  1. They haven't been given the chance to take the heat. If Belisle was brought in because they needed his "leadership" that doesn't speak too well of Rodney, Reed and Duke.
  2. Romero got called up much sooner than we expected while the supposedly more polished Gonsalves still hasn't had his look. I think this new front office is very open to rapid advancements for guys with great stuff.
  3. That award typically goes to the manager of the most surprising team. And the Twins were only surprising because of how terribly they played under him the previous year.
  4. I don't think any of us calling for him to be replaced are doing so based off of the recent on-field issues. We've been pretty steadfast in our wishes for a long time. I don't think it's a pitchfork situation if we've been saying they picked the wrong guy from the start.
  5. These guys certainly are all long shots on Day 3, but a ten year history is really only a seven year history or so because no player from any round has made the MLB team from the past three drafts. If you go from 2005-2014 you get to add Valnecia, Manship, Slama, Burnett, Tosoni. Day 3 picks seem to average about one MLB player a year. Not to speak of the quality of that player.
  6. He may not be the main problem, but he is a problem and that problem is one of the easiest fixes if sentimentality is removed from the decision. The season might be over, but we've see plenty of teams finally get a fire lit under them when their manager gets canned mid-season. Particularly when it's perceived as an unfair firing to the players.
  7. I do think that most of us on the 'Replace Gardy' bandwagon were also on the 'Do not hire from within the country club' bandwagon also.
  8. Another HS arm in round 16, Anthony Tuionetoa. Probably sign-ability issues but I do like HS kids! Um, er, that didn't come out right.
  9. Ugh, already dropping the Willie? It's Willie Joe and it better stay that way.
  10. It's hard to put into words how much I like having a guy named Willie Joe in our system. Already one of my favorite prospects!
  11. I like the HS shortstop, after that, the guys taken after round 1 don't really excite me. However, at this point, no one specific player drafted should be expected to ever make the big leagues, so I guess doubling down on specific skill sets probably doesn't hurt.
  12. It's after round 10 because teams don't lose their slot bonus should those players not sign. And it seems like guys who are in the top 100 or so never sign. Not that I don't hope they don't take other HS kids. I guess I could rephrase my prior post, we can probably wish that the Twins draft some of those high ranked HS kids, but probably shouldn't expect them to sign at this point.
  13. Well they took more college arms than I would have wanted, but any KC fans complaining after seeing what they did with their first two picks are probably just those folks who complain about anything.
  14. There hasn't been a HS kid taken from MLB's top 100 since round 4. I'm guessing we can start crossing all of those off the wish list. We're probably not far from being able to cross off all the HS kids still in the top 200.
  15. Big bat HS middle infielders; I'm in favor of those. I'm guessing the team is saving money with the other picks.
  16. Outfield depth might have been the key to the Twins sustained run early this century. Hunter anchored CF, but they had prospects ranging from elite to pretty dang good in Cuddyer, Jones, Garbe, Kubel, Rabe, Restovich, Ryan, Kielty, Ford, Buchanon and Mohr. They flipped some for need (SS Jason Bartlet, lead off hitter Shannon Stewart) but probably could have swung more deals had they wanted to.
  17. I thought your reference to "type" was aimed at the type of hitters they were selecting.
  18. The really good ones, but there tend to only be a couple of those a year in the whole league. There's rarely much difference between the 7th best catcher and the 27th best.
  19. It looks like they like they want to get the best bats and position isn't given heavy consideration. That's my position as well.
  20. Ugh catcher, baseball's equvilant to a kicker. At least he can hit I guess.
  21. Maybe not, but I'm thinking the local sample might be tainting your opinion. If we were in St. Louis we'd probably think otherwise. Looking at the board for the Twins, Blaine Knight is my choice.
  22. So both Florida pitchers fell and KC gets them both? Is that a coincidence or was it gamesmanship?
  23. I would have liked pitching but there didn't seem to be any truly high upside guys there that didn't look like they were most likely destined for the pen. Looks like this was the best bat available, Im fine with that.
