  1. Normally I wouldn't be too bent out of shape about 2 runs allowed, but that's also equal to the number of hits this offense has mustered this far, so my outlook is a bit more pessimistic than normal.
  2. What a crappy decision to have to make. I'll see myself out...
  3. I had a tilty headed pug ad under this comment and it seemed very appropriate.
  4. It would certainly make sports photography much easier that way.
  5. I'd start with stipulating that there'd be no time travel.
  6. Definitely. Didn't catch the box score this morning to see what the pitch count was. Maybe @stringer bellknows?
  7. I see that yesterday's starting pitcher is in LF today.
  8. Given the health of this team, every aspect is a concern for me. If they get 3 wins out of this stretch, I'll consider that a small victory of its own.
  9. But lefty on the mound! That doesn't change anything. I agree with you...
  10. I don't just "hang out" enough when I go to ST. Perhaps I should! Not necessarily for the swag, meeting some of these guys would be fun on its own. I've talked to Tony O a couple of times at TF. He used to hang out by some of his sandwich kiosks. And yes, you don't throw out ASG and WS tickets!!!!
  11. I'm not a collector by any means, but my dad gave me a gameday program from a 1976 Cardinals game on Bob Gibson day that he attended. Which is cool in and of itself, but in it was an unpunched ASG voting ballot. Reading through the names on that ballot is pretty mindboggling. This was just in the last 5 or 6 years. They're both in pretty good shape too.
  12. As you mention, injuries and Covid have taken their toll on the roster. The pitching depth is still a big concern and it's being tested right now. A healthy Buxton probably makes a sizeable difference to the lineup, but Larnach is playing well. He's not the dynamic player that Buxton is though. I was hoping for a 20+ win month. Admittedly a tall task, but one that I think was very doable given the competition. They almost got there, but I can't help but feel that they could have had a couple more wins. Yet they still have a 5 game lead in the division. We'll just have to wait and see if they're able to hold onto that.
  13. It must be an interesting job at times to be a manager at the AAA level. The big league club gets decimated by injuries and your squad gets gutted in the process. Probably have to laugh about it in the end. Play 4 catchers and then have one leave the game and lose the DH in the process? Ha! Just your typical insane day at the office!
  14. Oh, definitely. In more than one way. For me though, it's how they lost. I'm always fine with just getting beat by a better team that day. It happens. It's quite another to beat yourself. Even on the radio, they seemed non-competitive. That's the problem for me. Which, admittedly, I didn't articulate well in that post.
  15. I'm not usually too disappointed with splitting a double header, but this one sucks. They really can't afford to leave wins on the table. They need to beat up on teams like the Tigers.
