  1. I agree with what you're saying, but I think there's a difference between a guy making multiple unrelated poor decisions/trades and a guy that makes poor decisions because he made a poor decision before. I would put Bill Smith in the former category. Even the best GM's/Managers/etc have things go astray now and then. I've said multiple times that the hallmark of a good manager is how they deal with errors. Do they compound them by continuing to double down on it or do they admit to their mistakes and take corrective measures to correct the error and learn from it.
  2. I think that's a pretty good o/u number. I'd also take the under and feel pretty good about my odds. That being said, it's a pretty disheartening realization even for somebody that feels that's where this team is still at.
  3. This is along the lines of how I'm looking at this. I'm not looking to replace Dozier's output with Polanco, I feel that Polanco's bat fills a different need for this team. This team hasn't had a table setter in a long time. This team has power, but nobody that can reliably get on in front of that power. In my view, Polanco's bat fits the makeup of this team better than Dozier's does. I'll take the decrease in power output if it means scoring more runs with the power that remains.
  4. Just let me hear some of that rock'n'roll music, any old way you choose it.
  5. Veronica Vaughn...so hot! Want to touch the heinie!

  7. That joke doesn't work as well in type, but I couldn't resist the urge to use this.
  8. But having a single base number for everything is hard. Our way makes so much more sense...
  9. Insulation thicknesses and requirements aren't as high there as they are in MN and the pipes in the ground likely aren't buried as deep. So yes, they very well could. Now that I've ruined your humor with seriousness, my in-laws moved to Tampa from Bemidji and they didn't follow the local instructions to let the faucets drip to keep the pipes from freezing early in their first winter there. The pipes froze and they had to replace a couple of waterlines because of it.
  10. In my mind it's not that they made a free agent splash, it's who they made the splash with. Signing a 5 year/$70M deal with a 31 year old who is just a season removed for 4 successive years in decline is what makes this a curious move to me. The forfeited draft pick only makes it worse.
  11. You might be correct on Bucholz being cheaper, but the idea would be that Pomeranz is a young controllable pitcher which fits the Twins needs more than Bucholz.
  12. Fair point. At 5 years, $70M, it makes even less sense to me. It seems odd that a team like the Rockies would be interested in that, but we shall see I guess.
  13. If that's the case, the move is a bit of a head scratcher in my mind. I know that he had a nice season, but I still kind of view him as a bit of a risk.
  14. I think I'm okay with that, but wouldn't be bashful about dealing him if the right offer comes around either.
  15. I lean more with you Vanimal in that I'm more interested in Pomeranz. Though, I wouldn't turn my nose up at Bucholz either.
  16. I'm assuming that he's out until at least the All-Star break rehabbing his knee. That's why I don't think he's really worth a one year deal anywhere. They'd basically be signing him for half a season coming off major knee surgery. For a catcher, that's a rather significant red flag. I'm guessing he'll get a two year deal to make it worthwhile to the signing team. Plus, I'd imagine that Ramos would want at least one good season to show that he's healthy again to maximize his value. He's unlikely to do that in half a season, so a one year deal doesn't seem to make much sense from his perspective either.
  17. In my view, Ramos makes no sense for this team. He's after a shorter term deal because of his knee injury. A one year deal makes absolutely no sense for this or any other team, and a two year deal puts them basically in the same situation after 2018. That's why I think they went with a 3 year deal with Castro.
  18. Probably, but at the earliest he'd be back would be June, more likely July or August. A lost season in likelihood. No guarantees of what you'll get either.
