  1. I thought Beau Burroughs (Kevin Costner) was the guy who bonked all the family Huttinger women who the Mrs. Robinson song was supposedly based on. ? (Ya ya, different spelling, I know.)
  2. Twins also signed Kyle Barraclough who could be a bullpen piece. He's a bit wild but does limit hard contact.
  3. Whew. I was thinking that at that size, he could turn sideways and disappear.
  4. Do you know, is he really 6-0 145 as listed at BBref? That's thinner than Nick "nightlite" Gordon.
  5. Looks like Jordan Gore moving to the bump as his place of business has been a good move. Possible future Twins reliever?
  6. It would be interesting to know what Tampa would trade Buxton for if they had him. Those guys really know how to assess player value both in terms of production and cost and build a competitive team. It's really impressive and I don't think you can really copy it effectively. Some of their trades seem misguided at first but then you see the results in the W/L column and you realize they've done it again. I hate em.
  7. The guy I wanted the Twins to sign was 28 year old former 1st round pick Taijuan Walker who signed a 2 year + option contract for $20 mil with the Mets. At 6-4, 235 lbs and fully recovered fro TJ surgery, could have been a solid rotation addition. He's pitched better than expectations so the Mets are happy.
  8. I'm not sure "Game Recap" is really appropriate for nights like this. "Massacre Recap" might better fit the occasion with maybe an FCC type rating to protect the more innocent of fans. ?
  9. Any self-respecting team does NOT trade Byron Buxton. He is worth more as a part time player than most full time players, and all players on this year's Twins. I'm sorry if you don't see it, but he is the straw that stirs the drink. When he is in the lineup he impacts a team more than any player in baseball outside of the juniors (Guerrero and Tatis), Trout, Acuna and Soto. Sign him to a contract and have a plan for when he is unable to play. I should add Betts in there.
  10. I would think if Jermaine Palacios continues his solid play at AA it should put him back on the Twins prospect list.
  11. Tigers beat the Royals, we're alone in last place.
  12. It's good to see Palacios playing well again. After being traded to the Rays (for 2 good years from Jake Odorizzi) he really struggled in the minors and the Twins scooped him back up. Is he really 6-0 145 pounds? That would make Nick Gordon look . . . plump.
  13. So many pitches catching too much plate and being given a ride. Why is Dobnak pitching when he has a nail problem and can't complete his pitches? Why is Shoemaker even still here?
  14. I like the kid. He has a certain relaxed athleticism that I think will allow his abilities to play at the MBL level. I think that homerun to straight away CF off the low fastball shocked everybody. He has been really good in the lineup and sure didn't seem lost in CF either. He just looks so freakin' skinny.
  15. Mike Marshall was one of my favorite players and who recently passed away. Iron Mike was a great security blanket for a pitching staff knowing he could throw 1-3 innings at any time really. His own knowledge of the human body and movement (earned a Doctor of Philosophy in exercise physiology) allowed him to develop himself into one the greatest workhorse pitchers ever. If you have never checked out his career and stats, do it, pretty amazing numbers. Can you believe he pitched 208.3 innings in relief in 1974? Makes my elbow hurt just thinking about it. And if you ever needed a brainiac to figure out the logistics of anything, Mike was your man.
  16. Good point; maybe a more significant lead-off role would spark his production?
  17. Rest, rehab and rub some dirt on it. I think the term was a sore elbow.
  18. Simmons to lead off? .383 OBA vs lefties, .312 vs righties.
  19. That was a pretty sticky answer by Cole if you ask me.
