  1. Breslow's walked 5 and struck out 9 in 18 IP. 4 of those walks were to LHB. You know, the guys he's supposed to be good at getting out. As a result, his obp vs lefties is actually higher than righties. That's not good. I would say Breslow hasn't been the trainwreck that Belisle and Pressly have been. Pretty good? Don't see it that way. I would say he is definitely not someone to use in high leverage situations. The problem is that is true of just about everyone down there. Duffey, Rogers and Kintzler have gotten the job done pretty consistently. But they can't keep up the workload they are being subjected to. Rogers has appeared in 24 of the team's 47 games. Kintzler 22. Too many. Duffey has a team leading 25 relief IP. That paces him to 80 or more. That's a lot IMO.
  2. First of all, I don't think you can draw a straight line and say that because Rucinski gave up 3 in the 9th he would have been just as bad or worse in the 8th. In the 8th inning, the Astros were a beaten down team. Pressly walked the first guy and then almost killed Altuve. So, 2 on no one out and the Astros haven't even made contact yet. Point being maybe Rucinski doesn't walk Reddick or hit Altuve. Maybe one of them makes an out. Then who knows what might have happened. Second, it doesn't matter. Sure, you always want to win. But, IMO winning today's game was a secondary goal to resting the bullpen arms that needed it - which was basically everyone but Wheeler and Rucinski. The manager needs to understand that and manage the game accordingly.
  3. The only reliever used by Rochester today was Michael Tonkin. Just an fyi.
  4. No one said Rucinski was the second coming of Mariano Rivera. But, he did manage to pitch a full inning without giving up 5 runs. Ryan Pressly did 0 of those.
  5. Maybe don't use tired arms with a 6 run lead when you have fresh ones??
  6. Paul Molitor for Manager of the Year. Inexcusable incompetence of game and bullpen management.
  7. He has an option. I figured for that reason he was going to go down.
  8. How much confidence do you need with a 6 run lead? Yeah, Pressly was the right decision alright. He's been terrible most of the year. This was entirely predictable and likely preventable. I'm not even sure who was called up, but I think I would have had more confidence in them than Pressly this year.
  9. Who's talking about #1 option? Six run lead. S I X. 1,2,3,4,5,6 run lead. If you can't get 3 outs, or even 6, without giving up 6 runs, you shouldn't be on the roster. Yeah, bringing in Pressly sure has worked out well. And now thanks to Molitor's utter incompetence, someone from the Twins will get drilled next inning.
  10. Am I missing something? The Twins called up TWO fresh pitchers. There is now a SIX run lead. But Pressly is warming up? If Paul isn't going to use them, why bring them up?
  11. Belisle has walked 11 in 15 IP. Not acceptable. Even if you take out the stinkers, it's 7 BB in 14 IP. That's STILL way too many walks.
  12. I'll say this: pinch running for Vargas in the 9th makes a lot more sense than pinch hitting for him in the 7th.
  13. Perhaps not, but Wilk is out of options, Belisle is WAY out of options and Haley is rule 5. Of the top 5 pitching problems, the only one besides Pressly that could be sent to Rochester is Gibson.
  14. If the Twins send Pressly back out there for another inning, I think there is a possibility he gets optioned down for Mejia.
  15. Pressly has given up 9 extra base hits in fewer than 16 IP. I'm not a math expert, but I know that's bad.
  16. On the positive side, Morrison and Dickerson have each hit 11 of their 12 HR against RHP. Longorria has poor numbers vs LHP. Flipside is that it could get f-ugly for Gibson.
  17. How does moving Dozier to left field (a position he has NEVER played as a professional) IMPROVE the defense. The Twins pitching staff has mainly guys that are fly ball pitchers. Kintzler and now Gibson would really be the only guys who tend torack up ground balls. There is no way you would move a veteran like Dozier to a new position midseason.
