  1. Fernando Romero, May 2. Against Toronto, he pitched 5-2/3 innings, 4 hits, no runs allowed and got the W. His 2nd start, he pitched 6 innings, 9 strikeouts and no runs allowed to get the W again. Pretty good career start I'd say. Looking forward to having him back. Go Twins.
  2. Check out some Ryne Sandberg at-bats. He could look brutal on one pitch, then drill the next one to Wrigleyville. I always thought it was kind of his game plan ... hehe.
  3. Busenitz, Curtiss and Reed . . . sounds like a law practice. Kudos to Thorpe being promoted to Rochester; last night pitched a quality start but lost 3-2, 9 strikeouts 0 walks, not a bad start. Adrianza at 1B, really? Can I both dislike Logan Forsythe because he is not Brian Dozier, and like him because he is not Brian Dozier? Slated to toe the rubber tonite in the minors: Romero, Enns, Pineda, Enlow.
  4. Looking forward to seeing Andrew Vasquez, the big (6-6, 228) lefty reliever at Chattanooga. Career minor league era of 1.56 in 99 games. Whip of 1.12 and over 13 KO's per 9. Don't know how hard he throws, but he sure has gotten results. Hopefully his stuff plays as he moves up.
  5. Seth, In the GCL writeup: "Frandy Torres got the final five outs, tree on the strikeouts." Ya don't say, mon.
  6. Need to market a new health supplement called FRE. Some type of calming, blood pressure lowering, mellowing pills. Take 2 after the 8th and sit back for the ride. Maybe having Rodney as your closer prepares you more for pressure-filled games. Tom, you coined a winner, "Gibby The Great". May it stick. I live in New England. I love when the Twins beat the Sox (well, white or red really). Go Twins.
  7. Michael Davis out of Texas Tech (2018 24th round pick) was moved up to Cedar Rapids from Elizabethton really quick and has had a terrific start. The Red Raiders have a great baseball program; manager Tim Tadlock was awarded D1 Baseball Coach of the Year Award 2018. Count me in as a Davis fan.
  8. Lets see, we lost our #1 starter, shortstop, catcher, centerfielder and thirdbaseman, and yet were still knocking on the door of playing .500 ball. I think that's pretty amazing. It's been a real challenge to our depth, and unfortunately guys like Vargas and Granite haven't been able to help. I don't know what the trade deadline fallout will look like, but the last months of the season should be fun to watch. To Byron Buxton, please please please get your hit groove on, we need ya.
  9. <<That's a rally silly and mostly meaningless stat, I know, but it's a fun one.>> A rally silly stat, eh? Tom, I think you've coined a new one.
  10. I think we do have enough bullpen depth, its just that some of it is in Rochester.
  11. I'll laud Drew Butera's character. Great dude. https://www.mlb.com/royals/news/drew-butera-dons-pink-hair-for-cancer-free-fan/c-277280556 You don't stay in the bigs on just your lofty .201 career batting average.
  12. Yeah. Ozzie and A.J. I loved those guys. I hated those guys. I loved playing the Sox and beating them, if for no other reason than to shut The Hawk up.
  13. Rochester's weather forecast was for arctic mayhem. Both Gordon and Gonsalves, 2 players I believe the Twins would consider as "first call-ups" if needed, have had a chance to play instead of sitting around. Good call.
  14. <<How many 31 year old players got big money this off-season? He will be older than Jay Bruce was this off-season.Will he get a Jay Bruce type contract? And there should be no argument that Bruce is more valuable than Dozier.>> Here's one argument: 2017 Brian Dozier 4.4 WAR age 30, 2017 Jay Bruce 2.9 WAR age 30.
  15. Vacation in Duluth ...... vacation in Duluth... hmmmm. I'm having a hard time with that one. Oh, that's right, it's on a lake. Go Twins!
  16. Wow, excellent article. I don't get a chance to see these guys play so I really enjoy learning about the guys who are "chasing the dream". I follow all the box scores (after checking the Twins of course) to see who is doing well. My favorite player now is LaMonte Wade, outfielder for the Lookouts. Scouting reports say that he doesn't have any outstanding tools, but he sure seems to figure out how to be really good. Thanks Seth. -Clay
