did an incredible job at it), and then guess who? Not Cruz. Not Sano. Not Kepler, and not Polanco. It IS Rosario. One of my earlier posts i said he was a team leader. Somebody pushed back ...Eddie Rosario IS a leader on this team and he will be here at least until after 2021 trust me. And we will miss him when he is gone. I have seen all i need to see of Brent Rooker in the outfield. Lets leave Eddie alone because he is what he is. A vital member of a damn good team. Nobody in St.Paul, Rochester, or Pensacola can carry his bat bag.

The September Jolt We Forgot We Needed
Channing1964 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
True all that! I have been thinking how nice it is to have Hill around as that reliable lefty long reliever or situational lefty. On those days when we need a guy from like innings 4-6 He seems like he has a great attitude and he could still be a spot starter and be available in the post season. I think he is just a winner and now we won't have to watch Thorpe screw things up anymore. We could do a lot worse than Maeda, Berrios, Pineda, Dobnak, and Odorizzi. -
hahahaaaaa true that... did they burn up Minaya, Poppen and Thielbar too! lololol... look every team is gonna experience ups and downs. Donaldson, Odorizzi, Pineda and Garver aren't gonna solve anything. Get back to work and do your job is the only answer. We have seen this before. Only this time maybe we have the guys that can pull it back together.

Twins Notebook 9/1: Big Mike is Back
Channing1964 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
"Rock Bottom" ...lol how old are you? I can tell you about rock bottom and this sure as hell aint it. Even with the lineup we have Playing we are better than Cleveland AND Chicago. I knew everyone was gonna say ohmygawd wheres Kiriloff to save the day etc...etc.... Can we wait to see how this week transpires please? In this season all you have to do is be healthy and somewhat hot by Sept 29th. -
Twins Daily 2020 Trade Deadline Preview
Channing1964 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
yeah true that what everybody said. We don't Have to make a trade. I mean what would it cost to get Bundy or Wow Bauer. I know a lot of people dont like him but Damn Trevor Bauer would look great in a Twins uni. And i bet he already has some sort of relationship with Falvey. He would instantly become our #1a starter. (hard to top Maeda at the moment) I wouldn't mind to see Givens but he's a righty and i think to go there we best make sure its a sort of dependable left hander. In regards to trading for Bauer, Cincinnati has no real need for corner outfielders or slow power hitters. I mean maybe but i doubt it. They are gonna want pitching prospects for Bauer. That's gonna make it tough.- 9 replies

Yeah this is a great question for anyone. The fact that Dobnak and probably Maeda(i knew Kenta would be great) are lights out is nice. Berrios is disappointing me very much. He doesnt look like somebody that wants an extension. Hill is probably what he really is. A mentor and spot starter on a really good team. Pineda will make a big difference here in a week or so. Odorizzi is going to have to step up big time. Nobody (The Twins either) is giving him a multi-year deal after this disappointment.

Of the three mentioned....Kendrick is a Ball player. If you want to win, he's a guy to go get. Unfortunately we have guys just like him already. I would never be interested in an Indians cast off. And Solano with the Giants can just stay with the Giants. He's not too special no matter what the spread sheet says

Twins Daily 2020 Trade Deadline Preview
Channing1964 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm down with Pillar but not for a top prospect. In this sprint of a season we are getting reminded of the little things that always go wrong. They are magnified now. If we were losing, in my opinion, everyone would be bitching about where is Donaldson? credit to the staff that throughout the injuries we are still in a great spot. It's a weird season and a veteran outfielder would certainly help but I like our guys. Top to bottom its a really good team. Everybody knows that.- 9 replies

wow this thread kind of blew up. I cant speak for anyone else but I'd like to hear more about Celestino. One of our weaknesses is when Buxton goes down. I hear nothing but good about Celestino. No offense against Wade jr. but during this time now, why don't we see what Celestino can do?

The One Player Minnesota Shouldn’t Trade For
Channing1964 replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
i think the point of the thread was should we trade for him. The answer is Hell no. but it's not fair to sit here and criticize him for what was an anomaly in 2018. He has been solid in every year of his career. These are things that don't show up on analytic sheets or unless you would have talked to the man and asked him what was wrong. I hope we find a way to care about the players and use the data. Lynn would look good in our rotation now. Unfortunately that wont ever happen again. -
Minnesota’s Present and Future Catching Duo
Channing1964 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
True to all of that. Wade is kind of redundant. One of them between Wade and Cave will be around but there won't be room for both. I just don't see the Twins promoting Kiriloff or Larnach unless they are gonna start. Too bad they arent cf. In the meantime, we have to play the hand we are dealt. I guess its obvious we need cf and sp in the next draft. Sooner than later we will be talking about Celestino as a cf option i think. As far as the catching, this will be huge for Garver to have a better return. Every day he stays out, Jeffers gets more time. The lefty righty catching platoon system is not going away. Its clear the Twins like it. There is no way they start 2021 with Jeffers AND Garver on the 25 man. Most likely Jeffers is in Rochester. Either Avila or some other veteran lefty hitting catcher will be around. I did not mention Astudillo because barring injury, im afraid we have no room for him anymore. -
What's Eating Taylor Rogers?
Channing1964 replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
im sure he will be Aight. He's been to good for too long to suck too bad except for small stretches. I knew he and Wes would figure it out. I still dont think we need to "Designate him as the official closer" though. -
MIN 3, CLE 2: Bullpen Bends, Does Not Break
Channing1964 replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We are getting spoiled with this embarassment of bullpen riches in my opinion. I am having fun watching Cleveland spin their wheels and lose ground because they dont have high quality guys that are good teammates with good character and unselfishness. Not having Clevenger and Plesac is going to ruin their season. And just today I heard they are keeping Clevenger down to screw him out of service time. So there you have it. They are what I knew they were. Every time someone in the media rants and raves about how GREAT the Cleveland Indians are I just want to throw up. They are a bunch of clowns. To be forever known as the team that finally let the Chicago Scrubs win a championship. -
Minnesota’s Present and Future Catching Duo
Channing1964 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
i dont know why everybody wants to write Avila off. I wasn't that excited about him watching him play for the D-Backs last year. Frankly I thought he was washed up or he was just ready to retire. Granted Lovullo thinks he has to keep three catchers around to hit .185 and strikeout with RISP. However, watchng Avila as a Twin is way different. At this point I would not be surprised if he doesn't wanna sign another one year deal. If he does i seriously hope the Twins oblige. He seems like he works well with the pitchers and he handles the bat like a real pro. Im not trying to be an Astudillo hater but with the emergence of Jeffers now I dont see room for him anymore. I am sure the outrage will fierce but students of the game can see the writing on La Tortuga's wall. I also wonder how guys like Marwin Cruz, Adrianza and May feel about coming back. I know its early but the off-season is shaping up to be quite a story. -
Week in Review: Riding the Roller Coaster
Channing1964 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You are absolutely right....Im not sure he's our best center fielder and he's not too dangerous against lhp, but the dude is a good ball player. We could do a hell of a lot worse with that roster spot.- 10 replies

Keep Your Unwritten Rules, Let the Kids Play
Channing1964 commented on Ted Schwerzler's blog entry in Off The Baggy
*the rules change with the generations....Im sure Babe Ruth got thrown at...now if you hit somebody OMG. If you hit Ty Cobb you knew your 2b or Ss was gonna pay somehow. Thats why they say let the game police itself. Now everything is on youtube- 10 comments

yeah, nobody cared about Garver's pop time when he hit 31 bombs. Jeffers looks kind of overmatched to me , sorry for all the excited new comers. I dont think Garver is as good as he was in 2019, or as bad as he has been so far. Say all you want about Tanner Swanson but he's gone now. Avila is a wily veteran and a very good back up and handler of the bat but if he has to play every day we are in Trouble! It is what is. Garver will come back and be a lot better. Avila will do what Avila always has done. and we'll roll the dice with those guys in the tournament. POP stats are cool to look at but Realmuto only threw out 46% of the base stealers last year. If anybody noticed in 10 games Kansas City stole bases at WILL. The only thing that stopped them was the inability of guys like Mondesi, Phillips, and Lopez to even get on base. Give me a guy that blocks the bad ones, calls a great game, and handles the bat with common sense and Kewl.
