  1. Or as of Yesterday Contreas and Glasser for Hader. Is that enough?
  2. Hasn't Oakland had a bunch of these trades where most are scratching their heads on what they got? Then 3-5 years later they're winning 85-95 games a year. Maybe it is the range + no shift way to look at it. 4 1/2 more inches of bases as well. Didn't Ruiz kid steal close to 90 bases in the minors with the new rules? Maybe they're Zigging while we all carry on with our Zag. I'm leaning the bad trade direction.
  3. No Correa and No Rodon. This was very likely at the beginning of this offseason and seems less likely now then it was then. If I remember correctly most on this site were saying 10-15% chance they resign Correa at the start. 50/50 now? I'm not willing to give up on this just yet. Rodon has been a crowd favorite here. But the contracts handed out so far have him wanting 7 years at IDK $30 mil? Does that come with a 7 year bumper to bumper warrantee? What now? How about Nathan Eovaldi 3@18-20, Wil Wyers 2@7.5 and Aroldis Chapmen 1@10. Trade for a SS. Kiner Fafela should work and not cost much in prospects. Plus an extension or two. Arreaz and Mahle are what I'd like to see. Do these moves make us a series favorite. No of course not. These moves plus Miranda getting better, Arreaz being Arreaz, Polanco healthy, Larnach and Kirilloff being league average, Ryan's 3rd pitch gets better should get us in the playoffs. As Philly just proved if you peek at the right time you don't have to have the best record for the season. Just in each series in the post season. Retool. At the start on the season because we missed out on some free agents? No. I think they'll just run it back with Farmer as the starting SS. By the trade deadline if they play as bad as they did in the 2nd half of last season we are going to have a large amount of new prospects in the farm system and young guys starting everywhere.
  4. Although I pretty sure I'm one of the few. I'm stuck in the wait till the deadline on Kepler. The return isn't going to be that much less and it's maybe 50/50 that his value increases as a trade chip by then. If they are determined to trade him 1 vs 1 it doesn't look like there's much to work with. Kepler + $ and maybe our Comp A pick should get a higher quality prospect or a couple MLB regulars without taking on any of the bad contracts they are carrying right now.
  5. Unless something is missing it looks like Milwaukee crushed this trade.
  6. Maybe they could send us Frankie Montas back..
  7. One less catcher available.. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/12/braves-acquire-sean-murphy.html

  9. From what I've read Senga has a lot of reliever risk. So I'm fine with some other team taking on that risk. If there something that is bothering me it's the Mets payroll. 343 mil???...and not done yet...maybe they'll pay Correa 40 mil for 12 years as well...and Ohtani next year for 50 x 12...
  10. Seems highly unlikely that Bogaerts would get a better offer no matter how long Boras holds out,
  11. Seems like a fair trade. I would rather wait till the trade deadline to move Kepler. To many unanswered questions in the OF right now imo.
  12. And here we are in mid-December. He's got a month to go before his clients normally sign...
  13. To answer the topic question. Actually, sign a free agent we have heard of seems like a good place to start.
  14. There are so many unknowns with the guys on the 40-man roster due to injuries last season and youth. I don't see how throwing piles of cash or long-term contracts at anything other than SS would make any sense at all. If by uncomfortable you mean 10 years of Correa at whatever it takes, I agree 100% But if by half measures you mean backup catcher, starting pitching depth, bull pen and maybe a right-handed outfielder. I disagree. 100%
  15. This. Lopez is a good pitcher but I don't think he's that much if at all better then some of the FA pitchers out there.
  16. How many payoff teams were starting players in August that are similar to Cave, Beckam, Contreas or Celestino consistently? Would the Phillies have made it to the series with Cave in left, Contreas in right and Celestino in center? IDC what team it is if you're starting you 50th-60th best prospect/player you're not going too far in the playoffs. To make the playoffs in 2022 the Twins would have needed 10 more wins. WAR 1 win = $8 mil. So, $80 mil to be the last playoff team. How does that make sense? Now IF this group (healthy) can get into the playoffs and by chance win a single series at $130 mil. That says 10 more wins ($80 Mil in payroll) will likely get you to at least the ALCS.
  17. It's probably about the window is just opening or closing when it comes to spending. The Padres are in a have to win in the next season or two rut. Machado can opt out after 2023 Davish and Snell are free agents after 2023 and Soto is a free agent the following season. By 2025 Xander and Tatis may be about all that's left of the team they will have this year. Most of our position players, bull pen and maybe 1/2 the people who start games this year will likely still be on the team at the start of 2025. Got a little off topic there... Can we spend like the Padres are. Of course. Did we just go to the league championship game? Not even close. Until we actually make some noise in the playoffs I wouldn't expect to many 11 year contracts just to spend like the Padres.
  18. From what I've read Vazquez fits what I believe the Twins are looking for better then probably all the other free agent catchers. I hope they get him signed. There are just as good or maybe better catchers out on the trade market, but the player/prospect cost would be steep. Spend the money Twins.
  19. No one we expected them to go after has signed yet. Lets not lit the torches just yet and put the pitch forks away. Technically it's only the third day of the offseason. As most say it doesn't start till the winter meetings. Boris Corp will drag this out as long as possible. So no matter how badly we want to open our presents under the tree. They will make us wait till it's Christmas day or later for that to happen. It's in their best interest. Clearing up the catcher situation and maybe a RH outfielder is what I had hoped they would tackle 1st. I don't expect much in the SP and reliever area until CC is settled.
  20. Now is not the time for pessimism. Plus both those things have been highly likely from the get go. They are going to do something substantial with or without Correa....I hope....?
  21. Well I'm glad that is finally over. No more excuses for why CC hasn't signed with somebody.
  22. Trea to Phillies $300 mil over 11. I don't think a deadline helps. Just make your best offers to the remaining three..
  23. If this was settled by the end on the winter meetings I'd be thrilled. I'm on the fence on Correa. Is he the best shortstop I've seen play as a Twin. Yes, definitely. Is that worth 25% of the team's payroll..Is $40 mil of Correa win more games than $25 mil of Bogarts and $15 mil of Haniger? (the #'s are just guesses) I'd pass on Correa only if I had another one of the other 4 SS ready to sign. I don't want to rely of Lewis to be our SS till he earns it. The waiting till mid-January for an answer is the part that bothers me the most.
  24. The DeGrom deal is a pretty big gamble by the Rangers. If it goes south, they can afford it but IDK if they can have too many bad contracts and win it that division.
  25. If the FO had any plans to try and sign Rodon (IMO a big if) I'd guess the Mets would out bid them. IDK if they'll pivot to another pitcher. Maybe Bassit? I'd guess they'll spend more on the offense if they're priced out the pitching market.
