St. Paul rallied to pick up a win in extra innings. Wichita cruises past Corpus Christi. Cedar Rapids and Fort Myers didn't fare quite as well.

There were runs in bunches for Minnesota Twins affiliates on Tuesday, led by an unforgiving onslaught in Cedar Rapids. While one team wasn’t quite able to hold on, falling in extra innings, they combined to outhit their opponents 45-25 on a night filled with big hitting performances.

There have been some very strong performances throughout the Twins organization this week and all season. The Twins have been playing well. The Saints have struggled of late, but the three lower affiliates are all making a run for the playoffs and a first-half spot. The Twins completed their sweep over the Royals Sunday afternoon. Down on the farm, no series sweeps were in play but the Twins affiliates provided exciting baseball for all their fans on the last unofficial weekend of spring.

The Mighty Mussels were the only Twins affiliate to pick up a win on Friday and, for good measure, they decided to grab two.

St. Paul and Wichita each played extra-inning games. Fort Myers played a double-header. A top-seven pitcher made a start and was very solid. One player who desperately needed to show some power broke out of a slump in a significant way. A top-20 prospect delivered a walk-off homer. In minor-league action on Tuesday night, a top pitching prospect was on the mound for Wichita looking to continue an impressive streak, but it was a monster effort from a hitter who led the team to a win in a shootout. In other action, a pair of affiliates struggled on offense, and in Florida the Mighty Mussels played a little more than usual, completing a suspended game from earlier in the month.

The Twins have really had a lot of injuries and many of the prospects who were meant to be in St. Paul are now with the Twins, leaving the Saints a little short. They were swept on the road in Columbus. On the other side of the coin, the Ft. Myers Mighty Mussels had a dominant week and swept the six-game series against Palm Beach, including a no-hitter. The Twins had a series victory over the Guardians this weekend. The minor-league affiliates had a packed schedule with a doubleheader for the Saints, a canceled game due to weather for the Wind Surge, the Kernels maintaining the best record in the Midwest League, and the Mighty Mussels setting a new franchise record.
