  1. That sucks! Hopefully that heals up for him. I'm hoping to get out more this summer. Life hasn't allowed me to play enough the last couple of years, but I finished last season really strongly so I'm hoping that I can carry that over the winter somehow.
  2. Yeah, that makes a big difference. Standing around doesn't help keep the blood flowing. That's why I walk those rounds.
  3. My FIL is 69 and plays to a 4 or 5. I'm 42 and have a difficult time maintaining my 13-15 handicap. He's able to play all of the time, I can't play nearly as much as I'd like.
  4. This is a game thread. What else are we supposed to be talking about?
  5. I'm one of those fools that loves a crisp early spring morning where as long as they'll let me out I'm going to play. Layer up and walk on a nice sunny morning with little to no breeze with the course to yourself is a perfect way to spend a morning in my mind. I've played many a round at 33 or 34 degrees and love every second of it. I'm fortunate to live literally 3 minutes from a course. I know that if I don't have frost that they likely don't have frost so I'll load up the clubs and head over and get out before the tee sheet even starts.
  6. I figured that you'd know of a such a place if they existing out in your neck of the woods.
  7. Also, as a golf and wine enthusiast, I need to find a golf course that also has an onsite winery... ...or a winery with an onsite golf course...
  8. I think the real question is whether being drunk on the couch at 11:30 qualifies as me being in the best shape of my life! Regardless, I'm at work, a painful day at work, so being drunk at this point seems like an improvement over my current situation.
  9. Interesting tidbit, indeed. Thanks for working the numbers!
  10. There is a flip side to this too though. They're also playing the better teams more as well. Those teams are better than Cleveland and Chicago. Both cases are true for those two teams as well, however. I don't think the schedule is a huge difference, but I do think it can have the potential of maybe 5 wins. In the grand scheme of things, that probably isn't a big deal since that also applies to the other division foes as well, but it probably matters when it comes time for playoff matchups.
  11. That one win was the difference between voting 80-85 and 86-90 though! 😆
  12. I said 80-85. I think it's closer to 85 than 80, but I couldn't bring myself to go 86-90. I think the new schedule format hurts them. I like much of the additions they made, but I'm still not confident that they stack up well with the the better teams in the league.
  13. With this rain today, I can almost smell the grass growing under the 3' of snow!  Bring on the baseball!

  14. That doesn't have to be a negative though. Guys "tweek" their swings all of the time. Tweek implies that it's a minor change, not a rebuild. But yes, I'd agree that it would depend on what he means to an extent. I still think people are reading way too much into this.
  15. It seems reasonable and logical to try to take pressure off of a problem area regardless of how the surgery went in this case. That's what you would do if it were a chronic issue, and this sounds like it has the makings of having that potential. I think people are reading too much into this. We knew that he may not be ready by opening day.
  16. Oh, so the unmentioned "Other" option! That's a good point though. Another thing to watch for is how teams are adjusting to the new rules as well.
  17. I wouldn't read too much into Kirilloff's comments. He's not only coming off a surgery and still rehabbing, but he isn't guaranteed an active roster spot anyway. He's only got so much control on his status for opening day.
  18. I'll be watching to see how Maeda and Mahle progress too. Maeda in particular given how long he's been out.
  19. And if it's not diabolical, I'm going to be VERY disappointed!
  20. @Vanimal46says that our polls are too easy! Well...we'll just have to rectify that!
  21. Yeah, I can do that too. I just can't do that when I actually need to be productive! Because it ain't happenin' if I've got baseball on!
  22. This explains my confusion. I needed to go to my record collection, not my baseball card collection!
  23. Martin is a good one to watch too. Agreed on production. It's more about process for me. That's harder to determine though, especially when I'm not able to watch games. The radio only helps so much.
