  1. Major league teams have seen fit to play Gallo in CF in nearly 60 games. This will NEVER happen with Wallner. Gallo is much better defensively. On the other hand, I’d like to think his offensive ceiling is a bit better than Gallo. Again…at least ceiling-wise.
  2. The Twins bench. It’s taking my heart, my soul, my money, and leaving me drowning in my tears.
  3. Ahhh…blowing a lead in the ninth. The good ‘ole days!

    Where's Wallner?

And none of that matters even a little if his hit tool proves as elite at the MLB level as it’s been at the AA level (and every other level so far). It’s like saying an NBA player is bad at everything…except he can rain catch-and-shoot 3’s with a hand in his face.
  5. If Correa is a 3 WAR player lets hope he opts out. Twins have multiple players on the roster that can approach that…allowing the Twins to invest in pitching (and/or catching). Having said that, he’s probably more like a 5 WAR player for the next couple of years…I THINK.
  6. Huh? A 26-year old former #1 overall draft pick, and perennial all-star, has a 7.2 WAR season…and “as good as can be asked” is 4 WAR in his age 27 season?
  7. Returning to Houston?? Funny question, right? Correa: age 27; 3.3 WAR; $35.1M (min) current Houston SS: age 24; 3.8 WAR; not even arb eligible
  8. Top 5 in the order had a grand total of 3 total bases and a walk in 20 PA. But it’s the #8 hitting, 5th-string left-fielder’s fault? Sometimes this board.
  9. Does anyone really believe that shutting him down now will impact his 2023 health at all? If so, why?? He’s going to be hurt every single year…and he’s going to miss significant time every single year. There’s zero history to suggest otherwise no matter what you do with him now. Zero. If he can play, play him. If not, don’t.
  10. Maybe write something inspired by the 2022 AL Central “race”. A fable. The tortoise and the tortoise.
  11. That explains where he was 9 months ago. Where is he tonight?
  12. Couldn’t agree more. I actually had a thought the wild pitch was intentional. Then, he looks to the dugout for the 4 fingers, and Rocco…??
  13. Steeling bases, putting the ball in play, hitting behind a runner, advancing runners late, holding runners effectively…all that stuff does is help you win actual GAMES. It doesn’t help your WAR or wRC+ or expected ERA, and it sure as hell doesn’t get you to the show or get you paid once there. Hence, almost nobody has those skills. This is the way it’s going to be until they make the ball out of jello…or a new generation of stadiums are built that make home runs significantly less frequent/likely.
  14. There have been hundreds of games won by a team that was shut out through 9 innings. Several hundreds. Leading to the obvious conclusion… if Ryan doesn’t make the mistake to Semien, gets pulled after 6 complete, and the bullpen is perfect…we win this game in extras with Buck off the bench. The pitching staff let us down again.
  15. Still, pretty good for a guy that’s supposed to be turning into Nick Blackburn.
  16. Absolutely…with this roster, for 2023, you’d probably like Miranda to be capable over there, and have a true slugger at 1B…(not to mention DH)
  17. You can win with him…could certainly do worse. But as 3rd basemen go, he’s not particularly valuable offensively. Ranked at/ near the bottom of the AL in WRC+ among qualified 3B (granted, several clubs don’t have a qualifying 3B).
  18. It was a self-depricating joke (from a fans perspective) Still, I wonder what KC fans call our franchise? Probably not perennial ‘winners’.
  19. The Twins pull guys earlier than most all teams in the league. The differences are ‘slight’…but they matter…even 1 extra out a game over 162 games is very significant. Having said that, Gray being unhappy with being pulled and saying so is a positive not a negative. He had something to say about a specific situation, and he said it. I’m glad it was said…and it means nothing regarding his or any other FA pitcher signing with the club in the future. My sense is these days there are just as many starters (more?) that like the current trend than that dislike it. Remember Gray is an ‘old’ guy.
