  1. Doesn't seem like an MLB team ever has to "leave a roster spot open". Injuries and/or ineffectiveness usually open up a spot...
  2. With all due respect to everything Terry Ryan did for the organization, anyone else have more confidence in Falvine to draft better and develop better than the previous regime?
  3. He. Is. Gone. If they're lucky someone will want to take a shot at his "potential" and will give the Twins something in return.
  4. I'm biased. I've always liked Santana. Not sure of the fit. I think he's a better short-term fit than long term, assuming Sano moves to 1B after Mauer's contract runs out in '18. Also likely going to get a 3-yr deal from an AL team. This team proved more than adequate offensively, so my first reaction is every dime should be spent on pitching. Hate to say it, but Frazier may be the better short term fit b/c he can play 3B if Sano isn't ready. If Sano is ready to hit in April but not field, he can DH. Frazier could also DH and of course adds the RH bat this lineup needs.
  5. The eye test says Mauer should be a finalist. Even today's hallowed advanced metrics say Mauer should be a finalist. Further evidence that the Gold Glove is the biggest joke of the major awards. 17 errors total from left side of Twins' infield says it all...that number is doubled if not for Mauer. We probably shouldn't get too worked up about it b/c I doubt Joe gives a s--t if he wins it or not.
  6. Some here are talking bullpen help as well. So, here's a question for everyone. Is Trevor May a solid enough addition to the 'pen next year to warrant allocating FA dollars to a starter or is that too much of a risk coming off TJ. Can they trust him to be a setup man coming off surgery? Or even the closer?
  7. One thing is clear. The playoffs have shown that you aren't advancing if you don't have an ace. So, the dilemna then becomes how do you get one? Do you wait and hope Berrios or Romero become one? Gonsalves isn't projected to be that type of pitcher. Do you go out and pay for one? Difficult in a mid-market. Or do you give up assets to get one? I'd at least check in on Archer. Falvine seem to have a pretty good feel for value, since they didn't give away Dozier or Santana for dimes on the dollar, so I trust they know what is "too much" for a guy like him.
  8. That seems like a package that would net you Kershaw or Kluber if those teams were building like the Rays are. Regardless, I doubt the Twins would pay the package it would take to get Archer. I'm just tired of settling for middling pitchers just b/c they're better than what we already have. Maybe we just need to be patient and see what Mejia, Gonsalves, Romero, Berrios become before we decide how many starters we need to try and sign.
  9. These are like crack cocaine to a Twins fan!! Love to speculate. Here's one. Deal Nick Gordon for Chris Archer! Pay Archer with the money coming off the books when Mauer's contract expires.
