  1. Sad to see that Zack Jones was released. I recall not so long ago when he was a hot prospect, and how much many people howled when he wasn't protected in that Rule 5 draft a few years ago. Baseball is such a cruel mistress.
  2. And on the subject of Buxton, when does he start his next rehab stint? And where and for how long?
  3. Yes indeed. Dozier is about a year too late to take advantage of being a free agent. Even if he has another strong second half, as he is prone to do, I doubt that will enhance his free agent prospects very much at this point.
  4. Cave and Carter? Why not! They certainly can't be any worse than what we are currently trotting out there each day. Thinking of the letter "C", whatever happened to Chris Colabello?
  5. I have to agree with that. Most of the time those "bargains" were that way for a reason ... or three. If they Twins want to compete with the elite teams they will have to either draft better/wiser, or dish out more money for the top tier free agents.
  6. I would assume so too, but then again I'm no batting expert. I defer to Parker's impressive analysis of Sano and his struggles. I think the lingering leg problems that he mentioned could be one of the keys.
  7. Well, that qualifies as an "ouch" in more ways than one. Hopefully, that won't delay his return to the team even further. Even though, it's different type of "return" what's the latest on Pineda? Will he start a rehab stint anytime soon?
  8. I also appreciate these minor league reports. Keep 'em coming! I'm starting to think that Todd Van Steensel could be a keeper, someone to help the bullpen in another year or two. But every time I see his name in print I'm reminded of Todd Van Poppel, one of the all-time great draft busts in memory.
  9. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that the Twins have called up someone named Taylor Motter to the big league club.
  10. Good to see Kohl Stewart pitching well again. Then again, it seems like every time he has a couple of good games, he takes a step back again. Any additional news about Trevor May going on the DL again? Not encouraging news.
  11. Man, where would the Twins be without Rosario this year? He and Escobar seem like the only guys who can consistently hit the ball.
  12. Rodriguez sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders, plus a good-sized body to match. If he is as "toolsy" as he claims, maybe he'll turn into something worth keeping. Will be fun to watch his progress. Thanks for that introduction, Seth!
  13. Great interview, Ted. Thanks for posting that. Very helpful to know more about these new players.
  14. A tempting thought, but Gordon is really struggling at AAA so far.
  15. Meanwhile, what's Trevor Plouffe doing this month? No, on second thought, let's not go there.
  16. We have someone named "Motter" on the 40-man roster? Who is this guy and where did he come from? Man, I'm missing more than I notice lately!
  17. Adalberto Mejia! Actually, i HAD forgotten all about him. Good to see him turn in an impressive pitching performance ... but can he hit?
  18. Ouch, Well, it will no doubt be a seamless transition. Hopefully, he can still field the ball, if nothing else,
  19. As baffling as Molitor's usage of Lynn was in this game, you aren't going to win unless you start hitting and scoring more runs. Another depressing game. On a slightly more optimistic note, I noticed that although Berrios leads the staff in strikeouts, Lynn has a slighter higher K/9 ratio, leading all Twins starters at 9.31, Hey, I'm trying to find encouragement any way I can at this point!
  20. As baffling as this move seems, there is only one thing that the return of Belisle could mean: the second coming of Bartolo Colon to the Twin Cities!
  21. As much as I'd love to see Gordon called up this summer, I don't see that happening as long as we still have Dozier starting at 2B. I could either way on Wade, but I'd like to see Astudillo given a try as catcher. Who is Sawyer?
  22. We keep talking about "when Santana comes back" but do we even know that will actually happen before the season is over? I mean, it's mid-June already and there ain't much time left! If Santana's rehab resumes again, what's the new timeline for his return?
  23. Okay, Carter is an "older" player and strikes out a lot, but since we DID decide to sign him to a minor league contract and he IS producing well thus far, is it not conceivable that he might be called up to the big leagues again sometime soon? I
  24. I'm discouraged but not ready to write off the team's chances just yet. Lots of variables and "What Ifs" still at play. Buxton could come back and put it all together. Mauer could be healthy and productive again. Polanco will return and show the form we saw in the second half last year. Santana will also be back and should help the rotation. Morrison might get hot. And another wild card, Michael Pineda might help the final couple of months (on that note: does anyone know what is his timeline to join the club?). Plenty of things that COULD help the team in the coming months, but who knows how it will all play out? But hey, that's the joy --- and aggravation -- of this game.
