After an injury-ridden 2021, Cedar Rapids pitcher Brent Headrick was electric on Wednesday night. Combine that with an offensive clinic in St. Paul and a nail-biter in Florida, it was an exciting evening across the farm. 

There were multiple top pitching prospects and early season standout performers scheduled to pitch for Minnesota Twins affiliates on Tuesday, but mother nature and opposing lineups had something to say about that when it came to the results. One game never got started, another ended early, and the one team to get a good start fell apart late, leading to an 0-3 night on the farm.

Amazing that the season is already into its second month. The Twins are playing great of late, winning 10 of their last 11 games. Over the past two weeks, the Wichita Wind Surge have gone 10-2. The other affiliates are over .500 too. Some of the top-hitting prospects had big weeks. And no fewer than five pitchers were deserving of pitcher of the week honors, while multiple top prospects could have earned Hitter of the Week honors.

April weather can be tough on hitters and pitchers, especially in the minor leagues. Here are three starters that shined even when the weather can get in the way.

The Twins were able to avoid a rainout being in Tampa (in large part due to Tropicana Field being a dome), but the same could not be said for the Saints and Mighty Mussels as one game was postponed and the other suspended due to rain. The Wind Surge and Kernels did not have weather stop their games today and the teams had opposite results for their games on Sunday. 

Fort Myers' gamers were washed out and St. Paul's game was cut short due to rain. Cedar Rapids' loss was delayed for over and hour due to rain. It also rained in Arkansas, but Wichita was able to pick up the win.

Fort Myers did not play on Friday due to poor weather. Saint Paul played two-thirds of a game before they were suspended due to poor weather. The two other Twins affiliates played extra-inning games. A Top 5 pitcher made a start and continued to dominate. A couple of Top 5 hitters had productive days at the plate without recording hits.
