Ace is among the most overused terms in baseball. I think we should go back to using wins again. Because of lack of supply, it's become fasionable to pretend experienced starting pitchers now have further ceiling to unleash.
If we are going to sent a message and hit the eject button, just cut The Turtle. We don't need cheerleaders, we need rings. Saw Cruz brought his son to ST. He can easily replace The Turtle and looks much better in a uniform.
These things have a way of working themselves out. Our depth is a great thing, and a major reason why we can win the Central in our sleep. Neither the Indians or America's Team have any depth. We have ample time to prepare for our showdown with the Yankees.
If Buxton doesn't extend in the future, he will be replaced by Lewis or Celestino. If the injury is over a week or so, I would like to see the most ready of the two.
Going forward, we should be able to take care of our relief pitching needs internally. Nothing wrong with picking up a spare part or so in free agency, but it really isn't necessary. This is a major breakthrough.
I've been a member a long time. I'll never get tired of hearing our favorite team was the smartest and made the best move. The crow fest wasn't that long ago.
The Cubbies need a #4 or #5 right now. More likely is trading Darvish's decline years and money for The Turtle. I should mention Darvish has a no trade clause until after the 2021 season.
We have no idea what TR would have done. My hope is Bailey and/or Chacin can be dealt for a starting pitching prospect in A ball at some point in time.
MLBTR reported we discussed an extension 2 previous years, and speculated we would again this offseason. We need him, this season and 2021. By 2022, he can be replaced by our farm system etc. We are not being held hostage.
Actually it's very insightful. Let's try to explain what's perfectly clear another way. Our buds the Yankees have at best a marginal farm system. Their 4th best prospect would be on our late teens or early twenties. By the time Gil debuts, which is far from guaranteed, Cave will have spent time in The Show for 5 or 6 years. No way we can lose this trade.
Few teams have done better than us in IFA for over 10 years. You spot them when they're 14, sign them when they're 16, then the development begins. Few do it better on a consistent basis.
